Thanks!! I am glad you liked it! Carter absolutely shredded that trail on his 300! Its a bit harder for me to manhandle my 501 on it hahahaha. I'm excited to release the next episode as soon as I can!
I recognize this trail. I tried it about 3 weeks back. I turned around at the second log as I was alone and forgot my saw. I wouldn’t have wanted to cut it anyways because the sliding was my concern as well. I ended up one a nearby trail that was miserable (at the time) with sooo many downed trees. My buddy snapped the clutch master cylinder off the bars trying to get through. Good times.
Dude lemme just say, its so good you turned around cuz that was right about when we were there and the amount of tree fall way further into the trail was INSANE.. Sorry to hear about your buddy's clutch too.. Thats a rough way to end a day.
@@madjack_757 I’m currently watching the video so I’m wondering if you ended up on the trail we ended up on. The amount of logs we had to drag our bikes over was intense. The clutch definitely made getting home interesting. Bailing wire and pliers is a life saver on the trail.
I might have. We take this trail for about 13-14 miles and then eventually it became dark and I pulled out my GPS. Then my GPS put us on the "popular" route outta the mountains instead of the quickest. It sent us way deeper into the mountain where things really began to get bad and then we had to spend the night out there. There more episodes comin! Dude I have no doubt you guys had your work cut out for yall. The deadfall this year has been nuts! I'm stoked y'all were able to rig something up to use to get outta there.
@@madjack_757 I look forward to the rest of your videos on this series! I’ll know for sure when I see them. The deadfall made it so much harder than it already was and needed to be. Glad to see you guys made it out alive as well! I can’t wait to see the videos of y’all fight thru it.
It honestly makes me feel better that you are spooked by the single track on the side of of a cliff. I see guys playing that off like it’s nothing all the time and I’m like, you have to be totally puckered to the max or there is something wrong with you!
Haha love it when you encounter a tree you instantly pulled out the saw :D The chain looked dull at first 😋 This style of video is a bit like Long Way Round with good action feel but no showreel Pol Tarres skill stuff. Everything is doable yourself 😎

Thanks! I have to admit, I think it may have been too tough for me too. The first sections of the trail, I could keep my energy up. By the end of it, it truly beat me to my core. Not to mention caused us to spend the night out on the trail. Glad I made it out to tell the story!
Its funny you ask cuz actually yeah I pulled a tick outta my leg. Tho, it wasnt from the ride. I had camped somewhat near the area the day or two before. It was a fresh one and hadnt been on me too long, but it was there. They're mean little fu**ers hahahahaha
Thanks! I have two mini 3 pros and a mavic 3 classic. I rotate between which one I use for different projects 🤟🏼 Hey what’s the riding like in Australia by the way??
That log that you broke your mirror in the process of dragging your bike under looked like it could have easily been cut , and btw the mirror stem remaining looks dodgy, if your were to get crossed up in a incident, Anyway the trails looks class and keep up the good footage 👍
I think it would have been too risky to make that cut on the log, but I agree I should have taken the mirror stem off sooner. I eventually take it off for that reason though. Stoked you like the footage man!
@@madjack_757 you never go to that area in the video without plenty of saw gas. And the saw in an easy to get out spot. I cleared over a 100 trees in that area in late August. They always fall there.
Same thing happen to me and a buddy in fernan Idaho we missed the turn and had to spend the night in the woods abandon our bikes and walk out . Then the following weekend we had a bunch of friends chain saw us out to get back to our truck it was a survival situation like you guys .
It’s all good! The downed trees are very normal this far north. Winters are rough and summer storms can be rough. Trees fall for a variety of reasons. There’s always new growth springing up though. It’s funny, I’ve been camping during a summer storm before and heard trees coming down in the forest nearby. It’s wild.
I’m 71 years old now. I don’t ride tracks like this alone anymore. In fact, I’ve never been in this situation before. I just traded my KTM 690 Enduro R for a BMW R Nine T Scrambler.
We didn’t have bikes that would get us back in tracks like that when I was in my prime. I had a Maico 400 MC in 1977, but I mostly used it for MX racing.
Thats a sweet bike!! Honestly, consider yourself lucky you never got stuck out in the mountains.. It's brutal I used to work on old VMX bikes. I had a 1974 yz125, 1979 YZ250, and a 1989 CR250. Those maicos are so awesome too.
I agree with the darwin comment hahaha!! This trail system beat me to my core and I need a break from single track. I think the next videos after this series might be more local trails or scenic spots.
Dude you should have taken the mirror skewer off 😜just fkn with ya. But that place looks awesome. Slow going but nice trail. If you need a mirror, look into the RAM mount type. Love my mirrors, so flexible plus you can get a phone mount for it
Dude I took sooo much flak for that hahahahaha! Its a killer place to ride, just a brutal challenge. I just got a set of double take mirrors that fold and I love them
You got the next installment ready yet? 😀🤣 Great production quality and videography man. Enjoyed this one. I must admit, as someone thats from the east coast thats ridden thousands of miles of idaho trail, I dont think I'll ever get used to that exposure. I am hoping to have them done soon, but I have work with some clients here soon and I know if I don't get all the episodes done before then, then it will delay progress. You and me both man.. I have ridden some high exposure stuff, but I need a break from it for a bit. After this ride, I didn't touch my bike for like two weeks. It was just such a gnarly experience. Especially after we had ran out of water... I'll keep an eye out or that email man!
I know the feeling. My beta left me 20 miles away from the truck this weekend. Never been so frustrated in my life. Still trying to figure out what happened.
Its a really defeating moment when it happens.. It happens to the best of us though. I think if you ride for long enough, it happens to everyone eventually.
@@madjack_757 I've honestly never carried one regularly, until i moved to WA, water is everywhere, and the filtration is way less weight that water itself
smart!! yeah I have always packed in my water which ends up being such a massive amount of weight. I think I could cut my water supply in half and just supplement with the life straw.
I hit snow near Bridger Peak in Wyoming on 3 July and worked myself into a nearly similar situation. But I was alone and turned back before it got crazy.
Dude its crazy you mention Wyo!! I am out in Fort Bridger right now en route to some client work out east hahahaha. Good on you for knowing when to turn back. Its a way harder call to make than people realize, but sometimes its the right choice.
Hell of a video man! Need that enduro engineering chainsaw mount if you're going to be transporting a saw. Makes life SOO much easier. Or if you're up to more physcial work you could bring a folding bow saw. I always carry one of the AGAWA 15' ones on any trip (strap it along my fork) for the smaller trees.
Yeah I want to find a mount set up that lets me keep my headlight so the bike stays street legal. so far rear mounting the saw seems to work for this bike (for now) and I'm considering getting one of those folding ones too. Stoked you liked the video man!
@@madjack_757 Fair point, although technically the law is written that you have to HAVE a headlight.... not that it be visible. ;) (additionally it's pretty easy to remove). But yeah that bow saw has gotten me out of some spots for sure!! Ride safe brotha, and keep the great videos coming!!
Yeah. I've been in touch with a company that hopefully will set me up with a custom light and saw setup but we will see.. I am super hopeful it comes thru! Stoked you're likin the channel dude!!
It is super flat and boring. There’s nothing cool there at all. I heard Iowa is a much cooler place lol. Idaho has a very thriving population of predators such as black/brown/(some)grizzly bears, wolves, cougars, coyotes, foxes, etc.. where we were was somewhat kinda near the grizzly bear range too which is sketchy lol.
You said that at times that trail was SKETCHY, no, that whole trail was sketchy. Even in my younger days, I would have never taken a trail like that. I made a mount for my Polaris quad, and my TW200, that with the release of 1 stretch cord I could release my chainsaw. On the TW I use a Ryobi 18 volt 12 inch cain saw. I have used it around the house a lot, and it cuts just fine. The Polaris has a regular Dollmar chainsaw. I carry lots of emergency supplies in my quad, but other than a good set of tools, I need to carry every thing else in my Hydration pack on my TW. I think that I am going to invest in a kick starter for my TW. One thing that I do have installed in my 2022 Polaris 570 trail, my 2022 TW200, and my 2017 RZR900, is an AGM battery. I recently sold my 2009 Polaris 550 Quad, and it still had the original AGM battery in it. The 2009 was my snow-plow quad, and it always started. I am impressed by the rugged trails that you ride on, and I am also impressed that you had another rider with you on this adventure. I paused the video at 34 minutes to write this comment. I am sure that I will have more to add after watching the rest.
It was definitely one of the gnarlier ones I have featured on this channel. Though, after this experience, I am going to tone it back a bit and maybe do some less edgy and more scenic stuff if I can. Saws are definitely a necessity when you get way out in the woods! I've never used one of those ryobis before. Are they at least light weight and easy to pack? We were carrying as much supplies as we reasonably could given the trail we were on, but we definitely needed more when push came to shove.. A kick starter is an awesome idea for your TW too!! It's definitely one of the more rugged one's I have featured on this channel, and I am probably going to tone it back after this one. This one really beat me to my core!
Its no joke! Every early season ride is a gamble. Unfortunately for us, we drew the short straw and the temps were in the 20s for us that night. We had nothing but our riding clothes and a fire to keep warm.
in 1844 John C Fremont expedition crossed the sierra mountains. On Foot. In January. In 1854 he crossed the Wasatch mtns in Feb? between Panguitch and Parowan Ut, roughly... lost some men. in 1999 I got stuck on the Abajo mtns above Montecello-Blanding Ut in the snow, then the battery went dead. So I walked 26 miles to Blanding. Stayed in a ranger station near Duck Lake and Kigalia and a logging trailer, walked past The Bears Ears.... in 1991 I was riding my Moto Morini 501 Camel from Hans Flat to Robbers Roost when a timing belt broke. In August. Walked 14 miles in 100F heat. That one worried me but there was a cloud and a gallon of water. I figured 6 hours.... imagine my surprise when I walked into camp 3hrs and 45 minutes late!. that was cool. And I have the topo maps and google earth to confirm the distance. I was 41 then, a pup.
2nd log question? Would it, could it have been an option to use a smaller log as a pry bar either near the top or bottom of that log to see if a little prying action might loosen the whole thing (while keeping yourself at a distance of course) and let that big log take off and find the river? Yes, no? Even worth a try?
Time to get some double take mirriors! That wouldn't have happened! The beginning part was good practice for some log hopping! If people in Australia can do them with dr650's we can too! Then again maybe they're built different 😆🤟
I just got a set!! They're so awesome. I saw that video of the guy log jumping his 650! Its insane.. Some people just know their bikes like its an extension of their body..

That was Awesome
Another awesome Madjack video! And yet another trail you've ridden that there's no way I'd take my Beta on, so props to you and Carter. That is a hiking trail at best for me, but I'm no youngster like you😄 Great job, looking forward to the next episode!
Thanks!! I am glad you liked it! Carter absolutely shredded that trail on his 300! Its a bit harder for me to manhandle my 501 on it hahahaha. I'm excited to release the next episode as soon as I can!
Excellent resume of a real enduro adventurer. Help me to wait for the morning and start mine. Thank ✌
If it is the same trail, it was an absolute fight for survival to get out of there after the clutch broke. I will never ride that area again without my saw. The deadfall made it so much harder than it already was and needed to be. Glad to see you guys made it out alive as well! I can’t wait to see the videos of y’all fight thru it.
You forgot your saw 😂
Hello from Ukraine! Such a great content! We are doing the same thing in the Carpathians))
Hey! I'm glad you like it! I've never been to the Carpathians before!
It honestly makes me feel better that you are spooked by the single track on the side of of a cliff.
I see guys playing that off like it’s nothing all the time and I’m like, you have to be totally puckered to the max or there is something wrong with you!
Gotta keep it real 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Haha love it when you encounter a tree you instantly pulled out the saw :D The chain looked dull at first 😋
This style of video is a bit like Long Way Round with good action feel but no showreel Pol Tarres skill stuff. Everything is doable yourself 😎
Oh man.. Can't wait for the next part
super fun trail
Love the video. It's nice to have a friend to go ride with.
Thanks! He was an awesome riding partner. In the episodes to come he really helped to keep morale up when stuff went wrong 🤟🏼

Epasode # 3 was a real nail biter, best dirt bike vid I've watched, I was amazed you hard core guys kept your cool the whole time laughing through the whole ordeal. I must say never trust a Garmin, I've been sent off into no no land two many Times with my POS Garmin,
Gotta pack a warm something and extra supplies when riding in the Mountains because if shit can happen it will. Again great vid and stamina when its really needed, kudos to you two.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Braaap!
Thanks so much!! I think keeping it light hearted was a key part of staying relaxed. That garmin is somehow so valuable, but also can get us into hot water!!! I think for the future I may start packing my bivy with me on these adventures. I am excited for the expeditions to come 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Hats off to you and your riding buddy, That trail looks too tough for me , it's a long way down to the river with one bad move. thanks for sharing,
Thanks! I have to admit, I think it may have been too tough for me too. The first sections of the trail, I could keep my energy up. By the end of it, it truly beat me to my core. Not to mention caused us to spend the night out on the trail. Glad I made it out to tell the story!
Pretty sketchy 😅
What kind of drone are you using it works well avoiding stuff in those tight situations
great video.
🤟🏻🤟🏻
I commented on the other video. At the 37 min mark I would of left my bike lay there and walk home. I think I have PTSD now. Brass balls!
Hahahahahaha!!
killer content, keep up the great work!
You guys pulling any ticks off your gear after that ride, looks like those kinda woods at one part.
Its funny you ask cuz actually yeah I pulled a tick outta my leg. Tho, it wasnt from the ride. I had camped somewhat near the area the day or two before. It was a fresh one and hadnt been on me too long, but it was there. They're mean little fu**ers hahahahaha
Great stuff mate, from OZ. 🇦🇺What’s your drone you use?
Thanks! I have two mini 3 pros and a mavic 3 classic. I rotate between which one I use for different projects 🤟🏼
Hey what’s the riding like in Australia by the way??
@@madjack_757 awesome vid mate.
That log that you broke your mirror in the process of dragging your bike under looked like it could have easily been cut , and btw the mirror stem remaining looks dodgy, if your were to get crossed up in a incident,
Anyway the trails looks class and keep up the good footage 👍
I think it would have been too risky to make that cut on the log, but I agree I should have taken the mirror stem off sooner. I eventually take it off for that reason though. Stoked you like the footage man!
Most people, myself included, see that log as a potential hazard without the right equipment to deal with it in a safe way.
You all burnt more calories trying to move the stuff by hand than if you just cut it with the saw.
@CLAYKREBS we had limited saw fuel
@@madjack_757 you never go to that area in the video without plenty of saw gas. And the saw in an easy to get out spot.
I cleared over a 100 trees in that area in late August. They always fall there.
Intense riding!
Same thing happen to me and a buddy in fernan Idaho we missed the turn and had to spend the night in the woods abandon our bikes and walk out . Then the following weekend we had a bunch of friends chain saw us out to get back to our truck it was a survival situation like you guys .
That’s brutal!! Glad y’all made it out!
Good stuff!
What a amazing looking trail wow😮
Wow man I'm glad your ok
Me too 😂
Learned how to distill cactus water this way about 2 decades ago.
That’s a killer skill to have! What situation caused you to have to figure that out?
Awesome trail guys🤙🏻 that impailer on your bars tho was crazy. I was puckered for ya till the end 😬😬😬
Yeah I know. I ended up taking the mirror stem off cuz you're right. It coulda been bad if I got stuck with that mirror stem..
man you nailed it! What a fun ride! And someone please tell me what the drone is in this very video?
Thanks! The drone is a DJI Mavic 3 Classic.
@@madjack_757 The outcome looks fantastic. Really! I didn't expect drones to follow bikes in such a fluent way.
Loved it
I just got visions of that mirror rod going through your throat. There were a couple of close calls. 😅
Please excuse my ignorance, as i'm not familiar with the area. Why are there so many downed trees?
It's brutal
I used to work on old VMX bikes. I had a 1974 yz125, 1979 YZ250, and a 1989 CR250. Those maicos are so awesome too.
man sliding bikes under that tree was insane
Gotta do what ya gotta do 🤙🏼
Does anyone know what model and year that bike is?
I’m riding a 2022 fe501s and I believe carters bike is a 2016 gas gas 300
Nature (and faulty mechanic) makes us humble for sure! It was a great video but keep safe!! Don't feed Darwin! 🙏
I agree with the darwin comment hahaha!! This trail system beat me to my core and I need a break from single track. I think the next videos after this series might be more local trails or scenic spots.
Great vid! Thank you.
So are you going to release part 2? or just tease us?
I’m working super hard to try and get it released soon!
Is this in Idaho?
Yes
I subbed
How much extra fuel did you take with you?
We had an extra two liters of premix for the gas gas and saw. For me, I just relied on my oversized tank!
@@madjack_757 That settles it. I am getting the oversized tank for the 500ECX. Thank you for the reply.
Of course man!
I just got a set of double take mirrors that fold and I love them
NEED episode 2 PLEASE
You got the next installment ready yet? 😀🤣
Great production quality and videography man. Enjoyed this one. I must admit, as someone thats from the east coast thats ridden thousands of miles of idaho trail, I dont think I'll ever get used to that exposure. Maybe its getting bashed up as a kid and I'm older now, not sure. Just puts a lump in my gut. I tell you what man. Im gonna shoot you an email about a video idea Id like to see from ya maybe.
Thanks so much man! I am working on them now!
Very surprised you don't carry water filtration, it's so small and cheap these days
It’s funny cuz I have one!! This ride was supposed to only be a single days ride and ended up so much more than that (not by choice)
How did u have enuf gas for thirty hours
Oversized desert tank and we didn’t cover a lot of miles just a slow slog
Good vid! Should rename it "Kickstart Envy".
Not to jinx myself, haha.
Glad you guys came out okay!
😂😂😂 that’s a great title
I hit snow near Bridger Peak in Wyoming on 3 July and worked myself into a nearly similar situation. But I was alone and turned back before it got crazy.
Dude its crazy you mention Wyo!! I am out in Fort Bridger right now en route to some client work out east hahahaha. Good on you for knowing when to turn back. Its a way harder call to make than people realize, but sometimes its the right choice.
@@madjack_757 enjoy the ride. It’s beautiful
Idaho is absolutely beautiful. Not going to lie, i thought it was flat and boring. I'm now corrected.
You guys got Bears over there ?
It is super flat and boring. There’s nothing cool there at all. I heard Iowa is a much cooler place lol.
Idaho has a very thriving population of predators such as black/brown/(some)grizzly bears, wolves, cougars, coyotes, foxes, etc.. where we were was somewhat kinda near the grizzly bear range too which is sketchy lol.
Top sandwich spot to try is the top of Poplar Gulch trail by Buena Vista, Colorado
Yep, June in Idaho is still cold at night in the mnts. There's still snow in some places, plus it might actually snow, too.
Its no joke! Every early season ride is a gamble. Unfortunately for us, we drew the short straw and the temps were in the 20s for us that night. We had nothing but our riding clothes and a fire to keep warm.
Kinda reminds me to the Tour of Idaho videos I've seen.
in 1844 John C Fremont expedition crossed the sierra mountains. On Foot.
Glad you weren't impaled by your mirror stalk...🤣
2nd log question? Would it, could it have been an option to use a smaller log as a pry bar either near the top or bottom of that log to see if a little prying action might loosen the whole thing (while keeping yourself at a distance of course) and let that big log take off and find the river? Yes, no? Even worth a try?
It might have been worth a try. It’s definitely not a bad idea!
Was expecting more footage of your management of the situation overnight, but only saw video of your riding in the earlier part of the day.
There’s two more episodes coming
I would like to know what trail that is, looks awesome?? Do I email you?
Yeah! Shoot me an email at Madjackmedia.757@gmail.com
We also do some kind of trails in India with 200 cc heroxpulse adventure motorcycle
Thats awesome!
i couldnt stop looking at that mirror stem i just wanted to take it off the whole time hahaha trail looked narly
The scariest thing is that rod of broken mirror.
How do u drive for 30 hours without a empty tank
Slowly. Part of the time was spent fixing one bike and sleeping in the dirt.
Going under log was cool but don't like the spear on ur handle bars after mirror broke
Sorry, but riding with that ice pick staring at your chest and face is........an extremely poor choice.
I came to the same opinion and eventually removed it.
Your drone should have a setting to set "Return to controller" instead of its takeoff point.
Really?? Woah that would be a game changer for me. I’ll try to find that setting. Thank you!!!
So did you find that Return to Controller feature? I know on my DJI Air 3 I had that feature.
Let's see, what could go wrong with that mirror stem sticking up?
You need to contact Adventure Rider Radio & get on a Deep Trouble episode.
Thats not a half bad idea!
Hey! I never keep my mirors when I go for that kind of an adventure, no need and they can even get dangerous
Cheers!
Funny thing is I use mine to double check my gopro is turned on lol. I agree tho, they do pose an extra danger.
So you have 3-4 hours of fuel but you were lost for 30 hours???
Time to get some double take mirriors! That wouldn't have happened! The beginning part was good practice for some log hopping! If people in Australia can do them with dr650's we can too! Then again maybe they're built different 😆🤟
