  • Kane Creek Trail is an awesome canyon to ride to take a break from the extremely rugged slickrock trails in the area, but it comes with some unique challenges of its own..
For today's videos, I wanted to find a trail that could give me a chance to rest from all the gnarly terrain that had been putting my bike and I through the ringer for the past week. After looking around, I found this really awesome two-track trail that snaked its way through 12 miles of creek bed and gravel! It was a awesome break day, and I was stoked to get another couple miles of Moab dirt under my belt.
Hope you guys like the two videos!

No shame in taking the easy path, I am 58 and my body has been beaten and battered from years of BMX, Mountain biking and motorcycle riding, I always take the path of least resistance these days. Ride safe my young friend. 🤘😎🏍

I'm right there with you! I broke a whole lot of bones during my racing days, and now everything hurts in the morning and I'm only 22!! Sometimes picking the safest line is the best you can do. Theres nothing heroic about taking a line that leaves you and your bike broken in a ditch lol!

Momentum and power control are key in getting up those obstacles. Once you stop you’re done and have to either start the obstacle over or walk the bike up.

That brought back some nostalgic memories. At 12:23 we called that the parking lot, you could go up the hill or take the lower trail on ATV's. They used to have 2 sets of metal ramps on that first part of the lower trail. When we got to about 17:28 we hung a right and followed the rim and went back down that hill that the Jeeps were going up, near the parking lot. We'd ride in reverse and then do Chicken Corner for a full day ride. Thanks for posting

Thanks for the shout-out on this video. Great footage.....I really liked the drone shots as you dropped into the tight canyon. That one spot where you almost looped your bike used to be doable, but the jeeps & Razrs have made everything so filled with loose rock that it's tough to get traction. We would have followed you down, but one rider in our group headed back pretty early on the trail and we didn't want to make him wait all day. You could have followed where those jeeps were going, but after the ledge climbs there's really nothing notable until the obstacle you almost looped on. Such a fun ride. 😂

For sure man! You guys were a huge help. The drone footage is always my favorite to work with too. The canyon made for some super cool shots.
That spot where I almost looped out looks so much easier than it is! I had very little room to get a run up and I was more or less trying to climb up from a stopped position. Its funny, I can always tell when a part of a trail is gonna be tough when I can see all the tire marks from the jeeps lol
Its a shame y'all had to go back early! The trail is killer 🤟

@@madjack_757 Oh yeah, that Moab slick rock country is the devil. You know those stones are just waiting to harpoon your radiator, gash in the side of your engine covers, rim strikes on rocks if you try running low PSI for traction. Always some super sketchy blow sand covered rock that will cause rear wheel spin right where you need to wheelie. Fragments of boulders everywhere gnawing at your rims, just itching for a nice pinch flat. Very challenging but that place is crazy fun to ride. Pretty scenery too. I've ridden northern Utah but never Idaho. Seen videos - Idaho does look awesome. Maybe soon I'll get up there to escape the Nevada heat.

@@madjack_757 That hit at 27:09 sounded juicy! LoL. I usually kill it, get off and look for gaping holes leaking either oil or coolant. But maybe it was a foot peg? I've got a WR-450, DRZ-400 and RMZ-450. That DRZ is a bit heavy but cushy to ride and tough as nails. The RMZ-450 is vicious - a pure track bike. Finally my WR-450 (just got it last year) turned out to be something similar (I'm guessing) to your Husky. The WR is really pleasant for hitting trails like what you're riding. My early days of riding were all two-strokes. I really miss the lightweight. Wouldn't mind finding a KTM-300 or two stroke Husky, but always leery after having a 2003 RM-250 bake two pistons. Four strokes really have a good record with maintenance. Yeah, if I get up to Idaho I'll try to find you, drop a comment and see if you're up for ride. The videos you've put out of Idaho are awesome. If you are ever south of Vegas, the Nelson Hills are interesting and on google maps. Of course, Ocotillo Wells California is my all time favorite. Best,

@@sailingaeolus Oh yeah that one hurt a little lol. The rim impacted that sharp rock super hard and I'm lucky nothing bent lol. I got aftermarket rims just for the trip.
Yeah I rode two strokes for a long time too, but I agree the maintenance is just so much easier to keep up with un the 4 strokes.. I've killed a few motors and it sucks to do the rebuilds (unless you do some fun mods while you're in the motor). I actually rode one of those Husky 300s and it blew my mind! They're so awesome, but you realize how much you miss the torque from the 4 stroke right away when you ride it hahaha.
Yeah definitely shoot me a message if you're out in Idaho man! The season is just picking up now and the snow is melting quick. I've ridden out in ocatillo before, but it was only once a long time ago. Maybe someday I ought to make a few videos riding out down past vegas and cali?

The alternate or motorcycle bypass section is cool as heck. We loved it when we rode it. We had problems at the rock wall you did and needed to help each other out. Further along we encountered another rock wall feature that you rode by. Had we known that it would have made it easier. We'll go the same direction you did on our next time riding this trail. Feels sad when the trail ends but it was fun. For added adventure, you could have rode back down Behind the Rocks and Pritchett Canyon opposite of what you had ridden previously. Ah, probably not haha!

as one commenter mentioned you rode by the wall at the end I didn't realize you could do that ,we usually turn around just before the road and ride back and maybe do the ride to chicken corners if everybody is up to it, we park at one of the lots on Kane Creek Rd, if your game you can connect to Prichart Caynon trail near the end of Kane creek where you saw it go off to your left.

You have great quality footage and shots and make great content! I wasn't going to comment but I think giving some constructive criticism is the right thing. I've been watching this series and while the cinematography is top quality, and I mean that, I find your riding a little frustrating to watch. Like another has commented in this video - momentum is your friend. Go a little faster and hit things with a bit more speed instead of trying to accelerate when you're on the obstacle. Worlds easier. On that front too I find you lug the engine a little TOO much. So much so that it stalling and nearly sending you over the bars just riding along should be a wake up call about that. Keep the rpm up a bit more (perhaps keep a gear lower) and the bike will work better for you and you might find a lot of things easier. There's quite a few instances of you JUUUST getting up an obstacle and stalling the bike just as you hit the top. Hit it with a little more speed, and a little more engine rpm.

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  4 месяца назад +1

Hey man, I appreciate the comment. So because I am riding a 501, it has massive amounts of torque and the problem about that motor on slickrock is that it has the tendency to lose traction and then grab traction. When it does grab, it hooks really really hard since the motor is so torquey. I mention this in another video in the series, but stalling the motor on those rock walls was actually my goal. It allows me to clear the obstacle without risking looping out (which I actually do in the kane creek videos). As for my speed going into each obstacle, take a look at the actual distance that I have to get a run up for each one. The vast majority of the rock walls out there had little to no room to gain momentum.
Also, I'm not Graham Jarvis lol. I'm no perfect rider and I probably ought to practice my enduro skills. At the end of the day though, I think I did pretty good considering I am balancing the cinematography side and the riding side of it.
