      It's kind of pointless to have such a high accuracy movement equipped with a ticking second hand. If It's not capable of showing fractions of a second then it's pointless being that accurate. It really needs a sweeping second hand Of at least five beats per second

    Without temperature control, there's a limit to how consistent a crystal oscillator can be. Also, aging of components can affect accuracy over time. I wonder how this movement will fare long term.

    • @oes2546
      @oes2546 5 лет назад +1

      My run of the mill Eco-Drive e168 runs about +3s/year on wrist and +30s/year in room temperature. Which shows that, at least for ordinary quartz, the specifications are «very conservative» 😄
      With the extreme frequency of the cal0100, and the excelent calibration and temperature compensation they use on it, I'm guessing it can run within spec for a long time. But any instrument will have some drift over time.
      I wonder if this movement can be regulated like the GS 9F.

      You can buy a Chronomaster, but Citizen will only give you a 1 year warranty as opposed to the 10 year warranty for Chronomasters bought in Japan. I guess it's Citizen's small way of saying that they're disappointed in you

    I'm pretty sure my Casio G Shock Rangeman is more accurate - it updates by radio to sync with an atomic clock every night.

    • @Monochrome-watches
      @Monochrome-watches  5 лет назад +15

      Well, true and false, as in the case of the G-Shock, it isn't the watch itself and its regulator that are precise... Without a connection, it wouldn't be as accurate. Citizen, like mechanical watches, is intrinsically precise, without any external intervention.

    • @eus9
      @eus9 5 лет назад +4

      @@Monochrome-watches interesting point, and somewhat philosophical. To an extent, it's a discussion on the subject of essentialism and mereology. The same point could be made about a mechanical hand-wound or automatic watch: can we state they are not intrinsically accurate because they need winding?

    • @Monochrome-watches
      @Monochrome-watches  5 лет назад +4

      @@eus9 Indeed... Interesting and very philosophical debate. Precision is, in fact, a utopia. We can't create anything that is 100% precise. Even an atomic clock tends to go as close as possible to precision, but with a (small) margin of error. As for mechanical watches, they can't be precise, for the reason you point, and for the fact that a human is setting the time... Long story short, precision is relative. Still, what Citizen has done here is truly impressive! Thanks for your comments!

      @@eus9 Say you take the G-SHOCK and this new CITIZEN and remove the radio wave technology from the G-SHOCK and remove the Eco-Drive technology from the CITIZEN. Put batteries in both instead. Which will perform more accurately?

    +/-1 second per minute, per hour, per day?? FFS gave up on this video after the 4th time he failed to clarify. This is the 2nd video in a row of the 0100s movement that has FAILED to tell me how accurate this watch is. I thought watch enthusiasts were discerning people...what's with all these likes??

      I think (unless specified) that +/- seconds is generally assumed per day, however in this case it's per year, which is damn impressive.
