Thanks very much it's so incredible for me to have found someone who understands what life is like with a TBI, I live in the UK and even the neurologist I see just doesn't get it. And also some of my friends, I am learning so much from you. Thank you so much it makes me realise I am not on my own

Thanks so much for all of the information below. I am so very glad I found you. I have started to see a therapist who practices EMDR-Therapy. Would you tell me how Neurofeedback and EMDR=Therapy compare? I suffered a TBI at the age of 27. I am now almost 66 and semi-retired.
I have had to remain in the work place for all these years (mostly in and out of numerous jobs over the course of my career) since in 1978 there was no real information on traumatic brain injury and I was released after 2 weeks in the hospital to fend for myself and 1 1/2 years on disability. No real contact with any medical personnel during that time period. Actually if I hadn't met my husband I would have been with no support whatsoever.
I am still trying to remain in the work place, but as I age, it seems to keep getting more tedious. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Hi Claire, I am glad you found me too. Neurofeedback and EMDR are very different. EMDR is for healing trauma... also a great therapy!

I'm crying my eyes out.... I feel so betrayed and abused by my family .I was looking up organizers and saw this and others like this... I was in a motorcycle accident without a helmet and my friend died on impact I flew 35ft and broke my hip pelvis tailbone right hand ankle I had a 12 hr surgery blood transfusion my right hand also had another specialist to operate on that as well. I didnt know what a brain injury was so my family thought I was normal and ok! They didnt understand about brain injuries nor would they research any of it! It's now 7 yrs later crying.... why didnt anyone help me and my doctor would just give me check ups and mean while I'm sleep all day and falling all over things not wanting to shower and get frustrated over washing dishes! I was never like this before! I was a go getter do it myself and always the woman that if you needed anything I'd help. Not anymore. I have a few sisters behind my back would gossip saying I'm deranged and insane. I don't even know how to tell you how betrayed left out and criticized I've been . No one told me about this. Recently I've been put on a brain stimulant to wake me up. This is how I found this youtube.... I sucks to be me.... tears...

Please get your doctor to refer you to go to a neuropsychologist, or go privately, to get the correct brain function testing. Also here is an article on brainline that explains that many people end up in your situation, not properly diagnosed. Good luck!

I totally understand you. I was in a very abusive relationship and my head was the target. That was over 9 years ago I was in a car accident 1 year ago and that’s when the symptoms started. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and depression. But there is more then anxiety I feel very fatigue dizzy constant headaches. Worst of all I don’t feel present like I’m in a daze. I feel like I’m going crazy. I’m on my 8th session on neurofeedback still don’t see any results. I pray this helps.

There was a large tumor in the right parietal portion which required surgery and 35 whole-brain radiation treatments leaving me as a vega-static state. There wasn't any feedback at the time. My experience having frontal damage in the was not diagnosed. I was in my own as far as therapy. Iike trying to fix a screen door. that was it. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING STEPS TO HELP OTHERS

I have just found this site which is so informative. I was left with seizures after a TBI through Domestic violence in 2004. Have you found help?

I found this site very informative after TBI caused in 2004 after multiple blows to the head during a relationship where I suffered Domestic violence. I was left with monthly seizures which have now turned into drop seizures for the last 6 years. I stopped medication 10yrs ago because they were not helping & had side effects. I have between 1-3 seizures around the same time most months, so I would have around 20 - 23 per year. About 3 weeks ago I started a low-carb diet cutting out alcohol, sugar & carbs, and had 1 drop seizure last month. I don't want to start on Keppra like the Drs have tried to get me back on for years now so I am desperately searching for something alternative.

Thank you for the information. I will look into neurofeedback in Vermont and see if insurance covers it. I'm wondering if the TBI centers up Burrlington way would be a good place to start?
