- This was my second flight with the DJI Air 3. I wanted to try out the Omni Directional Obstacle Avoidance, and APAS 5.0. I'd say the drone did fantastic! I also used the 3X tele camera on the Air 3 to get a better look at the dancing fountains at The Meridian Village. It was an enjoyable flight.

@IdahoQuadcopter it definitely looks like it. The battery life, the range and the speed as well. The air 3 may just be the next drone I get. I just purchased the hs360s to start the learning process.

While it is probably 20 to 30 db louder than the Mini 3 it does seem quieter because the pitch is lower. Probably do to the larger size props. Thanks for the great video!

20:15 is really informative and a key takeaway. A good look at the zoom, and the note about needing to start/stop the video. That is such a shame and really frustrating. I'm assuming it has to be a decision by design...

if you tried to spotlight the steeple by turning the drone a bit to the left, and then put a square over it, would the drone then recenter with the steeple?
Yes, in spotlight mode you can move the point of interest wherever you like. 👍
Great Job as always. I just got my tax return and finally ordered an Air 3 and I can't wait. FYI on your memory card. I ordered a Sandisk card once from Amazon and i had to return it because it was counterfeit. .

Glad you got a heat break. Im impressed that upward avoidance works as well as Mavic 3 without straight up firing sensors. Dustin Dunnill illustrated it and it found paths through a tree canopy. This is because the 4 corner fisheye lenses are canted slightly upward compared to Mavic 3 corner ones. A cheaper solution? Only if it works and it seems to do the job! Next time test that more if time permits. No NIFTY MODE, LOL! (I go extra slow when I want to be Nifty😂😅😂 - that term cracks me up!

Having to STOP recording to use the 3x tele zoom is annoying Marcus.
Glad you showed that. I like to use zoom on the Air2s but having to stop each time to zoom with the Air 3 is a bummer..
Plus no charging block isn't good for anyone new to droning. No Filters which we got with the Air2s..These are Minor Problems.. It is a Fantastic flyer and APAS is a step above all the other Air series IMHO..Thanks Marcus Nice Video
Hey Bob, thank you for stopping by. Yeah, DJI pulled a fast one with no charger or filter set. It's a default price raise.
I had the same problem with a SD card Samsung Pro Plus ; but the Lexar 1667 professional 128 gb is realy good !

And another thing, lol: For a really big camera module... Mavic 3 Pro looked like they photoshopped that gimbal/camera but nope. Its BIG. When tracking or doing up close Mastershots (it does slight different ones of people up close abd can "auto set start position" - an option ehen its really close to a person - the camera turns SIDEWAYS at you when tracking you during those situations. Looks so weird. I'll try to capture it with my phone next outing.

I ordered my Air 3 with the card that DJI China online store sells
I usually get the DJI drones from the Toronto store but they are still waiting for their order saying maybe next week so I went with china 🇨🇳
Still get it next week but I don’t have to drive 40 miles in heavy Toronto traffic

Nice demonstration of the APAS 5.0 feature Marcus. It would definitely come in handy for Quickshots & Mastershots, which would normally raise my blood pressure with my side sensor-less Air2S.

Also had the same problem you describe with the Samsung Pro+ Micro SD in my Air 3. Installed it, formatted with the drone, worked fine for 1 day. Powered off, started up next day and the drone wont recognize it... nor will my PC any longer. Frustrating.
Yes, I'm sticking with a San Disk extreme on this drone.
One question is does APAS work at 4k - 60fps. I remember on the Mavic Air 2 there were some limitations on the APAS that had to do with camera settings.
That's a great question. I need to look into that, as I don't know offhand.
Hi Marcus, nice demonstration of APAS with the Air 3. That fast ascend/descend of the Air 3 is spectacular, but I have had minor issues with it being too fast. I have occasionally accidentally hit the left stick and had the Air 3 either shoot up, or drop like a rock. I may turn those speed setting down. Rick (Drone Valley) lost his Air 3. He had the drone in sport mode and descended fast. Then not thinking, went forward into a tree where the drone fell into a water retention pond. See his video. Even the pros can screw up?

APAS is sooo much fun, I have a small forest of tall thin trees in my neighborhood and earlier today I just flew the Air 3 straight through!!! My butt hole puckered a lil bit during the process but she made it through with flying colors lol

I had a bit of a hard time getting a mini SD into the remote at first. It’s a SanDisk 128 GB and I had to push kinda hard a few times to get it to stay in there. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had that problem. I don’t like pushing real hard on that SD card cause I’m worried I might break something.

Wonderful flight, Marcus! On the OA, I'd be interested to see how it does if you were flying side to side into something. That side to side is the achilles heal of my Air 2S and Mini 3 Pro. Thanks
The Air 3 is equipped with omni directional OA, the Mini 3 Pro and Air 2S are not. The Air 3 has no problem avoiding obstacles to it's sides. 👍 Thank you John!

I had the same problem my Samsung 128 gig card wouldn't work either. I guess you have to stick to the recommended ones and the specs.

to be fair, only the front of the drone was being tested. would've been a bit more nerve wracking playing the slalom game sideways full stick, instead of forwards. backwards would've been a cool adventure too.

The little mishaps you have are what make your videos so fun to watch. Please don't cut the mishaps out. It makes you so genuine. I flew my 3 pro around a landmark in my hometown and was so proud, until I got home and realized I screen recorded but didn't record on the drone😢. Your videos are great.

Let's hope DJI roles down some form of "Explorer Mode" to the Air 3 from the Mavic 3 line of drones sometime soon. That'll fix the problem of recording when switching cameras. Also, I noticed the "Storage Full" notification stayed on the screen, even after you switched to the SD card. Possibly a bug that needs to be squashed there. Enjoyed the fountain portion of the video!
