  • The decision was made to abandon the Oodnadatta track and head straight to Coober Pedy to get it fixed 🔧. We made it to Coober Pedy fine, which was a relief. Kurt got the part ordered and all fixed within a few days, which was great. We decided to make the most of our time in Coober Pedy while there and see all the sights. We splashed out and did a tour with Oasis Tourist Park. $45 each for 3 hours, which included an underground mine tour 👷🏻‍♀️👷🏻and chauffeured around to see all the sights. Since it was out of the busy period, everywhere was quiet - which turned out great! We were the only ones on our tour so we got the VIP treatment.
One afternoon, we drove out to ‘The Breakaways’ and watched the sunset 🌄 - it was incredible! Highly recommend seeing them at that time. On the drive out, we also stopped in at Dingo Fence Info board - the fence runs through 3 states! The highlights for us were the breakaways, kangaroo orphanage 🍼 & the quirky random stuff* all through the town. Overall Coober Pedy was okay, we wouldn’t say we were disappointed, it’s just, I think we both had different ideas in our heads on what to expect and it wasn't what we had imagined.

In a word, that centre bearing was Rooted!. Good thing you are handy on the tools and have a good 'ear' to nip a problem in the bud before it turns into a drama.

Yeah, it hasn't failed since so maybe it was a dodgy part.

How good is Coober Pedy! Most unique little place in Australia! Shame you only ended up there for repairs! But a cool place to get stuck I guess!

To get a huge dugout and stuff it with massive supplies to try to escape the " Great Reset " agendas or a possible Global war wouldn't be such a bad idea. Just make sure it's fairly fortified and out of view a bit too...
I'd include a gym room with good artificial lighting and an entertainment room. An area for pets if any... Some are so big you could even include underground dugout garages to store and protect vehicles. I think one or two of these dugouts even has an underground swimming pool... but I'd also do it as ANONYMOUSLY as possible so as not to attract too much unwanted attention maybe.
Lighting and air quality and rubbish / waste disposal technologies would be important factors to cover and I would seek technology and devices that don't give off SIGNALS as countries ( especially China ) already have signal tracking technology satellites in space to track and locate people.

I could buy 3 of these for one of them, but I don't need to because this bad boy is still rolling. Go the Nissan's!

Wow! Toyota is *that* much more expensive there?

@@oilhammer04 For a 2003 models yeah it's pretty close. If you were to walk into the dealership today for a new one, a Toyota would be around $85,000 and the Navaras are $38,000. From what I've heard and seen on the road the new Toyota's are struggling just as bad as any other. Nothing is built to last anymore.
