I followed Montana from way back in his days from the "Chicken Soup" game in the Cotton Bowl , then with the 49'ers. i was very disappointed when the 49ers let him go but remember his last game with them coming in towards the end driving team to a score. I also remember a news video of his little daughter telling a reporter "We're going to Kansas City " is her cute little voice. I to wanted KC to go to the Super Bowl with Montana as their Qb. Thee are some great players than can bring that EXTRA ability out of good to average players by just being on their team & being a true leader. Montana & Allen dis a lot of that with those Chief teams. in my view anyway.
KC was extremely smart to bring the west coast offense along with Montana. Only thing he was missing was youth and offensive talent around him. Allen was the only legit player on offense. No threat at TE or WR and he still got them to the playoffs twice. Almost got them to the super bowl. Pretty incredible.
Somewhat forgotten in everything--this was the first regular season game at Arrowhead to be played on grass. They had artificial turf in their first 22 seasons there.
Living in the Bay Area all my life......NO ONE ever rooted against Joe when he played for the Chiefs. There was a guy who sold hats and shirts that had 16/19 on them....there was a protest of sorts as fans would show up at home games with KC stuff on with their 49er stuff...... didn't matter who we were playing. Steve Young didn't do a great job of dealing with it either....if he had been more relaxed , I think fans would have been more forgiving. But his frustration with the Joe situation was annoying to fans. It wasn't Steve's fault Joe left, but he wasn't helping win fans over with his "Joe's done" attitude. When Steve Bono left, joining KC and Joe.....it made sense to us fans. It sucked seeing Joe with another team. Listening to Brent Jones complain to fans " You need to route for your team, not a player" didn't go over very well either. KC was one game away from the super bowl.......Joe had a tough game, got his bell rung and had his first serious thoughts of retiring....they lost. The defeat in Joe's face was haunting.....but it was time. The fans that went through that healed up.....began to see the 49ers differently, and lightened up on Steve.....even me. As the clock ticked, Steve Young began to finally relax and be himself.....Bono took over the Chiefs QB job and the Niners won another SB. It was an amazing time to be a fan. Not to mention it was an impressionable time for me. I was 17 when they won their first SB in 1982......30 when they won in 1995. At 55, I can say, I'd feel pretty lucky to say they won another one.....pretty lucky indeed.

Here's hoping we see a repeat of this on Sunday!
Montana and Allen were fun to watch together
Montana on playing with a new team. He's still proved the 49ers wrong, he did so good with the chiefs.
i can only imagine if joe and steve met each other again in the super bowl.....would have been on an epic scale of emotions
SUPER BOWL!
Greatest pash rush !
Took too Damn long 25 years too long
Oink Y_ng Beamerz and instead of Bills and Cowboys in 1993 it could’ve been Chiefs and 49ers
Or chiefs cowboys
25 years Later: 49ers Vs Chiefs Super Bowl LIV
Ricky Watters was the perfect West Coast Offense Halfback
I absolutely loved the Fox Football intro music during the 90's... Best ever.

Interesting.... WR Ed McCaffrey wore #89 in this game and later changed to #81 for the rest of the season and DE #95 Richard Dent injured his knee in a pile up late in the 4th quarter and was out for most of the year until the playoffs began. Guard #61 Jesse Sapolu tweaked his hamstring in the game and joined the street clothes Offensive Line posse OT #79 Harris Barton and G #64 Ralph Tamm on the bench.
Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, Will Shields, Derrick Thomas, Neil Smith, and more. What a team. I wonder if they got Andre Rison earlier.
The NFL was initially going to schedule this game as the Monday Night game in Week 1 but decided they wanted both QB's to have a game under their belt first. It was played during the day and given to FOX instead to help establish their football coverage because this was only their second week of doing games. And it worked - the great production showed fans that FOX was serious about the sport.
Man I miss Madden doing commentator
02:38. Am I the only one to hear faintly in the background “Come here Marcus.. Come Here!” lol I’m pretty sure that was one of the 49ers defenders saying that as they chased Marcus Allen down and tackled him lol
Congrats on the early season win, Joe! Will gladly take the SB win every day.
Whos watching ghis before 2024 super bowl?
Marcus Allen and Joe Montana playing on the same team is funny because they played for bitter rivals in college (USC / Notre Dame)
How did that Chiefs team only finish 9-7? They looked unstoppable against the Super Bowl champs.
This was a great game for Montana…he def won the battle on this day, but he didn’t win the war tho, this 9ers team went on to lose this game but won the SUPER BOWL(1994)🎯💯
I found so many similarities from this game to what happened on the Super Bowl LIV last night.
Ima get a lot of hate for this but I think that Joe Montana is better than brady because joe came back and won when it mattered most, also Montana blew out teams in the Super Bowl brady has only blowout was against the Rams though.
Lastly the quarterbacks joe and brady has faced in the super bowl
Joe: Dan Marino John Elway
Brady: Jake Delhome Donavan McNab
But those 49ers defense were great also not taking away from Montana but those defenses had a lot to with it also and Montana never lost in the super bowl either
You also forgot Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan, Jared Goff and Kurt Warner but Ok
@@chandlersbryant4047 the only hall of fame on that list is Kurt Warner
@@neenyweeny5148 so it's Brady's fault That He's only faced 1 Hall of Fame Quarterback in the Super Bowl Vs the 2 Montana Has faced 🤦♂️... Terrible Logic
@@chandlersbryant4047 it's not his fault In fact I respect brady, for me he's #2 all time and Montana is #1
That would of been the ultimate super bowl match up for sure!
RIP Derrick Thomas. Man what a beast! Damn shame
2:39 "Come Here Marcus.. Come here" Faintly in the backround. I think that's 49ers defenders trash talking Marcus Allen so loud it got picked up by a tv microphone lol
I can see why Von used DT as his inspiration, they have the same legendary first step and speed
3:30 "COME HERE MARCUS" LMFAO
San Francisco 49ers was member NFC West division from 1970 through 1993 and Kansas City Chiefs was member AFC West Division from 1970 through 1993 era
The return of natural grass to arrowhead 😍😍😍 so much better than turf
You've been in the Bay your whole life and your moniker is Dodger?
@@thecawdsquad875 If you look at my icon, it's a 48-50 Dodge truck I race at Bonneville. I also race a 72 Charger in circle track. It's not a reference to the Dodgers baseball team. Go Oakland!
Imagine if Montana had another receiver instead of Willie Davis. Each time you post a new game he drops a bunch of easy catches.
3:30 who said "Come here, Marcus!"
A new era for Arrowhead Stadium in 1994. Grass.....and they haven't looked back.
The nostalgic sounds of Summerall & Madden calling a game with multiple hall of famers!
In today’s NFL, there would have been at least 100 flags thrown, mostly for Pass Interference, Roughing the Passer, Targeting, Hitting defenseless receivers, and more.
As a person born in 96, it’s refreshing to see highlights of a game like this
Steve Young would have been put on the sideline for a concussion in the first half these days.
