Back when ACL still had great artists on . Eric is a class act no matter what he plays & he can play the Blues with the best of them. Same with his choice of the bands he put together, always first class. 🎸🎶
WOW!!! Kinda like Cliffs of Dover in a sense BUT everyone who knew THIS title DID NOT know where this was going. What a great complete restatement of the tune! I thought he was going to play it down BUT NO he pulls out the 64th notes at a tempo that was breathtaking. Great work from other cats especially the drummer!
Man-o-man… can this guy shred. He flies through his riffs with lightning speed. I enjoy his playing nearly as much as Joe Satriani. Eric is certainly up there with the bests.
Eric rises about most because of his violin type clarity. He is pitch perfect and can be blindfolded and tell any note, just by hearing. That is per his drummer Tommy Taylor.
Eric scared younger me with his fretting fingers. I still can't pull it off without putting semi normal chord voicing. If difficulty level exists Mr Johnson on another level
At least the song is in A Minor here. 😊 simple key! Im trying to work out the spread triad voicings he uses. Also theres a touch of delay on his guitar.
@@paullevine1813 the opposite actually, Kyle & Tommy were his AvM era lineup and as far as I know that lineup didn’t reunite until the reunion tour a few years back. Roscoe has played with EJ off and on since around “Tones” or even prior. So I guess it’s true that Tommy & Kyle succeeded him at one point. However he also played on AvM. Brannen Temple (the drummer) only worked with him around the time this video was made I think (Venus Isle era). The keyboardist, Stephen Barber, has worked with Eric since the Electromagnets days. However this is just in regards to his live lineup - his records tend to feature a medley of musicians, a few dozen in all throughout the years.
This is the best rendition of "Rock Me Baby" I've ever heard...Love it.!
The bass player and drummer are SOLID big time!! They set it up E J nailed it big time!!
My cousin Joe was his manager. Joe has since passed on, but, my God, how lucky was he to hear Eric play every day!
The contrast from his singing voice to his conversation voice is striking. 🤯

That huge violin like guitar tone and his playing style is so instantly recognizable
Straight up bad ass, the tone, the blues vibe, glad I stumbled into this!
Dear lord so glad I found this vid. Thanks, God bless.
5:14 - Melodic heaven
Amazing player and tone to D-I-E for.
Angels in Heaven tune their harps to Eric's Strat
This song is a masterpiece. The tone and flow is amazing. Incredible reproduction of BB King's masterpiece.
EJ is a magnificent guitar genius
Best Strat tones ever
Godlike...and that Strat is so beautifull.
Violin big as a house!

Concordo plenamente com vc, Steve Lacina.
Go watch Trail of Tears for his ACL show in 88'. That whole entire show is gold. Manhattan from the G3 show is breathtaking, go watch that one.

I think Eric is much more melodic than Joe. Just my opinion. Eric seems to flow like a form of liquid music...
@@rodgerrodger1839 Yes...You nailed it 👍 That's exactly what it is ..
Roscoe Beck on bass
they know about the blues down in Texis
Saw him at the Cumberland River in Nashville supporting BB King and other greats.
He's got the touch.
one for the best covers ever

Fantastic
Bravissimo the best blues
С удовольствием послушал,клевый чувак,не знал о таком)
Excellent whoa This guy is good Thank you for posting
I like it a lot!
Roscoe Beck putting on a bass workshop …
This is great!
Amazing👍
Wow! ish Must be from Canada. Nope, home grown right here in the USA. yAY!
It's live from Austin City Limits, Austin, TX
Liked and subscribed thanks for this upload. I want to a transcription of the intro, up until the vocals come in. Who would be interested???
Nesse Show, no vídeo de 30 minutos. Tem outras músicas. Remasterize elas TB! Por favor.
Eu remasterizei ele inteiro, mas no outro canal o Eric deu strike... então prefiro manter assim. Talvez poste a SRV
@@LucasGarcia-go2gl minha preferida desse Show é a Righteous. Realmente, as músicas do Eric são bem chatas, levam Strike mesmo.
@@LucasGarcia-go2gl posta no Rumble, em outro lugar... Eu preciso desse show remasterizado kkkkk
I've only heard Bruney Marsden and Jeff Beck get that kind of Tone and sound out of Guitar.
Beautiful song!! 😍😘👌 Tabs?
Only 43000 views ??
I'm hoping EJ knows this song is NOT about "rolling wagon wheels" in TX..🤣 I have this song nailed by the way. 👍💪
Subilo completo 😅
This should be called Hendrix elevator jam.
Srv place
Oh, somebody PLEASE TAB out those chords in the intro...
Still want the tabs for the chords???
@@theshredguitarist25You bet, The usual l-lV-V ain't cuttin' it.

this is one of the weirdest comment sections I’ve ever seen on a guitar based video
What do you mean? Most of the comments are about the song or the guitar playing. 😊
What year is this video from ?
1996. (It's in the title of the video).

Where's Tommy n Kyle?
Russel, They came in later after Roscoe & this drummer had left the band. This was an old segment from Austin City Limits.

Well, he's no blues singer. Helluva guitar player though.
🤣
I think it fits very well to his guitar tone and style...
I love his voice.
obviously you're not either
Maybe not but his voice is heavenly and pure and perfectly complements his amazing playing...
I like Eric and he's and mazing player but Rock me baby is a blues /rock song. He jazzed it up way too much, and his voice is no rock voice!
