We are looking at the 23 or 25. Probably buying used so a lot will depend on what is available. We would like a fresh water boat. If we bought a salt water one we would probably be looking at higher hour boats with the thought of replacing the 200 with a new 250. An advantage you point out is actually a disadvantage in my opinion. Having the dinette on the opposite side allows for more seating under way

Your general technical knowledge is obvious as well as the attention to detail, but when you said you were a submariner, that explained things. Always enjoy your technical videos like this. My biggest question has always been, where is the 2 feet between the boats? In the v-birth? in the cabin? out back? And also, v-birth size is always important.
We filmed a walk-through video of the RT25-OB and I called out where I think the 2 feet disappeared from in it. LaZina should have that video published within the next few weeks. Useful information. I will keep it in a marina. I am in the market for a used 25 or 27. The biggest negative of the 25 is that electric alcohol stove. For me that is enough of an issue that I have worked out what it would take to upgrade to a propane stove on a 25. I intend to trailer the boat at the ends of the season (I am in Maine). The easier trailerability of the 25 makes it more attractive than the 27, but that really isn't a huge deal since I only have to tow the boat about 5 miles each way. I will keep the boat in a marina slip during the season. If the 25 came with a propane stove I would go with one. I am leaning toward a 27 just for the propane stove. I do have one question. That is can you comment on how the 25 and 27 compare when it shops up a bit. Most of my running will be in sheltered waters, but the location of my home marina requires a brief open ocean run to get to the sheltered waters. That stretch of water can get pretty rough when the sheltered waters are flat. So, do you think the 27 would handle the chop enough better than the 25 to make the larger boat a better choice for that reason. Thanks.
Thank you for watching and for the comments! Great question(s). The propane 2 burner stove and oven is awesome. We cook on the boat just as we do at home. LaZina was very adament about the RT27-OB with that propane stove/oven. I initially wanted the smaller boat (RT23 at the time). She stood her ground and I caved. Lol. I’m glad I did. Comparing the RT25 to the RT27-OB in the context of performance in chop… The RT27-OB and RT25 are similar in power trains (250 HP vs 300HP). But the RT27-OB is a heavier boat with larger tank sizes to carry more water and fuel. That additional weight helps in the chop. Both boats have an 8.5’ beam, so regardless, they’re both going to rock and roll a bit. They are very seaworthy intercoastal cruisers. Depending on the direction of the waves, I’ve been able to stay on plane in 3 foot chop. I have one video with us in 2’ chop, we are cruising on-plane, doing about 20 knots. All of three of them are capable of SE Alaska, Sitka, Glacier Bay, Juneau... There has been many RT-23's that have made that trip. The key thing to consider is distance between fuel stops and weather forecasting.
This is my largest gripe with the layout of the 27. I would like to have the galley behind the helm so the dinnet can sit people across from each other whilen under way. I guess I will have to go the 31 or 43!
This is why they offer different floor plans. We prefer the floor plan on the RT27-OB and RT29 with the dinette behind the helm. Nuka wouldn't be able to co-captain otherwise. :)

Only compromise I personally feel we made was not having a full dinette while underway.
