that's werid because to me, aenima and lateralus are completely different from one another, my expectation is something with the sound quality and intensity from 10000 days and the complexity and mytstical aspect of lateralus, altought, every tool album has been different, this new one might not be an exception.
I hope it’s more in line with whatever direction they creatively feel and be genuine with their fans and not in line with a past album for the sake of being in line with a past album.

I'm super excited and pumped, but don't expect that at. I think it will be absolutely amazing and not a let down, but for my tastes, Ænima and Lateralus were the pinnacle. Especially Ænima, that's the style of Tool and Maynard that I prefer and why I still listen to it on the regular.

I still listen to Aenema and Lateralus and I always hear something that I missed. Lateralus is a work of genius and people who do not understand Tool will never appreciate the fact that it is based on an ancient mathematical formula, every aspect of the song will never be surpassed or emulated by another band.

The fact that Maynard shows he’s booked until March 2019 leads me to have a little more hope the release date will be Fall ‘18, with a several month world tour to follow-ending in Spring ‘19. (A Spring ‘19 release date would either leave him with an open window in late ‘18, or keep him booked up through Fall of ‘19).

the last date of APCs summer tour is atm July 01, so if they dont add anymore shows or even if they do, i would bet that Sept/Oct is when we will see the new Tool record, as Maynard has spoken how its customary for a spring or fall release, so we may very well be beginning the year with a new APC and ending it with a new Tool.
