I just finished this game recently and missed a bunch of achievements, not that I was trying that hard for 100% completion, so this will come in handy for a future playthrough. Cheers!
It definitely isn't game where it feels like you would try for 100% because of the relaxed feel of the game! Earthborn is more of the feeling of "challenge" worthy of chasing the pixball and other achievements associated with it! Hopefully you get around to it! 😄

It's such a great game so just the fact you played it to completion is wonderful! I also like to poke around guides to see what I missed, although, sometimes it just temps me to play more haha!
I waited years for this game and it has not disappointed! Love it so much I ordered the English physical copy and the Japanese collectors edition! Will definitely be playing again to 100% this beautiful game :)
Its so worth it too! I feel like I want to play through it again soon cause I had so much fun. Earthborn was like all I thought about for 2 weeks cause I had so much fun with it! Its just such an all around good game
I've seen a few people play this game and yet, I even discovered some things I totally didn't know about. Granted, most of it were secret chest areas, but it was still pretty awesome. Eastward is so small, yet so huge and I love it. Thank you for making this, it was a really fun watch!

I agree, somehow they managed to create such an interesting and expansive world while also being going forced to spend little time in these areas cause of the antagonists in the game :( it's an interesting way to explore and forces you to "appreciate places while you're there"
@@Momonocle I think I liked the idea of spending short moments in each area. Each area was treated with so much effort and care that it made you long for more and that's what you hope for in a game. I really do hope we get a sequel, spinoff or even prequel; I crave more! XD

Thank you SO much for this guide! Helped me to realise that I'd skipped consuming some of the 'quest' recipes, I'd been going crazy trying to figure out what I'd missed.
A little side note that may be useful to others for the Pixballs: the four "secret" prizes (that appear after beating Earth Born at least once) don't show in the prize preview on the pixball machine. I was going kinda loopy trying to reload until I found one listed under the prizes, but they should drop from any rotation!

I wouldn't call it lazy perhaps you didn't notice a few things.
1. I show in text all items available in each given shop
2. Most vendors don't have a circulating food item unless I show the text. The items are always available
3. If you're missing some hard to find ones you're probably missing the energy drink or glazy berry jam
4. Are you eating all the cooked dishes even the story relevant ones? Those are easily forgotten
5. Try to be more thorough while you watch the guide, I show every food item in the given shops so if you're missing something perhaps the guide isnt the problem 😁
@@Momonocle Oh no actually the "Glazy Berry Jam" and the "Energy Drink" are the ones that are quite unmissable since they have their own dedicated part in your video, the ones that aren't very precise however are the dishes writen in white during 2 seconds when the shops are listed, there is no photo of the food or anything it's just thrown out there and same for a good part of the ingredients. So i think i'm missing like the donut maybe or some elusive dish from a store but no means of knowing wich one and i don't even know if i keep my "already eaten food" in a new game +.
I'm sorry but i find that part a bit unprecise. It's still very nice but i just wouldn't call it a "guide", for me a guide would "walk you through" the game making sure you don't miss anything => Ergo play the full game while explaining everything whereas this is more like a condensed tips video where you have to fecth and search here and there for what you're looking for (i have found myself opening 3 or more instanses of this video to have the treasures in one and following it as i play while searching for the food and mini quest in two other pages => Not really practical tbh).
It's still very nice that at least someone made a video to help get the 100% achievements in Eastward because you are the only one who did something so i still appreciate it, i just would have prefer a let's play of the all game to follow as i play cause it sometime gets difficult to follow everything at the same time in this video. I still put a 👍 and wrote my commentary for the RUclips algorithme though 🙂.

I guess from my perspective a guide is something helps you achieve the end result and is displayed decently thorough or enough to get you to the point you can do it on your own. If I had labeled it a walkthrough thats probably more accurate to what youd be looking for in terms of detail! Hopefully it helps you/has helped you in other ways though!
@@Momonocle But you are right it's not lazy i might have been salty when i realised i'll have to play the game yet a third time to get that achievement and it's not really fair to have the first comment in the comment section be that bad so i'm gonna change it and for people reading those comments and don't understanding a thing i originally wrote "This "guide" is so lazy on the dishes aspect that i missed "Fat and Happy" and i have no idea what i'm missing you could have been more precise on that part especially since it's one of the hardest achievement to get...", making more sense in the response.
@@TheHeartsKingof I definitely understand! I'm still learning how to make a guide (my Gris one was a learning lesson for sure) so criticism is still merited and appreciated as I even invited it in the video!
And I share the pain of playing through again! Haha I played through 4 times looking for chests it really was a lot but in the end Eastward is still a game I love enough to play over and over.
1:08:00 I personally found enjoyable success with putting the Rage belt on the Hunter. My understanding was for the Monk, you wanted to focus on using his AP skills to want that crit damage more, and the Rage belt doesn't help with that. BUT, once the hunter gains the back party ability to always fire an arrow, the rage belt DOES trigger, and I found it almost always rolled successfully with every arrow, while I spent time cycling between the Monk, Priest, and Mage; the Monk for that raised attack switching in and out between turns, the priest (with Lucky coat) for shields and healing or sucking away HP while healing when in the back row, and the Mage to keep meditating for full AP before using the big attacks (The Mage's "Burn all AP" loadout is definitely the best and I'd argue mandatory, especially with Heat laser, add Dragon's Fury and/or Magic Echo and the incredible damage is what really helps to deal with werewolves and demon guards; that said, still have to know what you're doing when facing Werewolves! lol)
So true! Admittedly, I didn't get too creative with my builds haha, I just used what I was having the most success with! I do really like your suggestion for a rage belt on the Hunter though, im surprised I didn't think of it! I think it's because early game I just rely on the Monk to blast through stuff and then later it's all about the Mage. I appreciate the enthusiasm of different builds though cause honestly Earth Born is so fun! P.s. if you're playing the DLC let me know if you want a bit of a secret. I won't say it in the comments without permission because its a wonderful easter egg so I'll be vague about it ;) let me know
@@Momonocle i have been blasting through the DLC (and I use that term literally, i think I optimized my days too much and ruined the pacing of the DLC a good bit) finished the story and trying to for 100%. I assume the secret is not about the dev room, but it would be nice to know what the secret is, there's not alot of guides or posts out yet about the DLC!
Nope you got it! I hope everyone finds it because I loved it! Since we were talking about Earth Born I just wanted to make sure you had a hint to see it! I also blasted through and optimized my playing, but I intend to possibly start another file and approach things a little differently.
@@Momonocle the sneaky part of the secret for me was not realizing there was a light switch right by the door on the south wall; that makes it ALOT more appreciable to see everything than wandering blindly in the dark with just the monitors turned on from the button.
@@ojhat yesss! Haha I was like "Where AM I?" when I got there. I do believe people will miss it though, so I plan to make a basic tips & tricks guide for the dlc for fun. It's simple enough to figure out but for someone is approaching things casually they might miss some things!

Thank you so much for this! I've been trying to play very thoroughly, but I still missed a lot of these chests. The heart piece at 44:18 hurt especially because I'm currently halfway through chapter 7 on my second playthrough and I have zero heart pieces :) dammit, one more achievement I won't get! At least now I know where to get all the gear pieces so I can at least get the weapon upgrade achievement
I'll probably need one more playthrough to get Fat and Happy though. I don't usually buy the already prepared food or drinks at shops because getting ingredients is cheaper AND you get more bang for your buck. Like why would I want to spend 20 salt to give me 5 hearts when I could get 8-10 hearts with three pieces of meat?

Honestly I was the same way during my 1st playthrough, plus the cooking is just so dang fun it's just the better thing to do 100% of the time!

This is so helpful! I lost it when I realized that all of my alternate forms for the Pixball figurines were missing upon chapter changing. I hope that once I get the achievement for unlocking all Pixballs, that I don't lose it when I chapter select afterward lol.
And, just a random sharing of my thoughts: I loved this game a lot. I could have done with a little less prurience at times, but the artwork and music were amazing. I was so surprised when in Ester City's Pleasure Bay mart how I heard what sounded like human voices over what had been music that I routinely heard ever so briefly (in the time to reach the clerk from the door or vice versa)~
I only wish that iam8bit had inner cover art for the physical US version and that they addressed things like the loss of alternate forms upon chapter selection and the glitching of the food item selection when I opened the menus for shopping or cooking. Additionally, for a game that has a story that requires careful reading, I hated how the text sometimes ran off the screen or how for so beautiful a game, there would be such out of place colored lines of pixels on the sides when the rest of the screen would be say, white.
Really happy you found it helpful! And yes I was also VERY disappointed when I went to change chapters to get more salt for tokens and I only had one AA pixball to get!
Out of curiosity what platform did you play on? I didn't notice any of these things on pc personally but could be I optimized differently! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
@@Momonocle I played on the Switch Lite. I forgot they released it on the PC, and I think that might explain the problems I saw. I plan on trying to defeat the Demon King, today, then getting the rest of the forms while still in Ester City, then testing whether I still lose alternate forms once the achievement for all Pixballs being had is attained
Ahhh, that may be the reason, I had a weird feeling that it wouldnt be best on the switch but I did buy the physical collectors edition for the switch just to have it.
Good luck with the Demon King! I think the alternate forms stay once you complete the achievement...but I cant remember completely. Guess you can make more than one save to be sure!

I seen a video for the battle with the Gull swordsman in earthborn Upon his defeat You'll get around 300 xp and get a new weapon for the knight called the master sword. (Obviously a reference to the master sword in the legend of zelda series) The sword also has a shield with it to increase defense. The master sword increases your knights attack power by 40 points and your knights defense by 30 points
That's pretty insane, I don't know how someone would have enough resources by the end to defeat him though. Unless he doesn't have as much HP as I initially thought. But he hits like a TRUCK, so it just felt like a bad idea to try to take him on any time I encountered him.

However, I have a question: does the game have any option to see all the achievements you've found and the ones you're missing?
Yes! The game itself has its own achievement system, it will show you the ones youve found, and it has its own order of completion as well. However it doesn't show you the ones you havent completed. They will only show up as "???"
@@Momonocle Oh... I must be blind or something. In my defense, I'll say that in other games the list of achievements is usually displayed in the main menu :')

Great guide! Two question, want to make sure I don't miss anything:
1) Can I back track in each Chapter as long as I'm in that Chapter or will I miss chests if I leave a dungeon without collecting a specific chest?
2) Should I save all ingredients for cooking until the end of the game? How many of each ingredient should I buy from the stores? I don't want to be short of an item when I reach end game.

So sorry I got to this so late, you may have solved these questions already but I will still respond!
1) You usually cannot backtrack, definitely get everything in the dungeon while you're there
2) I would suggest buying a surplus and cooking still when you can for healing purposes. Usually I bought a surplus of 3 items, and kept 3 for cooking at the very least. I would just keep tons of surplus and try to keep your cooking only to items that show up everywhere in the game, leave the exclusive food items until the end.

Any idea what the rough completion time is for the game when using your guide?
Hmmmm hard to say, I want to say with the inclusion of Earthborn in that...probably about 20-30 hrs? The big thing this hinges on is getting enough tokens for getting all the pixballs! My perspective is a bit skewed, cause making the guide took about 60 hrs of gameplay but thats due to combing through the world for everything!
28:57 there was another chest inside the town center but i don't know if it's neeeded for 100%
30:31 I go over that chest! Since it's most convenient to get it after the party!

In another theme... I love this game, that's why I'm trying to get all the achievements. However, the only one missing is the one with the treasure chests, I already have all of them, the 101 chests. I already passed the game 2 more times, I have not skipped any, and still the account does not go up from 99 chests. I love the game, but this already has me pissed off. Does anyone know how to fix it? Or if I should go back... pass it :c
Hmmmm chests are definitely tricky. I can safely say I went through the game 4 times before getting them all! I would just be really thorough with the guide...otherwise my only advice is to make sure you get all the hearts maybe? I dont think its a glitch but what system are you on?
@@Momonocle I'm on PC (Steam), I've already seen 2 more chests advance, but now the counter shows 102, and I don't know which one is missing, although I suspect it may be in ester city, since the chest next to of the hotel next to the robot that sells tokens is invisible to me and I don't know if it's open or closed (I suspect it's closed) since the chest machine doesn't make a sound.
Hmmmm so odd...perhaps its a bug or something is reseting your progress due to using the chapter select? I've found chapter select sometimes messes with your progess 😵💫
I defeated the demon king the first time and I have spend more than 50 tokens already and haven’t received any of the rare dragons🙃
I feel your pain, it really took forever to get all the pixballs. Imagine getting most of them and resetting unknowingly by chapter selecting....big sad :(
