  • At a level 7 difficulty, Poison Spider is not only one of the most popular trails in Moab, but also one of the more challenging ones..
    This trail has a unique blend of deep sand, massive slabs of sandstone rock formations, and rock walls. To make matters worse, on most rock walls there is a fine layer of silt that turns them makes finding traction a luxury. Since it's one of the most popular trails, it also is often pack with other jeeps and dirt bikers like me..
    This is another trail that really challenged me in Moab, but it's amazing views and occasional flowy section made it ridiculously fun!
    Wish me luck in navigating the crowds and jagged rock formations..
    Enjoy the videos!!

    One of my favorite trails. it is great on a bike because you can pass all the slow jeeps doing their thing. The first time out i was quite intimidated by the hard obsticals but i know the line now and trust my traction and momentum. I love the views up top on that trail.

    How"s the knee ? Is there a knee brace you wish you would of been wearing ? I"m a new rider, a little old (68) . GREAT VIDEO"S !!!

      Glad you like the videos!!
      I think for recovery, a knee brace would have been really nice, but when it comes to the actual ride, I prefer to ride without any kind of brace or knee guard at all. I always found that elbow and knee pads just restricted my movement and made life harder. Though, once I got back home and back to editing, a recovery brace for my knee would have helped a lot!

    Okay - my sons and I have been watching your videos for a few days now. Outstanding production quality-love the variety of camera angles, use of the drone, and the audio is excellent. But we are divided: some of us think you’re trolling your audience, pretending to be a worse rider than you really are, and some of us think you’re shooting straight. Personally, I can’t decide. You have moments of brilliance where you demonstrate perfect clutch control, body positioning, and you easily lift your front wheel over obstacles and flow up technical sections smoothly. But then you’ll stall out because you go into a minor feature with impossibly low speed. It’s almost like you’re sabotaging yourself by overthinking, looking immediately in front of you rather than farther ahead. I’m honestly not trying to troll you or disrespect you. I love your passion and your production quality is absolutely top notch. Crack that throttle open. Carry speed. Look ahead (not down) and let it rip. Peace, brother.

      😂😂😂 you’re killing me man
      Okay so here’s the honest to god truth- I’ve been riding for 10 years (started out as an MX rider) but it’s my very first riding trip to Moab and I should have made a lot of changes to my bike. Most specifically my gearing. A video series I shot last year I was ADV riding and I changed my gearing for more long dirt roads. I was lazy before going on this trip and I should have regeared my bike. If I had I wouldn’t have stalled out so much. I like to think I’m a pretty decent rider, but my laziness to make that change on my bike really hurt in the long run. I’m making those changes to my bike before new videos are coming out after the Moab series🤙🏼
      Stoked you and your family enjoy the videos! A lot of work goes into the filming and editing 🤟🏼

      I think what you're seeing is a pretty good rider trying to figure out how to ride a completely different terrain than he is used to. I don't know if you have ever ridden in Moab before but it's completely different than most other places.

    Really enjoy your vids. Great commentary . Have you done any mods to the 501? I have a 390 Adventure with extensive mods. Too old to try any of the stuff you're doing, especially on a 390. Kinda wish I would of went more with a true "dual sport". Am planning a MABDR trip. Most likely be solo. Not too many riders here in SW Florida. Keep the vids coming.

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks!! My 501 has an FMF 4.1 Pipe, Heavy duty rims by Dubya, seat concepts seat, Baja Designs XL80 headlight, graphics, and loads of equipment for charging camera batteries and stuff off the bike.
      That 390 is a sweet bike!! Its gonna be perfect for the MABDR route too. As far as dual sports go, the 501 is by far one of the sportiest ones on the market. It is still on the heavy side, but it is very dirt oriented and I ride it absolutely everywhere. I've done ADV riding with it too, but the only comment I have is that your 390 is likely a lot comfier on long stretches.
      Ride safe on your MABDR! There may be some FB groups where you could find some riders to join the journey!

    I would seriously look at increasing the fly wheel weight would increase the inertia of the engine and give you a better ride . No detriment to the engine just a plus cheer for the vid. Wish we had such awesome trails in New Zealander America is such a diverse environment so big cheers

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  3 месяца назад

      Thats not a bad idea. It would definitely help reduce how often I was stalling.. For now I am gonna re-gear the bike and see if it helps, but if I still have the same problems, then a flywheel could be a smart move!
      America just has such a wide wide variety of areas to explore! Its really an amazing place to be a dirt bike rider. Someday I hope to visit NZ though!

      I camped out for two weeks along the river just north of Moab! There are loads and loads of places to either camp or grab a hotel. Also, Pro Tip- if you are camping one of the bike shops in town sells showers for 8 bucks. Theres also a spring next to the highway on the north end of town if you need to fill up water jugs!
