Every person I met who grew up in the area has a story of someone they knew who died in the mountains. Some of the stories are pretty gnarly and gruesome. It kinda makes you think when you are out there doing extreme stuff. The Alps are open for anyone to get themselves in trouble and it is all on you for getting yourself into the situation you find yourself in. Avalanches, crevasses, falling off a cliff, etc, etc. It is an awesome place for sure.
Hello Jacob and colleagues Thank you for the wonderful film. I congratulate you on the super nice tours and ski runs. I wish you nice tours. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig from Switzerland
Man I spent the winters of 97,98,99 in Cham snowboarding, best days of my life.la cantina comes to mind, off piste heaven.back side of le tour, grande monte. At the top of Flagere you would go down a bit and bear right of some rocks with skull and crossbones keep out everywhere and you would end up in a huge fresh powder valley which I think went down to Brevent? Anyway this is where dreams are made and lived out.thanks so much for your video that brought back so many great memories 👍🇬🇧🌈
Det var helt magisk. Jeg har vært mange ganger til Chamonix, følte som jeg var tilbake igjen. Tok en linje på Mt Dolent i nærheten en gang, og en på Les Droits. Tusen takk for en utrolig bra video.
The begining of the video is my favorite line in the grand montet! LOL nice to see pros doing the same mistake than I did once (going too much to the left (or to the right if you want to take the nice couloir lol))
That is one incredible video, really nice of you to do that kind of vlogs :) Lots of those images are gonna finish on my work computer as wallpapers lmao ;) Chamonix sure is one of most beautiful places in the world, but now I can't really wait for the next winter :(
Beautiful stuff. Sucks about the lost focus at 12:07, I wanted to see that. Hard to sometimes tell if it has focus when it's bright and such a small screen.
Yep, that was a bummer, sometimes the Mavic loses focus in dark North facing slopes. That day was especially cold too, so it was tricky for the filmer to even get the shot to begin with standing at 3500m without gloves in the blinding sun!
Very nice! One thing that would make it exceedingly more pleasurable would be a drone with enough power to drop a line and pull your ass like a T-Bar up the always miserable hike to the top. There are some who it's that's part of the experience to be enjoyed. However, in my experience hiking up a steep, waist deep alpine incline just plain sucks!
Amazing footage! What kind of Gopro were you using and was it helmet or chest mounted? Looking to get one for steep lines myself and want it to be stable looking. Like everyone else said the drone footage was absolutely stunning! Skiing likewise :) Great work and props for the hike up there. Can't imagine how much work that was to get up there in deep snowpack. Oh, do you ever set off charges to prevent avalanches chasing you on way down? Always wondered why some get caught in them when they could have set off charges prior to skiing down. Awesome video!
Thanks! Gopro 7, helmet mounted. It has a great stabilizer to help shaky video. It won't work if it's too cold though! And no, we are not authorized to bring charges out into the backcountry, only qualified ski patrol would do that. We make sure to follow the weather and what happens to the snowpack to keep us regularly updated about possible dangers etc. Thanks again!
Hey really fucking enjoyed this video!! Would be happy if there would not be as many cuts during line/tricks. The tricks themselves are awesome enough.
Thanks Brian! Actually, most of the aerials are shot with the DJI Mavic Pro, some are with a Phantom 4 Pro. The Inspire would be fun to work with but way too much weight to carry into these situations in a practical manner.
Are there any channels having remotely close content like this but for snowboarding? Jacob you set the bar so high its hard to watch anything snow related after your vlogs...
I almost start crying when i saw those drone footage.. OMG. Thanks for that episode Jacob.
thanks Borja, glad you liked it!
This is the type of vlogs youtube should be about, it was incredible for real.
Snowy mountains above the cloudy sky. So damn unreal. Absolutly magnificient. I need to see that with my eyes. Very nice video ;)

Full personal responsibility and no bs. It is a hard place to leave thats for sure.
Fan vad jag saknar Chamonix, fan vad jag saknar att leva. Tack för underbara bilder från min ungdoms bästa dagar.

haha. i am one of those that actually enjoy the hike :) a drone that could get me up a mountain sounds very scifi... but lets hope for the future!
@@JacobWesterSki Your knees must be in great shape to handle not only the skiing but the hike up!
I wanna re-locate to CHam next winter after this

Nice 😮

What drone are you using? Looks cool.
DJI Mavic and Phantom 4 pro!
Amazing fotage
4:50 the go pro make that look nuts but no thought still fucking mental
it was pretty sketchy to be honest! forgot to bring an ice axe for the downclimbing + lots of loose rock. gopro made it justice;)
Hey really fucking enjoyed this video!!
Would be happy if there would not be as many cuts during line/tricks. The tricks themselves are awesome enough.
Süper
Go hard or go home 👍🏼👍🏼
who is the guy in 6:41, that is the logo of my lokal football team!
FETT!!!
Kung video och schyssta vyer!
Vilket drönare använde ni? Sjuk kvalité
DJI Mavic Pro och DJI Phantom 4 Pro!
eh whaat, so sick
Ni har fått till en episk Red bull produktion på en promille av deras budget. Mössan av
Tack, det värmer!
fan va grymt
How is it that you're not having avalanches over those slopes???
Waiting for the right conditions and keeping a close eye on every storm goes a long way!
I see.. well, take care and keep up the great videos!
Storslaget!
Damn Jacob! That last line was sick! You guys shooting with the Inspire 1 for the aerials?
Thanks Brian! Actually, most of the aerials are shot with the DJI Mavic Pro, some are with a Phantom 4 Pro. The Inspire would be fun to work with but way too much weight to carry into these situations in a practical manner.
Nice. That's what I had figured but wasn't sure. The size of the Mavic Pro seems clutch here for those long treks.
Grymma vyer (taskig musik).
this is fking epic
Shit vad bra! Grymt!

Hey Jacob, Which Drone are you using for this ?
DJI Phantom 4pro and Mavic pro

I recommend muting the soundtrack around 3:15
