      Yes, he never faced repercussions even though not only he was the mastermind of the whole thing, and he did it before with Boney M. He continued to make hits with groups he developped, most famously La Bouche.

      Story always intrigued me. I'm well aware this was common in the biz but not openly spoken of. Music biz was kinda like Kay fabe in wrestling, people lived the gimmick.. this was also the era when it wasn't ok like it is these days to do more than 1 thing. Back than you couldn't be a actor wanting to be a musician and be taking seriously neverless a model etc. You had to pick 1 if you were to be taken seriously unlike these days. .different era

      This is absolutely not true!! The rehab was financed by Frank Farian as well as the health-recovery-trip to Sri Lanka he supposed to start. However, he died because of Alcohol and drug intoxication from the night before departure, blowing 2.000 Euros pocket money he was given for his planned stay. He was discovered dead by a employee of Frank Farian, after they couldn’t reach him over the phone before his departure. There is evidence for this in a number of interviews and research done by well regarded media. At RTL (a large TV broadcaster in Germany/ Europe) , journalists confirmed, that the contracts Rob and Fab had with Milli Vanilli were extremely fair having them earned several millions just for jumping around and lip-syncing. Tell me, who else did get that at this time? Where is your evidence for Fab saying that rehab has been paid by him?

    • @loirinlancaster3
      @loirinlancaster3 2 года назад +2

      Actually no, they were better then the actual singers but it was a too little, too late situation. They lost the public’s trust at that point. Arsenio Hall actually gave them a chance when they brought out new material with THEIR ACTUAL VOICES and I remember that telecast and they sounded great. We all felt bad for them because you had the scandal which the media was all about money back then as they are today but their was no social media back then, so everyone was about selling magazines and and television shows like entertainment tonight among said others who tore them a new hole. It really wasn’t the fans, it was people who played along for media sake burning records to make it look like it was a big deal. Meanwhile we had people like Joey Lawrence from the show “Blossom” singing songs like “There’s nothing my love can’t fix for you baby” which I luv the song, he was a one hit wonder. I knew people who was NOT gonna burn milli vanilli records and was still playing blame it on the rain and the other songs by them. It’s was really sad all around

Even though I was too young to be thinking about men being handsome...I still thought he was. It saddened me how they were treated when they were exposed. When Rob died, I always wondered if it actually was accidental or if he was simply tired! SMH! Covering his upbringing lends so much context to his life & death.

    I did a video on performance models. Basically, people like Rob and Fab who perform in videos for the real artists behind certain songs and Rob and Fab were the first ones I talked about. Models like that were very common in the 80s. Look at Technotronic's first video "Pump Up the Jam" and Black Box's "Strike It Up" (Just as you mentioned). And, of course, C+C Music Factory. For some reason, though, Rob and Fab got villanized for something that was still goin' on even after they returned their Grammy! To be honest, I'd still bump their album if I could find it now. And I'd only buy it if Rob and Fab were on the cover. Not even kidding. Great video! R.I.P. Rob. You were a gorgeous man who deserved better than what you got.

    The sick sad twisted part about this (because I grew up in that era) I remember this soooo well, after the scandal they debuted the album they had initially intended with their actual voices and they were 10x better then the voices they were dubbing for which was crazy. Oddly enough I do believe that if they went out and sung the songs “Blame it on the rain’’ “Girl you know it’s true” with their actual voices at the time they had to promote those songs other then masquerading, then they would have been accepted. I really do believe that, the audience would have been like damn y’all sound better then the actual record and they would have been the exception to the rule at that point.

    • @daryltracy7949
      @daryltracy7949 2 года назад +4

      They did! They sang those two songs occasionally along with their own music when they would perform at local avenues. They couldn't book professional concerts sadly because people were still not over the scandal. I would love to see footage of that. I've only seen pictures of them performing post 1990.

    • @loirinlancaster3
      @loirinlancaster3 2 года назад +1

      @@daryltracy7949 what was needed wasn’t done, before the scandal hit they could have pulled the bull by it’s horns and said Fu*k it we’re not gonna lip sync to the track but we’ll use our actual voices instead and they didn’t. When the footage of them lip syncing came out, it wasn’t the first time fans caught them, this time it was recorded. That record skipped more times then they’d care to admit, and they were already informed that the actual singers were about to head to the press which gave them time to get ahead of it because touring was everything back in the day, fans took it way…….. more seriously then they do now because it was a different generation. So sadly as a matter of course they are as much to blame. Only person on tour was them, it’s not like the record label or mangers were there at every turn, maybe the promotional tour YES but when the ongoing tour before the scandal, they had time to devise a plan. This is why management is everything, it’s a make or break. And as an artist I’ll just say it’s important to be kind to everyone from back up singers, dancers, DJ’s band members and everyone that’s part of your crew when your on tour because when you are everyone has got your back and apparently someone didn’t have theirs.
