I wish you could see the actual beginning of the Army/Navy game. All of the fans are members of the military academies, and they are all dressed in the same formal attire. I recommend doing a reaction to "Roger Staubach". He played for Navy in the 1960s and became the quarterback who made the Dallas Cowboys famous (America's Team) in the 1970s.
I love the Army-Navy game. We give it a special place on the college football calendar, with the game being played the week after the conference championships so its the only game that day. There is so much tradition and pageantry in the game, but even more than that its just amazing to watch these guys who gave up having the fun athlete experience at a normal college to instead take a much harder path. During the game they show the service assignments of the seniors, and seeing that it really hits you that many of these guys playing on national TV in front of a crowd of 50,000+ will, in 6 months time, be sent to every far off corner of the world to defend our country. There really is nothing else like it.
Applying to the military academies is the hardest college application that will ever be completed. The references and academic requirements are at the highest levels. You are at school and in the military for 4, sometimes 5 years. Some of the most elite education and consistent training makes it extremely difficult. Also, look at the graduates who became national heroes.
Normal civilians can go because I got to go to this past year (which the second video was the intro for). The single coolest football game experience in the United States. I've been to multiple SEC football stadiums, the Rose Bowl, the Cotton Bowl, but absolutely nothing compares to going to the Army-Navy Game. There's nothing like it. One of those games everyone who can needs to go to. You hear the expression "Sing Second" because both teams gather after the game for the singing of both schools' alma mater songs, starting with the team who loses the game first, then the winner second. The excitement of the supporters for the winners is so great to be around. I sat with Navy supporters and their excitement to sing after losing the past three years was so great.
I'm an American High Schooler and I've thought about signing up to one of these schools or joining the military but sadly I can't because I'm medically disqualified

I have been to the Army Navy game it is the best game I've ever been to. The most powerful quote I've never heard from sports was 2017 "this is the only game in the world where everyone on the field is willing to die for everyone watching".
Army Navy game is the one game I wait to watch. Retired Navy after 31 years and it still gives me chills watch both schools March on to the field....Amazing what a great game no matter who wins....although I got to say it GO NAVY BEAT ARMY
They are college. But it comes with a contracted military commitment. Graduates are all Officers. Some people could argue it's more difficult to get accepted into West Point or the Naval Academy than it is to be accepted to Harvard. They take only the best.
My grandfather called my Zayde served in the Navy during World War 2 and my cousin is currently serving our country as a Marine. My Cousin Holly I love you and I am so proud of you! Go Navy Beat Army! I am proud of the heart Navy played with this year! Navy won the 2021 Army Navy game!
You asked if these are colleges. The three service academies are three of the hardest colleges to get into the world. Not only do you need a Ivy League resume to get in, you also need a congressional recommendation. Tickets are open to anyone.
The Army Navy game is the most unique event to experience. The atmosphere is so intense for all the best reasons. Even though they are fighting against each other on the field, you can see the massive amount of respect they have for the other academy. GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY!
It's such a weird paradox because you have to have respect for the other school because they are essentially the exact same school. The only difference is changes in uniforms and what certain things are called. And yet I love nothing more than to see West Point suffer. GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!
To give you more- by accepting an appointment to one of the military academies in the U.S. means giving a 6 year commitment to serve. At age 18 that's HUGE and much much more than just going to school. You go to school for 4 years then you serve in the military for 6 after your schooling is over. On a side note... GO ARMY!!!!!
If you were able to go it would be life-changing you would never look at a football rivalry or the military the same way ever again. If you really want to understand what Army Navy is really all about look at some of the video that has been put on RUclips over the last couple of years then this will all make sense. Thank you for your video reactions and wishing you the best
I'll recommend one better for you, Courtney. React to the history of the Commander-in-Chief trophy. It is a awarded to one of three military institutions: Army, Navy, or Air Force. The recipient of the Commander-in-Chief trophy is based upon which one the three football teams can beat the other two within the season (Army vs Air Force, Air Force vs Navy, Army vs Navy) despite the teams' overall records.
West Point, Annapolis Naval Academy, and the Air Force Academy are colleges, but the students all receive officer commissions in the military when they graduate. When you go to this school you are signing up for the military.
The greatest rivalry in college football. Though it no longer has implications on the national championship game like it did in the past, it's still a big deal. Think of it like this... somewhere around the world there is a person who has no interest in American football. Doesn't care about or cheer for either Alabama or Auburn. Florida, Florida State, or Miami. Michigan or Ohio State. But this person's two grandfathers each served their country. One in the Army and the other in the Navy. This person likes one grandfather better than the other. That individual will cheer for the service of their favorite grandfather. Even someone in your situation for example, because of your engagement to a Marine, you may choose to root for Navy over Army. It's because of situations like those, there are more people interested in the outcome of the Army/Navy game than any state or regional rivalry. Army vet. GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY. 😎👍
It is also a tradition the the President of the United States will attend the Game, and sit with the Commandant of the defending team until half time. At the half, Mishipmen and Cadets line up at 2 35 yard lines, and the President walks over to the other Commandant.
GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY! The US Naval Academy, US Military Academy (also called West Point), and the Air Force Academy are all 4 year schools where students earn their degrees while going through officer training. All three schools play athletics at the college level, but nothing compares to the pageantry and traditions of the Army-Navy Game.
No one pays to go to the academies so yes technically I suppose you could say they're on scholarships. Upon graduation you have a commitment to serve in the military for a total of 8 years.
Presidents of the United States Ulysses Grant and Dwight Eisenhower went to the United State Military College in West Point, New York; President Jimmy Carter went to the US Military Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. I think the game in 2018 was the 107th annual game between the 2 Academies.
You should watch the following 5 videos. • Sing Second - Army/Navy 2018 Remaster [4k] • Opening for Army-Navy Game 2017 • CBS Intro to 2016 Army-Navy Game Presented by USAA • Army Navy tease 2014 • America the Beautiful by the United States Navy Band
These are two of our five military academies. It is four years of college for very bright people who will be officers when they graduate. But it is miltary training and classwork and whatever rank you attain in your class is something that can follow a military officer for as long as he lives so it is highly competitive during those four years. The Army is at West Point, in West Point, NY. The Navy is at Annapolis in Annapolis, Maryland.
West point is one of the hardest universities to get into. i bet graduating from there looks fantastic on a job resume when you try to get a job if you choose not to be in the military for your whole working life.
Go Navy! Beat Army! My grandfather gave the ultimate sacrifice in the Navy, my Dad had a career of 23 years in the Navy, and I married a Midshipman who became a Marine. And later, I was a sponsor to Mids in Annapolis. So the Army Navy game means a lot to me and my family.
When I was in the Army, we would throw Army/Navy game parties that rivaled Super Bowl Parties. I had buddy from High School who was in the Navy and every year we would bet on the game.
The 2017 Army Navy Game Intro is the one I think best exemplifies what it means to Serve the Nation. You should watch it. And yes you can buy tickets to see the game.
I grew up in Arizona, and we are so proud of our Pat Tillman. He played college football here and then played pro in Arizona too. He is a national hero. Another notable arizonan with ties to the military is Lori Piestewa... no ties to football, but a true hero to us here in Arizona.
As a U.S. Navy Veteran, on Navy-Army Game day it seems the world stops for 3 hours. Like Brian Braswell said in his post, "This is THE only game where everyone on the field is willing to fight for everyone in the stands". I would add and they fight for everyone watching on T.V. or listening on the radio or on the internet. We have a saying in the U.S. Military, "We are the few who chose to write a 'check' to the Citizens of the United States of America up to and including my life". I am so proud to call myself a United States Navy Veteran. The Greatest Navy in the World!! As John F. Kennedy once said "Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what can you do for your country!" My paternal Grandfather and I and some of my cousins can say that "I served in This Country's Military Forces". To anyone who is thinking about enlisting into the Military in whatever country you are in, go and try and search for a veterans organization and ask them why did they join? If you do enlist, you will make friends to last a lifetime. GO NAVY!!!! BEAT ARMY!!!! FEAR THE GOAT!!!!
What has me confused is the names of the Academies. We all accept the US Military Academy @ West Point, so why not the US Military Academy @ Annapolis; US Air Force Academy in Colorado; US Coast Guard Academy @ New London, CT.
The service academies are federal institutions that provide an undergraduate education and train future commissioned officers for service in the U, S. Armed Forces. Applying to a Military Service Academy is a rigorous, highly competitive, and lengthy process only for the most determined and qualified candidates. They are the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (Army) at West Point NY, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis MD, the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs CO, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at New London CT, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point NY. To apply prospective students must obtain an official nomination from a United States Congressperson (except Coast Guard). Students (cadets) receive free tuition, books, room and board, medical and dental care, along with a monthly stipend to cover any other living expenses IN EXCHANGE FOR AN ACTIVE DUTY OBLIGATION (after graduation they are commissioned as the lowest rank of commissioned officer in their branch of service). The service obligation is 8 years currently with at least 5 years on active duty and the remaining 3 in the inactive reserve. Different careers in the military may require different time commitments after graduation, however. As for the academy lifestyle, you can expect to have a pretty structured schedule that is strict, conservative, and requires lots of discipline. Cadets are often not able to leave campus unless permission is granted and there are also strict rules in place. Students must participate in mandatory activities from 6 in the morning to 8 in the evening, then finish homework and study after those hours. In addition, cadets must stay on top of their physical endurance and participate in intramural or varsity sports.
There are videos that claim to list the "10 best college football team entrances" or something like that, but the games between Army, Navy, and Air Force are awe-inspiring on an entirely different level.
My best friend who is like a brother to me his daughter is at the Air Force Academy right now I am her adopted uncle and she’s my adopted niece I’m so proud of her
Hi Coutney! I'm the person (or at least one of) that sent those two videos to you. I have posted my recommendations for follow-up on your web page. In the description, I forgot to post a small glossary of terms that you might need to know. "March On" - Each academy's entire student body (Corp of Cadets = Army, Brigade of Midshipmen = Navy) "Prisoner Exchange" Those who attended the opposing academy as Exchange Students are ceremoniously sent back to their respective home academy prior to the game. "Singing Second" Refers to the Alma Maters. At the end of the game, the players of both schools stand before each of the student bodies, in turn and sing that school's Alma Mater. The losing team sings first. The winning team sings second. "Naptown" = Annapolis, home of the Naval Academy.
Each branch of the military has their own academy. Navy/Marine Corps is in Annapolis Maryland. Army is in West Point New York. Air Force is in Colorado Springs Colorado. The Coast Guard is in New London Connecticut. The Merchant Marine is in Kings Point New York. The Coast Guard and Merchant Marines are not military academies, since neither service falls under Department of Defense (DOD), but both are service academies. Each academy is a university with requirements similar to a normal university, but they have additional requirements both academically and otherwise as well as post-graduation requirements as well. Applicants must receive a nomination from a member of Congress, who only get one per year. It is truly the best of the best at each academy. For football, Air Force, Army and Navy compete for the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy. Note, the President is also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. While both Army and Navy play Air Force each year, the Army-Navy game is unique. It is typically played in Philadelphia (about 1/2 way between the two campuses) and is the last regular season game played. Many believe that it is the perfect college football game because the teams are usually evenly matched; fundamentals and disciplined play are emphasized (naturally); few, if any players will play professionally; and at the end of the game both teams line up to salute the Alma Mater (school song) of first the winning team and then the other as a show of respect.
You were so close in your summary. The team that loses has their Alma Mater played first. If you watch the broadcast everyone makes a big deal about "singing second". But this doesn't just happen for Army Navy football. The Alma Maters get played after every single sporting event between Army and Navy throughout the year.
@@strykerbravo9910 Yea, yea, yea you could have this day we’ll take tomorrow 😼 Btw Navy may carry our budget but there is no disputing who the real man of the house is
West Point is the Army Academy for prospective officers, the Annapolis is the Navy academy for the same purpose. Cadets and midshipmen graduate with a four degree in almost anything, then are required to serve a certain number of years as officers.

In this rivalry ( the only 3 way rivalry in college sports ) army plays navy in Annapolis, navy plays army at West Point ( New York ) Air Force plays both the winner of the game gets one point in the series and the winner receives the commander in chief trophy en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commander-in-Chief's_Trophy in the event each service school wins one game the current holder RETAINS the trophy ( the current holder is the naval academy and we won’t know who will be the 2020 champion until December 12th army faces navy
As a 20 year military veteran, I offer this information: The vetting process for entry in to any US Military Academy has to be of the highest standards (Not everyone who applies is accepted), Army is at West Point, New York (Called the US Military Academy at West Point), The Naval Academy is in Annapolis, Maryland. Army graduates are commissioned officers at the grade on Second Lieutenant, Naval Academy graduates are Commissioned Officers as US Navy Ensigns and US Marine Second Lieutenants, a four year active duty commitment is required upon graduation/commissioning. You should consider watching the "March On" of the men and women from both academies, which takes place prior to the game that is played in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's very impressive. Thank you for your post and reaction. I've been a "Sub" to your channel for some time, always enjoying your perspective....TC
Navy leads with 60 wins, 49 losses and 7 ties. The 2 academies have been playing each other since 1890 (Navy won the first game between them). GO NAVY BEAT ARMY! ⚓️🇺🇸⚓️
There are five US Military Service Academies West Point, NY, Army, founded 1808 Annapolis, MD, Navy, founded 1845 New London, CT, Coast Guard, founded 1876 Kings Point, NY, Merchant Marine, founded 1943 Colorado Springs, CO, Air Force, founded 1954
West Point is the US Army Military Academy. Annapolis is the US Naval Academy....pretty much every student gets a scholarship to attend the military academies. They do not pay for it...except after graduation they do have to serve for a certain amount of years. The academies are where most of the officers are trained and educated to serve and lead the enlisted.
Sports Illustrated published an article several years ago entitled "Fifty-Seven Things Right About Sports." One of the items on the list? "Army versus Navy in ANYTHING."
The Army/Navy game is always held in Philadelphia in December. There is usually snow and freezing temperatures. The Navy team is called the Midshipmen. The Army team is called the Golden Knights. You have to get a recommendation from your member of Congress to get into a military academy. That takes connections.
It doesn't take connections to get a congressional nomination. You have to interview in front of a panel and they evaluate you based on your resume and ability to answer questions during that environment. Army is the Black Knights, the Golden Knights is UCF. Army's mascot is a mule named Black Jack; Navy's is a Goat named Bill. The game is most often played in Philadelphia, but it has been played in DC, New York, Boston, Baltimore.
No, they have to get nominated from either Congress, vice president or the president they have to get a nomination to go to one of the service Academy I graduated from the Naval Academy. It’s an insane football game. ❤

These are great commercials and I have nothing but respect for those who are accepted and subsequently graduate from West Point, Annapolis or the Airforce Academy. Having said that, there should be the same recognition bestowed on the NCO's in the US Military, especially those who are senior NCO's. They are, without a doubt, the backbone of the US Military. God bless every E-5, E-6, E-7, E-8 and E-9 in the US Military. Hooah & OUT!
Army vs Navy drum line is always good fun and in order to be accepted to either of the Academys the student must have high scores in all subjects and have a letter of recommendation from their respective state senator. In my entire graduating class of 820 only 1 student was accepted to West Point Academy.
The Army and Navy academies are free money-wise, in fact you are actually paid a small stipend. Instead of paying for tuition you pay with years of service. Other colleges give scholarships to athletes, a free education for your sacrifice on the field. The game is so rich with tradition. Like the prisoner exchange ruclips.net/video/A48A4zUzezk/видео.html , Singing their fight songs (winner sings second) ruclips.net/video/rrsMc9AyLoU/видео.html, the game ball marathon relays, mascots, bonfires, and pushups every score. You have to have a congressional nomination to even be considered for entry to these schools (Air Force Academy too BTW). Without a 30 on your ACT you basically have no chance (slight exceptions are made for football recruits). These schools are realistically just as hard or harder to get into than Harvard or Yale.
One thing to remember about these teams is their commitment to the U.S. Military after graduation, no million dollar contracts, no TV commercials, no ESPY awards, the only headlines are usually if you Die in Battle. God bless the U.S. Military!

Or be the child of one who has received the Medal of Honor
Plus high class rank in high school , pass the physical test and be qualified medically too
Go Navy Beat Army! I wake up in the middle night yelling that. It’s just habit. Love the tradition.
😂😂 I love it
I wish you could see the actual beginning of the Army/Navy game.
You are getting emotional while I sit here with tears running down my cheeks. Love your videos.
I see..... keep your head up! Life will open up its opportunities for you.
Courtney You are a great anchor and narrator on all these videos 😂 Now you as a New Zealander I want to learn about your homeland, their people and cultures and way of life and the armed forces of your homeland. Never been there but heard and seen on the news
I have been to the Army Navy game it is the best game I've ever been to. The most powerful quote I've never heard from sports was 2017 "this is the only game in the world where everyone on the field is willing to die for everyone watching".
I like how she reacted and I grew up in Virginia and my cousin was in the army and that’s something I never thought about until now
The first game was in 1890. Navy leads the all time series 61-52 with 7 ties. Navy also has the longest winning streak with 14 in a row.
Oh really? How fascinating! Good to know. Thank you for that.
Army Navy game is the one game I wait to watch. Retired Navy after 31 years and it still gives me chills watch both schools March on to the field....Amazing what a great game no matter who wins....although I got to say it
GO NAVY BEAT ARMY
Thank you Courtney.
As a veteran of the army I would like to say to all those that make the sacrifice in service to our country ❤️
Go Army Beat Navy!
Thank you for your service! From a Navy granddaughter Go Navy Beat Army!
U make me proud to be an army veteran all over again 14 years after my service. Binging ur military reactions. 🥰🥰🥰
This is one of my favorite intro videos to Army Navy game. It’s from 2016, also this Saturday is this years Army Navy game
West Point, Annapolis Naval Academy, and the Air Force Academy are colleges, but the students all receive officer commissions in the military when they graduate. When you go to this school you are signing up for the military.
The Army-Navy game has a drum off before the game starts which is amazing! Go Navy, beat Army!
Army vet. GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY. 😎👍
Thank you for your service! Go Navy Beat Army!
Well said, Tracy... except that first part!
GO ARMY!! BEAT NAVY!! ;-)
Go ARMY BEAT NAVY! SINK THE SHIP! SINK THE SHIP!
Army-Navy is the one game where you are there as much for the audience as the football on the field.
No one pays to go to the academies so yes technically I suppose you could say they're on scholarships. Upon graduation you have a commitment to serve in the military for a total of 8 years.
HasBeen 1559 isn’t it five for the navy
@@jackmelton5777 It's a minimum 5 year commitment for all service academies.
It’s not 8 years active. It’s 5 years for West Point. And 3 years on call basically.
• Sing Second - Army/Navy 2018 Remaster [4k]
• Opening for Army-Navy Game 2017
• CBS Intro to 2016 Army-Navy Game Presented by USAA
• Army Navy tease 2014
• America the Beautiful by the United States Navy Band
The ONLY game, where everyone has volunteered to give their life, for yours.
GO ARMY; BEAT NAVY!!
West Point vs Annapolis, hell yeah.
We, in the military, will make of each other, but we stand together when our nation needs us!
My grandpa was in the Navy and when I was a little kid he gave me a Navy goat! What an awesome mascot! A goat!
You need an "appointment" by your congressman to get into either academy. It is VERY competitive.
The military academies provide an education on par with an Ivy league school. Acceptance to a military academy is extremely difficult
So funny, I'm at West Point right now supporting Cadet Leadership Training. Timing was perfect.
These videos always punch above their weight! Now, I'm cutting onions!
I was in the army for 16 yrs and this is one game I never miss. Go Army. Beat Navy
In addition, cadets must stay on top of their physical endurance and participate in intramural or varsity sports.
when the first guy said "im going to westpoint" it was like i walked into a -50 degree freezer Go army beat navy
There are videos that claim to list the "10 best college football team entrances" or something like that, but the games between Army, Navy, and Air Force are awe-inspiring on an entirely different level.
I love watching Courtney watch anything. 😍😍
"March On" - Each academy's entire student body (Corp of Cadets = Army, Brigade of Midshipmen = Navy)
"Prisoner Exchange" Those who attended the opposing academy as Exchange Students are ceremoniously sent back to their respective home academy prior to the game.
Michael Evans you’re wrong about the Coast Guard. It is a military academy and is under both the DOHS and DOD through the Navy.
You were so close in your summary. The team that loses has their Alma Mater played first. If you watch the broadcast everyone makes a big deal about "singing second". But this doesn't just happen for Army Navy football. The Alma Maters get played after every single sporting event between Army and Navy throughout the year.
U.S. Marine here, GO NAVY !!!!!!! Our sister branch

West Point is the Army Academy for prospective officers, the Annapolis is the Navy academy for the same purpose. Cadets and midshipmen graduate with a four degree in almost anything, then are required to serve a certain number of years as officers.
I'm a huge football fan. But pro. I never watch college football. But I never Ever miss that day in December when Army plays Navy. But I may have a stake in it as I was in the Army. So...
Army Spirit video Lead from the Front best spirit video we have made yet GO ARMY!!!! BEAT NAVY!!!!
One of your best videos ever, Courtney.
Army Navy is a long tradition...HUGE rivalry....
Army graduates are commissioned officers at the grade on Second Lieutenant,
Naval Academy graduates are Commissioned Officers as US Navy Ensigns and US Marine Second Lieutenants, a four year active duty commitment is required upon graduation/commissioning. You should consider watching the "March On" of the men and women from both academies, which takes place prior to the game that is played in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's very impressive. Thank you for your post and reaction. I've been a "Sub" to your channel for some time, always enjoying your perspective....TC
Thank you so much for sharing this with me and I am glad you appreciate the content!! Hope everything is going well for you :)
Navy leads with 60 wins, 49 losses and 7 ties. The 2 academies have been playing each other since 1890 (Navy won the first game between them). GO NAVY BEAT ARMY! ⚓️🇺🇸⚓️
This video made me smile
There are five US Military Service Academies
West Point, NY, Army, founded 1808
Annapolis, MD, Navy, founded 1845
New London, CT, Coast Guard, founded 1876
Kings Point, NY, Merchant Marine, founded 1943
Colorado Springs, CO, Air Force, founded 1954
Wear Point was on 1802
Would like to see you do one "Worst Wrecks Of The PBR" 2017-2019
It has also been held in New York City and Washington, D.C. and 1 time at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA
My son didn’t have any connections and got 2 nominations to West Point and one to naval academy
I watched that game, was an awesome game
11:23 "Beat Navy games" Ladies and gentleman, we got 'em. Go Army.
Also, if you were looking to go back to this topic, look up the West Point "Sing Second" video, or any of the "Army Navy spirit videos"
GO NAVY BEAT ARMY!
Military!
GO NAVY!!! 8 year navy vet here.
