Thank you! I agree. Politics aside, these men and women are still prepared to sacrifice their lives for their country. it's admirable and I think people should, at the very least, respect that.
@Poole The greatest country in the world is a subjective term... While sure, we don't have the health care or education of other developed countries (which in my opinion needs to be fixed), to act like we are inferior is ridiculous. I want you to realize that the U.S. military is carrying the weight of the world on it's shoulder. And to sit there and act like we don't disproportionately fund the international monetary fund, NATO, and the world bank is ridiculous. We are stationed in more than 70 countries (might I add to protect them), and so we obviously have less income for social services. We spend more money on global efforts (be it military technology, bio-technology, medicine, etc.) and so it is significantly more difficult for us to provide public assistance. And so by the metrics I'm assuming that you are using, we are most likely not the greatest country in the world. But if you think about our impact and our power in attempts to help others (regardless of our actual success in helping other nations) we are by far the best country. Again, by certain measures you can make your argument very valid, but when you look at the whole picture... America's government and policies has been one of the best (if not the best) things to happen to humanity as a whole. You can ridicule the U.S. all you want, but America has helped humanity by margins that were historically incapable. While the U.S. isn't a direct democracy, it sets the framework for democracies globally.

Thousands more were Left Behind in North Korea (many transferred to Communist China and the USSR/Russia). Hundreds were Left Behind in Vietnam and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. Several hundred more have been Left Behind in Iran, and in other Sh!th0les across the globe since the 1930's... Every time I deployed for combat, or even on training missions, we were briefed, and most of us understood that circumstances (Political Considerations) might preclude even an Attempt to rescue my comrades or myself. SERE (Survival / Evasion / Resistance / and Escape) training prepared us to ideally Evade being captured, and if possible, to Escape to a friendly, or at least neutral area.
That's pretty much the only truly exceptional thing about the U.S. their military capabilities. Foreign policy wise they may not do the right thing like...ever but they are terrifyingly fearsome doing it. And hurting alot of innocents and creating new terrorists in the process.
Of the few stories that we know about the seals, this is my favorite. Jessica was doing work that could easily qualify her as, "the best of us." When she found herself in terrible trouble, she got the very best America could send to bring her home. Love watching your reactions Courtney. Keep em coming.
This happens more often than most people are aware of. You’re going to have to dig for the stories but US special forces rescue quite a few Americans all over the world.
She can actually find out, there is a system for declassifying operations and such. It will just take several years, between ten and twenty five iirc. Once it is, just a matter of actually tracking said information down.
@@throwaway2803 The only way you can declassify information is if all parties involved are no longer active duty (there are a lot more other variables as well, also including party consent). If a Seal doesn't wan't to be named, they won't be named. Last thing we want is radical terrorists tracking them down after they've been exposed.
The reason is because SEAL Training is designed to find your mental weaknesses, and Hell Week is designed to make you suffer by pushing you to your absolute physical limit. To make it past that, you have to face yourself, something most people will never truly do. When you’re suffering and being tortured and berated, all your insecurities come up when you ask yourself “What the fuck am I doing here?”. If you’re insecure and have issues you haven’t dealt with, it will make you quit.
Owens Channel No, they’re not. They’re not trained to do the same things, so there’s absolutely no way to definitively say any is “better”. You’re comparing apples and oranges and making a complete fool of yourself.
Yep, so free that we can't even play poker for money unless in very specific locations. Can't use specific drugs because they are unhealthy but you can eat McDonalds until you are 400 lbs. Can drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes until you rot inside but can't do likewise with other drugs.
WELL SAID KEVIN! I wish we would all stop fighting one another and realize that when you consider what’s going on in the world, WE ARE ALL VERY LUCKY TO BE AMERICANS! We are not the Greatest Nation in the world because of what we do, it’s because of WHAT WE BELIEVE IN...................FREEDOM!
I keep coming back to this video. As a New Zealander, I have to admit, you are a great American. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the greatness of the people and their stories.
I think that if any of our Anzacs or British allies asked for similar help, we would try to oblige, you are our kith and kin. I'm not sure that the current occupant of the White House has all of his marbles in his head, though, he and his family are compromised by deals with the Chynese, and there is an attempt to "wokify" the US military.🤔
@James Reilly Thats what the news wants you to think. Half the pople calling for "civil war" really aint about that life anyways. There is a silent majority, and we would go to bat for each other.
@James Reilly Definetely outside and internal interference, i agree. However, there's gotta be two sides to fight, its pretty easy to see which side holds the power. I live in Arizona and the people who would disagree with me and want to do something will do nothing, they cry about people shouldn't be allowed to own an Ar15, or mad that i would support law enforcement, those people hide behind politicians and the internet, they are not going to actually engage in a civil conflict... Theyre too soft man. They aint about that action boss. It is going to be conservative Americans engaging the government, which is still essentially civil war, but I dont see like a Union vs. South situation.
No matter what happens that’s negative in this Country, WE STILL LIVE IN AMERICA WHICH IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD! It’s not based on what we do always because we do make mistakes! Rather, we live in the Greatest Country in the World because of WHAT WE BELIEVE IN! IT’S BECAUSE OF FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING IN THE WORLD! THAT’S WHY!
Your video reminded me of a show where members of three different spec ops teams - American PMC (former Army Rangers), Russian SPETZNAZ, and Navy SEALs - competed in different challenges to see which team was the best of the best. The SPETZNAZ were eliminated and it came down to the PMCs and the SEAL team in the third and final round where they each had to infiltrate a guarded compound, rescue a wounded hostage (a dummy that they had to carry), and exfil to the top of a large hill to win the competition in the middle of a sweltering desert. Well, the SEAL team won and the PMCs were having such a hard time, they ran out of water and just gave up on their way up the hill. You know what the SEAL team did next? They went back down the hill and helped those guys, with their dummy hostage, up the hill. That encapsulated for me the kind of men that become Navy SEALs. They had already won the competition but instead of just sitting on the hill boasting of their victory, they transcended the competition and proved - without a doubt - why they are considered the best of the best.
spetsnaz encapsulates special forces in russia composed of police forces and military alike. Vympel are the guys that can go toe to toe with any special forces around the world, but you will never see them in a competion or writing books. There are no more than 1000 active vympel operatives and that includes the paper pushing fellas and the guys that typically answer phones all day long and not just the operators.
The SEALS, along with the other branches of Special Forces, prefer to remain anonymous. It's a security thing, as well as a bit of pride. They don't want the accolades.
The most amazing thing is...the SEALS never revealed themselves while protecting her with their lives and gone into the darkness with no awards, not recognitions.
They have their reward: the fact that an innocent person was rescued out of harms way. Anyone who is willing to take a bullet or grenade for someone knows that there is no greater reward than seeing that person go home safe. That's all there is to it. Money or applause doesn't mean squat. It is character from deep within that counts.
I can’t thank you enough for posting this video. I’m an American and there’s folks here who wanna take us down from the inside. I’m so Sorry to say these liberals here are like the Somali’s. When people ask me "why does the US spend so much on its military" or "why is the US so involved in everything around the world". This is my answer and one of my personal favorite stories. Edit: my understanding on the seal teams and seal team six. There are many seal teams, but the numbers are often rotated and some designated numbers are entirely non-existent. For example seal team two (just making this up to illustrate how secretive the teams are kept) may not be a real team this month as there may not be anyone physically on the team. As for "seal team six", within the seal teams there is a higher tier team which is often referred to as "seal team six". But almost certainly doesn't go by that designation. The reason for all the secrecy around the teams is to protect the units members and their families and to help prevent opposing forces from knowing exactly who and what has potentially been deployed against them.
I don't know how many actual SEAL teams exist but when Team 6 was created there was only Team 1 and 2. The number 6 was given to throw off our Cold War enemies at the time to make them think there were 6 teams. There was one team stationed on the east coast and one team stationed on the west coast. Read the book Rogue Warrior about the beginnings of SEAL Team 6.
Being part of a military family in the US, sometimes you forget how important all the work is and it makes me so proud that every generation of my family has served since we were considered nothing but a rebellious colony. Our wall of service in my grandparents house always makes me proud but when I see videos like this it makes me cry full grown bald eagles.
I have had the honor to have worked along side men like "THESE FEW, THESE REMARKABLE FEW" a number of times. As a PJ, I was respected and treated as an equal. That is something worth more to me, then any award, ribbon, or metal that was presented to me in my 25 years of service.
PJs are awesome people. I once gave a briefing to a group of PJs at a deployed location, and their team lead gave me a Green Feet poker chip as a way of saying thanks. It sits in my display cabinet, right alongside my award coins, because I consider a simple thank-you from those warriors to be an award in itself.
@@andercrash3602 I agree with you 100% about PJ's. In 1969 at Shepard AFB I was an Instructors Assistant and a group of PJ's were there for some refresher/further training. Besides being top-notch Medical Personal and great guys, you knew instinctively not to F**K with them if you valued your life. I eventually became an AeroMed with the 375th Aeromed Evac Sq. and got to more PJ's. Definitely great guys.
Massive respect to the SEALS. Awesome job and clearly selfless when it comes to protecting the good people. I certainly wouldn't want to piss them off though, that's for sure. Good to see Jessica looking good too and getting on with her life. Massive respect to her and her fellow captive Paul. Two big hearts that deserve the best in life.
We simply exist to protect you, that's our very nature. So, yes, of course we'll sort things out and rescue you, no matter the nation or military, it's our very nature to do that. We serve to protect you. Always. Why ever would you even tinker with a notion otherwise? I'm US Army, retired, served with Commonwealth SAS and some SBS, not a one questions that notion. Give us a quarter of a chance, you're going home again. What astonishes me is that you are surprised! Even today, while walking with a cane, I'd rescue you, due to well, simply, honor.
The name of the SEAL Operator from DEVGRU that carried her to the helicopter landing zone is Justin K Sheffield, and he writes about this in his book entitled "MOB VI". MOB VI was the name Richard Marcinko gave the unit when he stood them up as their first commanding officer. I would like to note that Justin doesn't name her though the description of the rescue is exactly hers except from his perspective. Jessica, and her colleague were extremely lucky.
Yup the US if far from perfect but its significantly closer than any other country in human history. I will never go to the UK or anywhere else in the commonwealth because I will not go somewhere I can be arrested for saying "men are men, women are women"
"I can't believe they took down 9 bandits like that". Miss, a couple things to keep in mind. One, they wouldn't have made the attempt without overwhelming force on the objective. 3:1 in that kind of situation are considered acceptable odds. Two. The US tier 1 units, as well as UK and other NATO units, are the best at this kind of work. They have equipment that turns complete darkness to bright daylight, giving them a force multiplier that unequaled. And, what I consider last, hostage rescue is probably THE most important mission, on a personal level, that these troops undertake. Saving innocents is really what it's all about.
Chaos Gonaway The other Jessica was in the Army and was captured during battle (Shock and Awe) when Iraq 🇮🇶 had taken over Qatar 🇶🇦, so she had a serious reason to be there.

True of most US special forces, the seals don't look for, or want, special recognition. They each know, they did the job, completed the mission. That's all they need. As a Navy veteran, I know that it's a rare type of man to take up the challenge of being a SEAL. I'm very thankful to have fellow Americans that answer the call to be the best, at everything, and never quit.
I forgot who said it, but: "Americans can sleep safely because those who wish us harm, know we have men who will go out at night to deal violence to them." (May not be an exact quote.)

Not quite the same, but i had just arrieved in London to meet my best friend when i was stationed in Spain. It was the first time seeing him in 15 years or so. After he picked me up at the airport we were going to Picadilly and rode the tube. We got off at a stop a few stops before to walk and i saw a young woman being harrasssed by a by a man on a bicycle. I told my friend to speed up. i got between her and that guy and my friend on the other side and i said in my best Chicago accent, "Hey, how you doing?" I introduced myself and we started talking and ignored that guy. He said something stupid and i replied, "You step off that bike it will be worst mistake in your soon to end life." he rode off, nearly getting hit by a passing car in the process. I laughed loudly for him to hear. Walked her to bus stop where she got on and we walked away.

This happens more often than most people are aware of. You’re going to have to dig for the stories but US special forces rescue quite a few Americans all over the world.
It’s crazy to think she will never know who those SEALs were
She can actually find out, there is a system for declassifying operations and such. It will just take several years, between ten and twenty five iirc. Once it is, just a matter of actually tracking said information down.
And of course there will be books, SEALs have mandatory book writing classes

Yeah, no. Mr. Obama sent the SEALs.
Dam crazy. We can see in Ukraine how over rated spetnaz is.
And those were probably Tier 2 unit seals. Not even Tier 1.

A country's military is just as important as their education and housing
I don't know how many actual SEAL teams exist but when Team 6 was created there was only Team 1 and 2. The number 6 was given to throw off our Cold War enemies at the time to make them think there were 6 teams. There was one team stationed on the east coast and one team stationed on the west coast. Read the book Rogue Warrior about the beginnings of SEAL Team 6.
@@davidwolf6253 those little tactics governments do is so cool and fasinating
