Hey @NigelHatcherN, I think is more about the caudal fin, but yes, I agree with you that other Xiphophorus has a kinda extension, even the females, if I'm not wrong are called lyre tail. I want to make shoortly a video about Mollys where is most commont to see these kind tail.
The name comes from the shape of the anal fin. The genus Xiphophorus has has other species that have the same anal fin but no extension to the tail.
