Just got a 2024 Rav 4 Woodland edition. Took it to Mammoth mountains in CA. (Eastern Sierra) Full blizzard on the way up. Kept it on TRAIL. Did not need chains. Awesome!
I addressed the ground clearance on my Woodland with a lift. Now I'm at 9.6" which gives me more confidence with getting into areas I'll be articulated and not beating things up! RAV is Recreational Activity Vehicle and the stock Woodland is exactly that. I can get to the trailheads I want to, handle snow, and find my way to backcountry campsites with ease all while getting over 40mpg (40.1 over first 6k miles)
@@braxtonfoust8207 I frankensteined mine a bit haha. Eibach Pro springs on the front and Northwoods Performance Stage 3 Rear Springs on the back. Parts, shipping, tax etc was $425. I would have gone Eibach Pro on the rear, but they're just too soft. I'll be towing with 240-260lb on the tongue + some gear in the trunk. Avoiding the sag was important to me and Eibachs just can't take that weight well. Handling has improved, body roll is less, but the rear is a little stiffer. Not enough to be a problem, but you will feel it.
I really love your POV off-road videos. It shows exactly what owners will experience from the driver's seat when taking their vehicles off the beaten path.
Actually it does have a TRD tuned suspension. Along with the Falken Wild Peak tires gives this some really nice capabilities. No it's not a 4Runner but a 4Runner doesn't get 40+mpg on rough roads. The Woodland does. It looks good too. Its a fantastic daily driver that can get you places. This is a very nice creation by Toyota. Very impressive in my driving it.
many people are delusional in regards to what their needs are. Can't even count how many people say they need AWD because they are gonna go "off road" and they are just doing dirt paths. Or if they need it for snow, yet they are not on snow rated tires.
The woodland is a major rip off. Get the XLE for the same price with convenience package & weather package plus moonroof. Later down the road add a better lift kit & tires a boom, you got yourself a premium Woodland. Lol😂
Exactly, all you really get with the Woodland Edition is all weather floor mats with trees on them, a raised roof rack, and some TRD wheels with base Falken Wild Peak tires. I would go with the Hybrid XLE Premium personally.
@@miller1 xle premium for leather seats or regular xle for cloth seats, best bang for your buck so long it's a hybrid will be worth it in the long run!
What you just mention is about 3-4K more XLE over the woodland lol. With that saving I put a lift, bigger tires as well as Katakin leather with heated/ventilated seats🤷🏻♂️
@@ws6transam like 500 dollars ish more. Not 3-4K my guy. The Woodland is basic. Doesn’t even come with a moonroof. I said for almost the same price as the Woodland you can get more bang for you bucks. Lol, with both convenience/weather packages (2,190) that bring the price up to 36,775 versus the Woodland comes out to 36,225 with all it has to offer. Yes, you can opt out of the convenience/weather package and save 2k ish dollars bring the basic XLE to 34k ish. But that heated steering wheel and seats is clutch. Snowboarding season so much better. Here’s the deal, so I did get the XLE with the packages. I hate the convenience package. The power lift gate/trunk is slow as hell. I should’ve added the damn fog lights. I messed up on that part. Because I was thinking of doing a conversion to the TRD gas front end. And I thought to myself I’m going to swap out the fog lights anyway, WRONG! Get the fog lights anyway. Because it won’t come prewired for fog lights. Long, story short. All is not loss… I got my XLE HYBRID for 32,689 (Brand New) with convenience/weather packages, minus the fog lights. The only problem is the XLE Premium didn’t have my Luna Rock color. I’m happy… MY Rav4 rocks 314 method 17 and Falken WildPeak AT 245/65 R not lifted. And rock a Thule XT XL. All for about 2,500k. That setup rides like a dream. Tested the wheels off-roading, amazing! Snow, King! Speed to 120, easy! Handles around twist and turns confidently, cheers!
Welcome to California! Looking forward to seeing your reviews out here. Lots of different road options to really feel out each car in its intended environment. You're gonna love it!
Charlie, This was an excellent test on terrain highly suitable for this vehicle. In regard to the Woodland decal on the tailgate, why don't you cut one of the highly textured trees from the cargo mat and glue it on the tailgate? 🤣All in all, Toyota has really progressed with the rear traction on their AWD Hybrid powertrains. A more powerful rear axle motor is the key to making it even better. Finally, those desiring a full-size spare will be happy to learn the RAV4 Hybrid provides sufficient space in the spare well. 🤩
I do not understand why Toyota did not just put the hybrid powertrain in the RAV4 TRD Off Road and now you have the Sof-Tex seats, leather wheel, ventilated seats, sunroof, etc., not to mention an extra 1/2 inch of ground clearance, all the stuff that this Woodland edition does not have. Perhaps it is because the RAV4 TRD Offroad has the torque vectoring AWD system, and maybe that conflicts with the hybrid powertrain,. I don't know, but I'd sure think they'll phase out the TRD Offroad if they are going to stick with this.
Wow, as soon as you said it doesn't come with heated seats and that it doesn't even get the option for a sunroof I lost all interest. Subaru will give you all of that for under $30k. Toyota is being just plain greedy all of a sudden. Great to see weather other than overcast in your videos! Looking forward to this new chapter in your channel!
Sure except that Subaru doesn't have the reliability that Toyota has, and their hybrid motor sucks and doesn't get neatly the same mpg. Toyota has been in the hybrid game longer than anyone and have perfected it.
I hate sunroofs. They all leak eventually. Somehow we all survived without heated seats 20 years ago, im definitely liking what I’m seeing. Here’s hoping they make a Prime woodland edition.
around the end of July I purchased a 2024 subaru outback onyx XT ( high spec model basically very similar to wilderness w/o larger tires and suspension) the overall build quality was sub par and after regular daily driving and 2 very light trails developed some rattles and even things like the door panels just felt loose. I traded for a 2023 Rav4 hybrid woodland and the difference is staggering in build quality and hardiness. Cheers
I think it's a 6 speaker JBL system. Just not 11 Speaker they try to jack you for an additional 2,500 plus or whatever they think they can take you for.
i have rav4 prime . its genius car , can go anywhere, an also eletric offroad , that is wery nice , i have been going similar trails this here in iceland , no problems , but i did change the stock tyres and rims to 255/65/17 , its perfect tyre for the car, i have seen also the subaru have totally dissapear here in iceland , , legacy was wery popular here 20 years ago , but today omg almost cannot see subaru , but everything here is full of landcrusers 150 :D and rav4
I've been researching these today, and from what I've read, the 2024 does have things like skid plates. There are reasons why it gets less mpg than the other Rav4 Hybrids. Most likely because of the difference in weight and suspension. All of them have the Trail Mode, but they don't have the extra little features that help in situations that are more off road than normal.
The entire underside is covered by hard plastic panels. A couple of vendors make steel and aluminum skid plates for certain subareas. Hybrid underbelly is a bit different that the non-hybrid.
I am waiting to see what the new 2025 RAV4 Hybrid WoodLand has to offer. I think I am seriously going after this vehicle in the next year! Thanks for the video!
Wow it goes on a basically smooth dirt road and up a little bit of a hill. My car would do that. with all the plastic trim on the front bumper, rear bumper and along the bottom under the doors it would get wrecked first trip out for real off roading. So it has different springs, shocks and dampers. It is a pretend off-roader. Nothing like a Jeep Rubicon with locking front and rear diffs, sway bar disconnect for articulation.
Love this channel, but Toyota. Really? $34K with plastic steering wheel, cloth seats (not even at least put leather-trim to spice it up a little bit, just straight out of Corolla LE cloth), no heated seats, no auto dimming rear-view mirror ,shared screen with Corolla and etc. Very disappointed for a special edition especially Rav4. Why make it look so nice, but lack everything. Basically it's just LE Hybrid w/ convenience pkg with stickers and all weather floor mats, but more expensive. I really would love Toyota to prioritize heated seats (at least) and auto dimming mirrors on lower trims (i.e. anything above LE) would be really nice. Other brands already give heated seats on every trim except the base trim and I think that's how it's supposed to be for all brands.
@@BlueDroneBlues he's in SoCal, so, it's easier and cheaper for him to video roads in Socal than heading up to Lake Tahoe, and then renting a place to stay.
I know! Reading all these comments makes me think how most people have no idea what off roaders (in this case a mild off roader) are about. The woodland has everything I need and nothing that I don't need. More features mean more things that can go wrong. Give me the basics and make it bulletproof. Back it up with warranty. The only thing I did not like was the pricing but I was OK paying 1.5K premium above XLE. Another stupid reason for me was how rare this model is. The first salesman I went to did not even know this trim existed.
Honestly, I drive my 2013 Toyota Prius V on far more rutted and uneven roads than this on regular basis when driving to remote dispersed camp sites far down Forest Roads in places like Inyo National Forest, or other national forests all over New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. I drive to really remote wilderness locations for environmental documentaries. I actually drove an older 2007 Prius all the way across Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument on rough dirt roads the entire way. (I did not get stuck anywhere.) So no, I am not impressed with the difficulty level of the road you were on here. There are many reasons why people would drive on a rougher roads than this to get to specific sites in rural public wilderness areas. I have 100% confidence that I could have easily driven down this whole road in a 2WD 2007 Prius or a 2013 Prius V. I came to this video because I am considering upgrading to a RAV4 because it should be able to handle such roads more easily while still getting great gas milage, and I hoped to see a demonstration of RAV4 off-road abilities. You should find a more challenging road if you want to actually demonstrate it's capabilities. Try taking it to the sandy Jawbone Canyon OHV area not too far from where you live if you want a bigger off-road challenge/test.
