    My goodness, I never knew these homes existed. They were magnificent and the Kirkwood home is still magnificent. What a great part of Kansas City history. Thank you for showing these homes and telling the history behind them. God bless.

      If you want to see a home built in this era, then visit The Kansas City Museum aka Corinthian Hall in Northeast Neighborhood of Kansas City at 3218 Gladstone Blvd.
      It was built by lumber baron Robert A. Long who also owned Longview Farm.
      The mansion has been mostly restored, and is open to the public.
      There are many opulent mansions in Kansas City worth a drive-by;
      Janssen Place, a two block long dead-end loop lined with stately mansions mostly built by a railroad magnate, and The Sunset Hill neighborhood south of the Plaza, and West of Loose Park.

      @jhandle4196 I went to see the Longview Home before it was restored because it was opened to the public for free. After it was restored you had to pay to get in to see it. From some of the pictures that was in The Star newspaper some rooms were decorated horrible and didn't match the era of the home. The worst room, I thought, was a bathroom that was done in mirrors. The floor, walls and the ceiling. Gross. I have seen many of the old homes in Kansas City. Matter of fact when I lived in Prairie Village I used to go through Mission Hills which wasn't very far from where I lived. Even went by Mr Kaufman's home. My brother took his daughter there one Holloween to trick or treat because he read in the newspaper that trick or treaters got a Royals jacket but this time she got only a Royals notebook. She sure was disappointed. God bless.

    My kids and I love driving through that neighborhood and I always wondered what the history of this home was. I'm so glad someone decided to invest in bringing it back to its original glory as opposed to demolishing it the way so many gems have been. We enjoyed the video but would have liked to see more interior photos (understand it's not always possible to get!).
