Please take a moment to learn what this word means. I see it used incorrectly all over RUclips for some reason. Eric is anything BUT underrated. Universally loved by his many fans, hailed by musical critics, held in the highest esteem by his peers. Maybe learn a new adjective?
Thank God for lockdown or I wouldn't have discovered this amazing player.
How great it is to live in this time.I bought EJ'Tones LP when it came out. You could only imagine back then, what and how these guys did it.Now, some 30 yrs later, you flip on RUclips and there it is. One of the greatest musicians. Ever. Soak it up, good people.
Best clean tone ever created.
never get tired of Eric Johnson
I love this guy. EJ , you got some serious soul my man.
+Eric Bolt Everytime I listen/watch his performance in "Trail of Tears" I choke up and my eyes well up, because his tone and playing just blows my mind everytime!
This is my favorite Venus Isle tune, and one of my fav EJ songs period. I was beaming when he started the intro to it at the Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI this year. No one really seemed to respond to it initially, but at the end he received quite the ovation.
Jimi would be very proud and impressed. Best homage yet to May This Be Love!
I call him the "spider crab" because no-one I've seen could stretch to those combos. Extraordinary. Superb melodic tracks throughout his work. He's my No.1 guitarist. Watch his tour with Satriani & Vai - he's the one leaning at the back against the speakers - just doing it!. You won't see this again!.
Side note: Three cheers to the drummer and bass who were well able to keep up with this.
We love you so much Eric! Srsly brother... You have taught me n eespecially my amazing guitarist husband so much!
Pls stay healthy and keep creating amazing peices such as this!
We hope to ask your management to work with you soon!
It would be a dream come true to have a tour with the great EJ!!!
Holy crap. I just had to get up and applaud Eric's performance right here!!! Chills!!
One of the gentlest guitarist ever. Gentle tones and rhymes
I keep coming back to this time and time again. It's such a great performance all around. EJ is the BEST!!!
Beautiful
A rare talent with his girl Virginia. A rare 54 Strat. Both killin it, on a typical EJ day. After listening to Eric, I’m always left in a better place. 😎
480 thousand views!!! It should be 480 million.
Eric Johnson is phenomenally talented.
Even God could not hit some EJ runs!!!
SImply briliant "musicianship". His use of poly tonal pivoting at 9:00 reminds me of Bach. EJ has got so much more taste, tone, and song writing ability than any other so-called "shredders" out there. Phenomenal musician!
wish i could give 10000000 likes and even that is not enough.......love this what an angel! respect man and best wishes!
Thank God for musicians like Eric who CREATE beautiful landscapes of sound....vocals, rythmn and lead guitar playing, bass guitar and drums. Love and Respect to you Eric!
Johnson , the perfect guitar player ,very clean player , can play anything , great sound ,
The whole package
This song is IMHO - my ultimate inspirational song. I always listen to this particular song whenever I need to uplift my mood = beautiful lyrics, angelic guitar chord progressions. Venus Isle album will always remain my ultimate EJ album. I thank him from the bottom of my heart for that masterpiece. Manhattan is my all time guitar instrumental. God Bless you EJ.
Being able to sing and play that at the same time is the stuff of immortals! Wow, the godlyness of this performance...
+Loddentidster I agree. I play guitar too-nothing like him though, and if I play anything and sing at the same time, it is usually something pretty basic.
Another musician who can play well and sing well at the same time
is John Sykes (ex-Whitenake, Thin Lizzy) Check out one of his solo shows.
Eric is a more amazing songwriter though--this stuff is absolutly brilliant and
spirtually uplifting. One of the most musical players I think, nobody quite like him
+Loddentidster Playing the guitar and singing is effortless for me , HOWEVER , playing the drums and singing, NO WAY. When you get older your voice changes , plus all the years of stressing the vocal chords. The voice is truly an instrument in itself. Bless.
i feel like i'm floating through the sky on a sunny day
He is a gift from the universe.... let's enjoy it
Keep playing eric your the greatest and you music brings light to us all on a dark day we love u GOD BLESS YOU ZORBA NJ
It's amazing what comes off his guitar. Beautiful
So cool, so humble…AND ONE BAD ASS SIX STRING SLINGER!!!!Loved him since I bought the Venus Aisle CD back in the day….BUT THIS VERSION IS HANDS DOEN THE BEST, maybe top 5 solo’s I’ve ever listened or watched…This man is amazing…so just versatile and totally a musical person to the core.
This whole band is of impeccable quality. Good up tempo drummer and incredibly disciplined and elegant tasteful playing by the bassist. Also Eric has a good voice but to keep that together with his playing is something amazing. Very soothing and warming song. One of the very best on YT imo!
This is my favourite trio I've heard him play with. Definitely more than just 4/4 blah blah blah.
エリックに出会ってから音楽の素晴らしさを改めて思い知った!
世界で1番尊敬しているミュージシャンです。
これからも元気で音楽活動を続けて欲しい!
thats some crazy playing to do without singing but he does both perfectly and switches from lead to rhythm seemlesly. very few humans can do this live while creating music🙀🙌🏿
One of the best guitarists I know an underrated artist. 2022
He really is exceptionally good. The chords, the melody, tone and the lyrical style, to those licks really is just amazing.
damn how can he play and sing like that at the same time.
simply put eric johnsons phrasing is the best i've ever heard
Phrase Johnson's Eric is the best I've ever seen.
8/10
mallrat11 Eric Johnson and Chris Poland are two of my favorite guitarists for their phrasing, melody, as well as tactful speed licks. Whenever I get stuck in a rut playing guitar, I always think about what they might do.
ERIC should take a world tour while he can man. He is a legend
This is my stairway to heaven ! This song climbs me so high. Each time the same power. How can I be more grateful than by saying that I can travel the entire universe listening to EJ, mostly when he is transcending scales, tones, chords like that !
Keep on dreaming !
One of the greatest guitarists in history. He ranks, for me, up there with Hendrix, Trower, Holdsworth, Marino, Vaughan--few others with all due respect. Prolific, a Visionary, and just plain good.
