Chinedu Opara - The briefing sometimes doesn't take place until they arrive at the staging point on base and given the mission, then a few hours to load up and gear up, assuming the mission is not too complex and requires a lot of planning and practice runs beforehand.
Large decisions could be made on the way while small to moderate decisions on the spot since theyre very mature and make excellent judgements with pressure.

I once had a goal of making it to Delta some day. I had made through the Special Forces Assessment & Selection at Ft. Bragg NC and moved there from Ft. Lewis to attend the SFQC and get my Green Beret. An unfortunate airborne incident occurred when I was around the SUT phase, giving me a major injury that resulted in two hip surgeries. They dropped me from the course at that point, after a year in training.
There was a Delta compound that was guarded by guys in full kit with rifles. Even at the main gates for Bragg we only carried a sidearm. I wanted to be part of it so bad!
I'm sorry to here that
Sorry to hear that. But there are still other exciting units to be part of. You beat me too it. The Battle of Mogadishu is by far delta's highest profile engagement due to Black Hawk Down and it wasn't even mentioned smh.
My dad was in the Army and much of that time he was stationed at Ft. Bragg, the home of Special Forces including Delta Force. My dad has drove me by the Delta compound when we would go deer hunting. You don't see much besides a tall fence with razor wire and a guard building at the gate. It's been about 20 years so maybe it's different now. I also had a friend whose dad was (supposedly) Delta. I don't know if he was support or what. I just shook his hand at my friend's birthday party. He obviously couldn't give any details about what he did, but my friend told me that there are times where he'll have to leave with little to no notice to some unspecified location for some unspecified amount of time.
Yeah, it's still like that, my wife was lost and used their drive to turn around, she said the next thing she knew her car was surrounded by a couple soldiers with M4s in her face, yelling at her to get out of there, she was freaking out, I thought it was pretty funny, I told her there was a reason why the GPS was blacked out, it's cause your not supposed to be there lol
Hmm. Could be the milk man
I was in a shooting class once. 2 guys teaching were retired marines the main instructor tho was a retired delta force operator. Great teacher and really nice guy. He told me a really messed up story about him and a buddy who shot a man with a machine gun 7 times in the head before he died
I don't think that's humanly possible. Pretty sure after the 3rd shot there would be nothing left to shoot or count.
Better to say they shot a guy in the head at the same time and fired five more rounds to where it was.
Fun little thing I’ve read in a book about these guys mostly speculative I assume. When you have X amount of years and going in for a special operation contract like Green Berets there is going to be a chance you would get pulled to the side by another CO about going to be apart of a different spec op group. Which then(if you accept) be going to their basic training with a hundred of other people.
The challenge that they focus on will be outside of the box thinking and effectiveness of actions. A test that disqualifies a lot of people is that they give you a simple goal to achieve with no other information or guidance of how you complete it. (I think of it like an employer giving you a day to study what you will do before they drop you in the middle of a slow shift and aspects you to perform well.)
Basically what you get are very very intelligent unorthodox problem solving soldiers. I assume they take the hardest hardest missions because they mostly run their own recon and figure out a way to capture the target with the items they have
You're not wrong, that's how they do it! Very little info or guidance, dropped on the side of a mountain. It can also be people from outside JSOC (like intel) and from across all branches.

When I was in the 101st a few guys from my unit and myself received “invitations” to come to a recruiting brief for Delta. I don’t know all of the criteria they look for, but we were all Medics and 11 series (Infantry MOS’s) and all possessed multiple bolo badges (Air Assault, EFMB, EIB, Airborne, etc) as well as expert weapons qualification badges. I ended up tearing my right MCL before I could decide though. Hopefully that info is helpful.

The helicopters used in Eagle Claw were not Air Force. They were Navy, flown by Marine pilots. Last few covert special forces missions gave us all the proof we need to confirm that Delta Force is the best and the most capable American special forces unit. Period. Delta Force operatives confirmed without a doubt that their level of professionalism and a sense of duty goes above and beyond any other similar force within the JSOC. I would especially point out their superiority over another famous Tier 1 special forces unit - SEAL TEAM 6.
I was massively dissapointed in members of the SEAL 6 after the Operation Neptune spear, more famously known as a Bin Laden raid. Operation was executed flawlessly and those guys could be proud of themselves. But the part that came after the operation was long gone made me ashamed of the men who were part of that mission. Instead of keeping the mission details to themselves and ignoring the glory and the public's praise and spot light, some of the guys couldn't wait to go out and talk to the media about the specifics of the mission, and what's even worse, started to fight between themselves about who pulled the trigger and actually killed Bin Laden. All of their hard work was destroyed by their attention seeking and a greed to write a book and cash out on the mission. I couldn't believe when I saw what was happening and was surprised that the military had no mechanisms to prevent these kind of situations through signing some sort of confidentiality agreements or even threatening with court marshal. SEAL Team 6 lost most of my respect because of the few idiots who couldn't stay professional to the end. And the irony of it all is the fact that the guys who kept their mouths shut ans remained members of the elite team, were all killed when their Chinook helicopter was shot down.
Now compare that post operation fiasco with the events that followed and sorounded another high level operation, this time performed by the Delta Force. I'm talking about their successful tracking down and killing of the infamous Abu Bagr Al- Bagdadi. That operation was also executed professionally and perfectly but there wasn't a single leak by the members of the team that wanted their piece of the glory or money by spilling out the details about the operation.
These two operations showed to the world that Delta Force is a notch above and beyond any other special forces unit within the JSOC. Bravo to the guys..
I agree with you, but the DEVGRU operators killed in extortion 17 belong to Gold squadron and were not the ones who participated in neptune spear, which was carried out by Red squadron.
My own theory is that OBL was in fact captured and not killed in the raid, and certain 6 guys were allowed to talk about it as cover.
Obama destroyed their mystique by outing them immediately after the mission was over
Captain America , black widow , Hawkeye are all delta force agents technically
Stealth , infiltration ect
They are way more elite than Delta Force operators. They are SHIELD operatives, which the agency itself is already highly classified and Steve, Natasha, Clint are all more elite and deadly operatives than regular SHIELD operatives.

Nixon wasn't impeached,he resigned, although the impeachment process did start.
He did get impeached. Impeachment is a president going to congressional hearing for criminal acts. Removal from office isn't always the sentence. Though he resigned and THEN was found guilty anyway
Yeah actually he wasn't impeach yet. But the process was starting. Before anything can happen further, he resigned. But President Ford later pardoned him. Impeach basically is the House of Representatives making the move to vote him out of office that's when it's considered impeach, then it will be up to the Senate to put a trial on him whether to convict him, if convicted then he will be removed from office, if not convicted then he will stay in office. Bill Clinton is an example, he was impeached by the House, but the Senate didn't convict him, so he remained in office.
The irony is that at the time Nixon's reasoning for raiding the DNC due to Russian influence was considered an excuse at the time, but now today we know that Moscow actually was directly giving orders to several key democrat lobbyists in order to try and sway the outcome of the cold war. Even the CIA director at the time thought something was going down but at the time couldn't prove it, and then was ousted for propagating a conspiracy theory.
The cold war was almost lost when the democrats cut funding to the CIA's operations department, which caused Reagan to do the Iran Contra scandal to keep it funded. Which was totally illegal, but everyone basically gave him a pass because Reagan was the one who ended the cold war because of it, pretty much saving countless lives given Kennedy almost got us in a M.A.D. nuclear war prior.
