Very nice review bud and after playing the DLC for a few hours I have to say.....it is amazing! I live in Sweden and it feels just like home. Also I saw my face in the game! :p

You say it ma be a bit pricey to some people but it's only £13 which is half the price of one of Dovetail's DLC and around 20 times as much effort's went into this Scandinavian DLC. I think this is a great price and you will get your money's worth.

thefunkyduck22 £13?? That is cheap. I thought £20 and was going to be, as you, a bit of a TS2015 moment. I've paid more for a TS2015 and received a 1 train, which essentially is a new model but same buttons essentially do the same thing, and some track to drive down. But this covers hundreds of miles, 3 countries (with correct singe) as well as extra bits such as new cargo. I think £13 is pretty cheap given everything shown in this video

The only things I am missing in ETS 2 now are the abilities of being able to buy a can of Red Bull at a fuel station to prolong the time you can stay awake and instead of a main menu being able to just get in the back of the cab and have the menu there. (Add immersion)
No doubt heavily biased. Not worth going through all these ads just to watch what is basically another advert.
Just finished watching it and can confirm that this is pretty much an advert for the DLC: Not one downside mentioned and totally biased. However, what can you expect. I'm not saying I don't like the DLC, I think it looks fantastic. Though I am beginning to dislike SCSs support for Paul and his attitude too. Full time was obviously a mistake.

I kind of agree with you on this. I wouldn't consider it as a review more of a overview or what to expect from the DLC. Not hating will still buy it and I love the game just not a big fan of the video very litle excitement, if I wanted to only hear what's coming I would look at the post and make my computer read it out loud to me because that's how this video felt anyways.
I somewhat disagree, but I see your point. Paul supports SCS and SCS supports Paul. Why would he need to be critical or negative about his review? Sure it sounds like he's reading a script and he probably is. I'd have to imagine he wrote it himself and that why it comes off like that. It's not spontaneous commentary. It's a brief overall review of the update and DLC.
I remember the last time Paul did a review (Farming Sim iirc) it sounded like an advert. When Paul responded to the criticism I believed him. I honestly believe if something was wrong with either thing featured in the video he'd have told us. Sure, there's probably a few bugs here and there but Paul isn't a bug/glitch hunter. He probably didn't encounter any. I don't think he's biased. I think he's a big fan of the game. That's all.
I have a character in my game like most ETS2 drivers, but you now ARE a character. How cool is that :) I look very much foward to this DLC because I live close to Bergen and have been driving the twisty steep roads of the west many times. I hope I find the Corkscrew tunnel in the game. Thanks for the review.

Not really a review, more like a solid and informative showcase. I'll buy it! I think its worth the money. The whole thing about the new rain effects from 1:30 to 2:41 made me go "yep that's cool" at first, but after a couple of moments I was like "..... wo.. wait.. hang on a minute. Actually the rain still sounds the same and that one rumbling thunder is really familiar to my ears." Atleast for ME it felt like nothing changed in terms of bad weather conditions.
***** I think they added the thunder echoing in the clouds. Before, the thunder sounds were simple, but now they sound a bit more realistic and atmospheric. They surely aren't great, but hey, atleast they tried!
L Blueful Plus, in the end of the day it doesn't really matter. I can see the effort SCS put into 1.17 and this expansion for the last 6 month.
4:18 that was amazing, norway is the most detailed location on the game even after italy DLC, i wish they made more parts of it.

Squirrel, when you take the train or ferry you now have a sound of a train or ferry that plays when you select the destination :p
The Scandinavian DLC is awesome especially Bergen-Stavanger and Bergen-Oslo route, Did any one notice the LED tail lamp of Aerodynamic Trailer, The flairs are awesome, the graphics are way much better. it worth the money they charge.
It costs just over 12 euros here in Poland as a pre-order in a local store. Good price for a fantastic expansion.
6:10 mine too! On the another DLC theres also auto pass tolls but you still has to stop and wait for the useless gate to be opened

I played one of the first scs games, it was 18 Wheels of Steel Across America (2002 from SCS Software) an the "new" rainsound was exactly the same like that. I know many sound in the game which are the same sounds in 18 wheels of steel.
And many buildings are the same!
the thing i like about ets2 dlc's is that the game works perfeclty fine (for most) and then when the dlc comes out they actually add a lot of stuff that could almost be a game on its own
I hate to sound like a broken record, but I am soooo disappointed that SCS didn't include the Scania Test Track. That was one of the standout areas in ProMods
This is a very minor thing--- but the raindrop reflections (inside the raindrop) are wrong. The dark portion should be on top of the drop--- the light portion should be on the bottom. Raindrops reverse the reflection so that it is upside down. Raindrops are like tiny camera lenses. They turn the image upside down.

Honestly, it freaks me out that they haven't put the Danish city ''Padborg'' into the map. Its located at the highway border between Germany and Denmark and it has been europas biggest truck-city in many years. Still there drives hundrets of trucks around in the city.

Im gonna buy it for my birthday I think the Scandinavia DLC looks really cool
I found the weather, esp the lighting to be overdone. Noon feels more like 5 in the evening. Am also experiencing a bizarre delay in between gear shifts since the update, and other vehicles with their lights permanently on.
So I guess American Truck Simulator will eventually have I-Pass (the state of Illinois's version of Auto Pass).

What I don't get, why are there no signs on the highway and normal roads, which tell how many miles or kilometers you have to drive to a certain city? Squirrel

I live in Canada, because of the Canada dollar being so low, it's going to be 25+ dollars for me to buy this dlc. I think I'll still get it though. This looks so awesome.
BTW they never changed the sounds of rains / thunder its still the same old sounds from 1.0....dont go insane about that..its been 3 years you hear it lol

i'm wondering if there is a possible clash with MHA Pro map 1.17. I started my truck from Bergen, and there were hot air balloons moving through the city. Took a job up to Scandinavia, i encountered a fence that ran across the road, which i crashed into.
Roads merged into trees. Trees on the road. I put a video up on my page. Other than that, lovely hi-res textures, and this Scandinavia DLC does look impressive, just a few teething problems

WHOA! Scquirrel, you've got quite a few mods. How did you get them working in 1.17 update? My game saves crashed after I've updated the game. The saves don't work even when I roll back the updates. Had to start over...again :-/

Hey Paul.
I was poised to buy this but have read that the frame rate hit, not just in the new areas but throughout the whole game map once the expansion is installed, is a real mood breaker. "ETS2" runs far better on my mid range desktop than I probably have any right to expect and I really enjoy it. I'm loath now to incorporate something that might spoil that, however much I was looking forward to it.
You don't mention performance in your review here, but have you seen any indications that it might indeed be a deal breaker for anyone without your monster rig? :)

James Maloney Depends what the mod does. The video description contains my mod list and you can see some I've tested on 1.17 in there
Many mods are broken. Especially the mentioned wheel mods plus weather and texture mods. If you use ProMods you need to download a patch from their website.
I'm going to throw my hat into this controversial debate if Squirrel was "paid" to do this, or was "reading off a script".
Personally, going by his earlier videos, I would agree he was reading from a script. But with the way he's defended himself countless times in the comment section, I'm convinced SCS didn't pay him to do it. I believe he wrote the script himself. He did so in a way that would convince you to buy the DLC. This is his opinion, not SCS'.
How he got himself in the game as a picture, I say they did it as a thank you for the fanbase of this channel, and not for being all "buddy buddy".
Remember when he mentioned about the wipers, how he wished there was a 3rd setting? This proves it's his opinion and not what SCS told him to say.

What is the Volvo mod you used I can't seem to find it in the mod list.
how did you get the intermittent wipers are they a mod as I have 1.17 and Scandinavia etc. but no intermittent wipers.

I know. I saw on steam early this morning that the release date is set for the 6th in Europe and was told by a player that it should be released here on the east coast of the USA by around 6pm. I'd rather get confirmation of this by SCS however rather than a fan.

Brent Moore SCS never had a release date for it. There were many false release Dates, and even sites like Amazon were selling it with a false date. At the announcement of ATS, they also made it clear that ETS2 will still be heavily worked on.
Not cheap? This is actually cheap not gonna lie but I think this DLC is more like €30,- I feel happy to get this dlc thursday and hopefully all of you will enjoy this new DLC. :)
