Champ School is golden, unparalleled info for anyone on two wheels. I bought the Champ U course around Christmas time and, as far as virtual instruction, it doesn't get ANY better. Keep it up Nick
Maintenance throttle is so underrated, the difference between a loaded and an unloaded tire simply makes tons of difference, and MT makes a big difference. Brilliant!
Love these vids, but I would add that figure 8s would be better. Ride ovals only applies skills for one type of turn. Left or right. Flip the oval to work both directions, or do figure 8s so you work both directions. Just an idea.
I’m sorry but the lessons I’ve learned from figure 8s are priceless. I do make big drills changing direction and including figure 8s for more fun. I completed champ u a while ago and I always revisit this, but this advice is more towards a novice rider.
This video recommends figure 8's. The main demo is oval, but he says oval "or" figure 8 as opposed to simple circles. Did you hear the part about being aware that the other side of the tire may be cold when you change direction on figure 8? My takeaway, on the benefit of oval is getting up some speed, trail braking, etc. It's not "either - or" he says both.
@ prolly I misunderstood. I do the short and long 8 figures. Also I arrange mini circuits with aggressive change of direction to practice agility. This has me covered for all the techniques.
Always dropping mad knowledge, thanks! I’ve been doing figure eights for a while now but I’m struggling with when to shift my feet for change of direction. Sometimes it feels comfortable but other times it feels like I’m twisting my knee. Any advice?
You barely touched on it but the next most important thing that everyone ignores with car park drills... You're not working the tyre enough to get it up to any usable temperature and thus usable grip. The oval helps but it's not the same.
Hmmm my problem with this drill is that it is completely not appropriate for low-speed riding and agility. It is much more important to practice the ABC technique, vision and proper body position for low speed riding. Those turns are slow and huge and there is plenty grip and lean angle available on that bike.
Taking away lean angle then acceleration does that mean making sure the bike is pointed striaght up? But he is never fully vertical upright tho when he is doing it.
Tight circles help with learning evasive movements such as slamming on the brakes and evading traffic difficulties. Ovals are a cool technique too, but everything has its use and is fun to practice.
I’m surprised! It’s a pretty narrow minded view. Some guy fell, so stop doing this. Wtf? You should obviously do circle, oval, and figure eight drills. They train different things.

I’ve been to Champ school 3 times…it’s the best money I’ve ever spent motorcycling!!!
Weight transfer to the rear comes from acceleration not speed.
speed is a byproduct of acceleration.
@@vijayam1no, speed. Is the integral of acceleration...

Thanks guys.
This just increased my understanding and prevented a bike drop.😮
Excellent tips. I'm impressed by how much can be learned by breaking down simple circle/oval exercises
good points here
Wish I could afford a lot more schooling. I am a huge fan of the teaching style.
Yo Nick! Good to see you in action.

❤❤I love your teaching❤❤❤❤
Cheers team !
I feel targeted... just got home from doing circles in a parking lot.

More grip only means more speed/lean angle. Where is the difference, apart from doing it faster?

Ok, time to practice. Bye
Why he rides in half hang-off position even riding straight ahead?

Good to know I was doing it right. I always hated practicing circles because I got dizzy after 2 loops.
For sure, on pavement this is a better drill. But not for dirt bikes or off-road riding.

There's so much bad audio boys get your stuff together this is pathetic
Audio was fine.
