Fantastic video Billy! That river looks amazing. I started poling just a few year back to get away from crowds on river trips. Not too many people go upriver anymore..that's the fun part!
fun to watch Billy there was a French fellow that ran some sport camps for deer hunters on the ST,John river in north east Maine. Every night he poled his Canoe up the river to check on the hunters and see to their needs. He had a Colman lantern hanging on a pole on the front of the canoe. Some nights when coming back down the river he could have as many as 4 deer with him
quite an adventure 2 say the least. Have 2 have good balance 4 this. I would B in the river in 1 min. flat ha ha. Thanks Billy. Hope U & Roxanne had a wonderful & safe Thanksgiving weekend.....................................ATB Terry.....................God Bless
when you showed that clip of the rapids and you said "one the easy stuff is over" I was screaming "Billy Nooooooo" I was happy to see you go down sitting. looks like you had another fun adventure my friend. Take care. Mark
You must have been a surfer at some point Billy, your balance is excellent! Im assuming that poling is for shallow rivers? As always, you bring a ray of sunshine to the world with your videos, thanks for making me smile as usual! x
Enjoyed the video Billy. I have recently been delving into the study of canoe polling. It seems to be a very useful technique to know if one is proficient at using it. Thanks for the video.
+Billy Rioux Hey Billy, you should take a look at 'Beyond the Paddle' by Garrett Conover. Lots of great advice for folks wishing to explore a canoes capabilities. Al
I'm afraid I'm so awkward & unbalanced I'd be spending most of my time getting wet and trying to get back in the canoe..I'd really need to add outriggers on the canoe and sorry, rapids are fine for fishing in, at the eddy, but not canoeing, for me but I'll take em on in my kayak..awsum fun..Thanks Billy, as always, stay safe !!
Once again a great outdoor video Billy Keep up the excellent fun videos. Do you carry a spare pole in case the one you have breaks or slips away in the water that would be my luck if trying it
Watching this, it came to mind how much time and effort it took just to capture this on video. Did you do this solo? If not, no matter. Nicely done all around.
Simon
