I’m in the Galapagos right now … even stayed in the same airbnb of David Andrew in Puerto Ayora!!! Wanted to say I agree 100 percent with your video. Wished I had watched it before arriving, not when departing! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Very interesting and useful video, thank you guys. What a bummer about the guides, I hate being "guided", for the most part 😋That's just annoying. But I already suspected that. It is what it is. Thanks! 🙂
Exactly, as the islands are in a marine reserve. Some of the guides are more relaxed about how close you need to stay to them than others. Are you planning a trip there?
We were there in February and early March. I was ok without a wetsuit but felt a little more comfortable when I was wearing one. They also help with sun protection.
Would highly recommend a live aboard cruise. There are many choices to experience this for significantly less than the $1,000/person/day quoted in this video. The really top-end boats may cost this but we just did an eight-day cruise in February, 2023 on a first class catamaran for $600 U.S./person/day. We really didn't feel like we were lacking anything and got the full experience with comfortable accomodations, snorkeling, land excursions, plentiful and delicious foods and attentive service by the boat's staff.
@@loretakurkowski2885 Seaman Journey through Galapagos Travel Center. Highly recommend both. We bought our trip over a year ago so prices might have bumped a bit but are still close to that and well under $1k/day/per person Here's a video: ruclips.net/video/zTo7vdzZwnw/видео.html
Kudos to you for spending an entire month - I returned after a 6 day trip and I would definitely not invest more time than that. I visited the Galapagos as a part of a round trip to Ecuador and that is the only constellation I think the islands are worth visiting. Didn´t really like the landscape, which looks really barren and furthermore most islands have a bad stench from all the sea lion and bird droppings. Some of the marine life may be unique to the islands, but not sure its worth taking a very long flight from literally everywhere to just see blue footed boobies. Also, I´ve had better snorkelling in other parts of the world, such as Bali, East Africa, Sri Lanka and the Maledives.
A month was a long time. Knowing what we know now, we'd probably go for about 2 weeks. It's a cool place and seeing the marine iguanas walking down the beach was an amazing experience. But I agree that it's not easy to get to and though it's quite unique, we've also had better snorkeling experiences in other places.
Good video, i am going to the Galapagos islands for 6 months in May for work with the giant tortoise and this was some good information ♥️🏴

Thank you!! We hope you have a great time in the Galapagos!
I just book a trip here…calling tomorrow to hopefully cancel… to many restrictions… thanks for this video🙌🙏
Amazing video! Could you share the tour agency you hired for the tours?

Where did you see the hammerheads? Seems like right of the coast..
We saw those ones in the swimming area of Tortuga Bay in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. They were pretty amazing to see!
Two questions: 1) what month were you there, and was the water chilly enough for a wet suit?

Thank you guys. Very necessary video for me ❤.
Glad it was helpful!

That sounds fabulous! Thanks for sharing your experience and costs.
Who did you use for the catamaran experience?
