Fab Morvan on Milli Vanilli Being Forced to Lip Sync After Signing Their Deal

- Fab Morvan, one-half of Milli Vanilli, opened up about being trapped in one of the biggest music scandals of all time. Morvan opened up about being a struggling artist alongside Rob Pilatus before they signed to German producer Frank Farian, who had already had massive success with Boney M.
Throughout the conversation, Fab spoke about forming a friendship with Rob in Germany and meeting Frank while playing soccer. Fab even went into detail about first hearing "Girl You Know It's True" and Frank telling Rob that they're going to lip synch the track, which you can hear more about in the above clip.
Regardless of them singing or not- Milli Vanilli had a style, fashion, dance moves. Forever will be Milli Vanilli 🙌
Oh stop , why cant people except failure
Please stop.
What was the failure ?
They got so lucky!!!
They couldn't sing!
They could barely speak English 😂
But their ego and vanity couldn't handle it being taken away from them.
They got lucky!! Really lucky.
If they make a movie out of Milli Vanilli story, I'll go watch it for sure.
Maria Silva Me too
Where do we sign a petition to make this happen?!!!
such a great idea
@Carolinen100 You know, I have this feeling that someone doesn't want that to happen. The movie will make people sympathize with the duo so it's bad.
@Carolinen100 Yep. It's a mystery that not even a book is out about them. I have no idea how powerful Farian is, but those around him are VERY influential people that can't afford to be shame for being involve and condoning the whole lip-synching business. Farian himself sounds pretty scary and powerful (despicable too) in the full-interview: ruclips.net/video/lqmO9VE0PuY/видео.html
It's sad caused I'd really love to see a movie of Milli Vanilli story :(
i love the fact this man never gave up doing music, and never surrendered to a day job he makes a living doin exactly what he loves

Fab is cool. I like his style. He seems really humble. He learned his lesson through the whole "Milli Vanilli" fiasco. Too bad Rob isn't around to talk about his experience. RIP Rob.

sandy red Very very poignant and true. God bless you for seeing that.
If some people would listen to what other people are saying when they speak, they might just comprehend, which is mentally grasping things and not just taking things for face value. And there are many other artist lip syncning from back then til now just listen. And they did make their own music after that but just didn't hit like with the other songs.
sandy red True
No question about that
The Milli Vanili story has always fascinated me, Props to Vlad for this interview, can't wait for the other parts.

They were ostracized for lip singing but nowadays it doesn't even matter.
Well yea it does matter TODAY...IF ITS NOT YOU 😂😂😂😂😂
They were ahead of their time. Very few people get pissed when their favorite artist lip sync. I.e. Mariah Carey and many others. The difference is at least the fans have heard the other artist actual singing and proven themselves as great vocalist. They came on the scene under false pretenses and believed not to be even mediocre singers. Which I don’t know of their vocal abilities. I’m just sorry this all happened.

The minds and ways of the world is swayed so easily.
I respect Milli Vanilli a little more now...they were trapped by the music industry scums but didn't really know. Alot of artists at that time didn't read their contracts or get an attorney involved and in the end suffered the same way if not worst. Know the business before you get in it young ones!!
they didnt have any money for an attorney and frank did there contracts that either guy could read they didnt know what it said
SciFlyyTV They were just used, and took the fall, while the one responsible (Farian) got away Scott free.
If you don't read your contract then you deserve whatever it is you may get. That is just beyond stupid when you don't take some time to read your contract.
"Know the business before you get into it"..."You have to read the contracts"...that are profoundly childish/immature assumptions...it always doesn't work like that...they had a window of opportunity and they just grabbed it...period...what would you guys do within the same circumstances?!
If they sang themselves, they would gotten nowhere to begin with.
This man has an incredible story. All my life Milli Vinilli has been the but of countless jokes, but never once did I realize, they are the fall guys in this whole operation. They didn't mastermind it or initiate it, they were just kids that got used up by the industry. Fab, start shopping the screenplay for the biopic, bro.
They just didn't have the talent needed, they couldn't sing, they could barely speak the language, they were clothes horses that got an amazing opportunity until the scam was revealed.
They were not victims, they were opportunists that nobody would have ever heard about without it.
They got their time in the limelight they so desperately craved with no discernible talent, they got the kind of luck most of the rest of the world would give an arm for.
He seems like such a nice person
The lip sync scandal never mattered to me. They had the image and showmanship and that's what the fans loved. I'm so sorry that the other dude died.
We still love u Fab Morvan 👍😊

Right they opened doors and closets for Drake
I'm not finding any stories about Drake being caught making a record that didn't have his voice on it but did have his face on the cover, and him lip-syncing the videos to songs he didn't sing. That's the Milli Vanilli story. I don't fault Rob and Fab for it, but the ONLY thing they did was ACT and not sing.
James Carter Yet they proved they could sing after the whole lip sync controversy. Get over it bro. Beyonce, J-Lo fucking Justin Timberlake etc the list goes fucking on. When persuing a singing career the vocal chords take a toll. Many famous singers have endured and fell victim to the lip syncing

What about I blessed the rains down in Africa

After the lip synch fiasco, to see Fab singing on Arsenio for real was dope.
See this is why a movie needs to be made so the full story will be told, I didn't even know about this other group Frank made lip sync before Milli Vanilli until now and had no idea the beginning of how everything started to form together. Makes me sick to this day how they were used as puppets and got the blame while the key master minded one disappeared behind the scene.
I agree. Enough time has passed, I think. Fans who bought the album I am sure have gotten over being played, especially now that a fuller picture of what happened is coming out.
However, I am sure some in the music industry still look at this as a sore spot & probably would do their best to make sure it never gets off the drawing board. As long as Frank is alive, I am sure he would not want to be portrayed as a bad guy in this whole scenario & he might prevent it from being made, as well. I will never understand his reasoning for exposing the duo, however he tries to explain it (his explanation in the VH1 Behind The Music episode made absolutely no sense).

The album that truly encapsulates the duo is All Or Nothing, because that's how the album was originally released in most of the world. It made the idea of whether or not Rob & Fab actually sang matter less. The "U.S./Remix" album's original songs are what were recorded for the album that was released in America, so that the group's music here would fit more to the traditional conventions of American pop music.

wow, he hasn't aged a day...
This man looks absolutely beautiful for his age! They were certainly apart of my childhood. Thanks for telling us your story!
This is what Michael Jackson would've looked like today if he was alive without the plastic surgery...
Absolutely. MJ was fine before the surgeries. He also had a beautiful brown complexion but he didn't see it like that....
He had vitiligo, your skin becomes white in random patches. He first used makeup to correct and average his skin tone, and then became addicted to managing his appearance. It is actually quite sad. I don’t think it was really him making decisions like that, when people have that big of an addiction or problem, it’s the drugs or dark forces around them driving them to act strangely.
Gehenna Dogs I’m not talking about the vitiligo... I’m talking about the nose, the chin dimple and the rest of the surgeries... I love Mike to death, but he went a little too far on going under the knife. He was perfect in 1983 after just one or maybe two nose jobs
teetrinity4153 I was just pointing out that he had really intense body dysmorphia and that he got all of those surgeries most likely through periods of mania because he was so mentally ill. It is different when people make actions based off of an association rather than their own will. I think altering your body can be addicting and I personally sympathize with him for unfortunately becoming so addicted.
@@YeekTV_Atlanta sometimes its like drug. People start to take surgeryes and see that they can repair something they think its broken. And then its start. MJ got alot of money so that was not problem.
