    It is refreshing to see a young man taking on the responsibilities of fatherhood. That works hard to provide for his family. That takes pride in his work. That works together with his wife. That takes on a journeyman apprentice. This is what the U.S. was once built on.

      I totally agree we need more of this kind of work.

      Skill is TERRIBLY underrated these days !!! With the advent of all the digital "dumbdowns" and the terribly misleading DIY TV programs, the general public is led to believe that skill, and thinking, is no longer needed. The "rude awakening" is coming sooner than anyone thinks as the "skill/thinking" generation begins to retire and they are replaced with all the college educated "genius" button pusher/app users. My son and son-in-law are both in construction and approaching retirement age. I hear the "nightmare" stories related to the "Construction Management" college graduates every time we talk. STAY TUNED !!!! And ------------------ KEEP YOUR TOOLS !!!

    Wow, getting into the lead seam was WAY more than I had expected, I think 99% of folks would leave most of the c-pillar, the door jamb, and even the trunk gutter to make it easier to line everything up. That little voice in the back of your head is the perfectionist, and if there's one thing I learned from my old man it's "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right the first time." Nice-NICE!

    That started to look like my 62 C10 project pretty quick! It is a ton of work, but very rewarding as you near the finish line and get it all back together! Patience and multiple fittings are a must!
    Nice work!

    i actually have the same year/car leaving my shop. the car i worked on , they pulled it out of the mud sitting sideways. Half the car was gone. But i was able to restore the car on the metalwork. i chuckled some when you where trying to fit the quarter panel and also your helper said he rather cut the part on than take the tub off and put it back on.. cause that was exactly what i went thru. Those quarters are tricky to get on for sure, i ended up cutting down the little tab inside the rear window frame/post area to make it easier to fit the quarter, but was still a pain. Youre doing good, keep up the good work ...

    • @RACGARAGE
      @RACGARAGE  Год назад +2

      Yeah haha those quarters are a pain to get on and off for test fitting. We got it though 😆

    Hats off to you guys who know how & got no fear of cutting a car apart & making it right afterwards. My ocd would be so bad Id never be able to finish one piece and it would rot back into the ground lol. THis ones worth bringing back.
    Boxed frame, 4 link is a great setup just the way it is.

    Great Job. Even door to quarter panel and trunk to quarter panel gaps look fantastic for just your first mock up. Looks like your right on the money. 17 when this car was produced. I'll get to live my teenage years through your videos on saving this this early iconic SS Chevelle. 66 thru 71's were the best, especially the LS6 1970. You were born with a gift of learning this craft. Keep up the great work. Watched this video twice. Can always pick up something I missed. Currently completely doing a 57 Chevy 2dr Sedan. So far, all new floor, trunk floor, rockers. Am ready to put passenger quarter on. Thanks for the insentive you give me to keep working on it. Much appreciated.

    I have the same spot welder and found it a bit limited in reach, so I made longer arms with deeper bends, so now its reach is really great. Tip: drill and tap the ends for the tips before bending the arms. Copper rod cost around $30.00.

    I wish I was nearby so I could help and see it finished! I've had several Chevelle's in the past. 1 70 & 3 67's 1 was an SS we called the Yellow Turtle. it had the 396 & 4 speed, with A V gate shifter. Black Diamond tuck Interior. 75 corvette yellow with A little purl. At the time it was the fastest car in town, I loved that car but the cops did'nt. So I had to sell it an take my hotroding to the track. I had several 71 Camaro's so I built my stock car. But that's another story.

    GOOD JOB. to be definitively efficient against rust , you should put grease everywhere. grease is the only thing very efficient against rust. put grease between metal and carpet, inside door, behind metallic bumper, under the vehicle, behind the repairs you can make (everywhere inside the body - hidden erea - instead of using paint), hollow areas (necessarily hidden, so no need to be aesthetic). For rear wings unreachable with a paintbrush, use an extender and pour old oil everywhere each year. Rust almost always comes from the inside and welds. Handyman Experience - 35 years. From france
