Is it worth considering the Intel Arc A770 if you're building a desktop computer in 2024? Well, both yes and no- but there seem to be some identifiable trends that may help you come to a conclusion as to whether or not it's the right card for your machine!
The Intel Arc A770 is a performance segment graphics card launched as a part of their first generation, code-named Alchemist, of discrete graphics cards! Surprisingly though, Intel has been in the GPU business for decades and you have probably experienced one of their GPUs integrated into a CPU. By percentage of devices sold with Intel graphics, they account for the majority of graphics solutions sold per year- however can their mobile expertise translate to the high performance, high power budget desktop discrete market? Well... surprisingly yes and no...
Test System Specs:
- Intel Core i5-13600k, 5.5GHz-P, 4.0GHz-E
- Corsair H150i 360mm AIO
- Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4
- 64GB 3600MT/s G.Skill DDR4
- Various GPUs Discussed
- WDB SN770 1TB PCIe 4.0 for games
- Samsung 970 Evo 1TB PCIe 3.0 for OS/Boot
- 650W EVGA PSU

A GPU is a separate bank of ALUs and FPUs, designed to offload heavily parallelizable calculations from the main CPU onto a dedicated chip. The Graphics Card refers to the entire sub-system, containing the PCB, Memory, and Cooling solution.
Building a Budget PC can be tough. Not only are GPUs and CPUs so incredibly expensive, but they can be hard to find on a budget... But, there are tips and tricks to finding you your dream Budget GPU, and pairing it with a CPU that will give you the performance you want!

If the A750 have 12gb of "VRAM" at least I would buy it but I'll have to go with A770 for future proofing.
a real future proofing would be buying a B770
I got the a750. Overall it's a much more than what I expected it to be. I love it.
The graphics drivers being so new and improving constantly definitely help it be more impressive than thought - The farther along we get the better it gets!

I didn't expect much from it in the first place. What really made it beat my expectations is that, i didn't have much trouble with the drivers in games. No crashes in my games list.
It does however perform horribly in Ghost Recon Wildlands, and some KCD.
But other than that, it gives me smooth gameplay in my other games.
Mostly League of legends, hitman (1), arma 3.
I know there are better cards out there both in performance and price but i chose intel to support them as i want them to succeed.
I recently got the A770 16GB, tried playing an old game and the game recognised the GPU as an intel integrated graphics and the GPU was only running at the base clock of 600Mhz. But in F1 2021, i was able to get a 40 FPS jump compared to my old card (RX580). If you don't need AV1 encode/decode, buying a used RX6700XT or RTX 3060 12GB will definately get you better performance and the A770 on idle is ~45 watts while the RX580 is idling at ~35 watts. The AV1 hardware on the ARC cards works great on Handbrake encoding (~200FPS for 1080p, ~50 FPS for 4K movies)
I played Iron Storm game from 2002 on my Arc 770 16gb, works without problems. I got the card mainly for video editing but in Dying Light 2 with power limit at 130w, 1440 max setting and its working very good even with my weak CPU Ryzen 4500 its okay performance for most games but I will upgrade soon to am5 Ryzen 7500f cause my 4500 wont stand a chance with the newer games and my video editing which will also need a much stronger CPU.
For first run GPUs I would give Intel a thumbs up, yes there’s issues, but tinkering for me is okay as I work on tech for a living. But for the standard end user: whether production or gaming that just wants it to work. These aren’t ready quite yet IMHO.
I love my arc a750 LE, love how the GPU is like aging wine or mead vs losing performance.
Couldn’t agree more!
Good test!
🙂 I like the three fan sparkle video cards
Same. I'm happy they're making ARC cards.
Loving my a750 LE.
You deserve a like for the cute pet at the end!
So glad you didn’t griddy in the Fortnite clip
VUKAN TITLES SHOW THE REAL STRENGTH OF A770 AND ITS 3070 TIER HARDWARE THATS WHY IT WAS SO AHEAD AS IT IS MEANT TO BE BUT DUE TO DRIVERS IT IS STILL PRETTY CLOSE TO 3060 AND 3060TI
i have a a750, makes no sense to get the a770 due to how close in performance they are
The vram is important for me bc I do modeling and game development
@@DAKODA190 Games will also use more and more VRAM and 16gb vram will be a much better choice.
If the LE was still being made I would have sprung for the a770 just because it would be great to have more vram since I’ve rocked a 8gb back in 2018. But recently using a laptop with with a 4gb Gtx 1650ti. 8gb feels game changing.
@@nickg164 Yeah VRAM helps a lot also in the video editing not just gaming.
Indeed, a simple overclock and the A750 is on par with stock A770
😃 yay Guinea Pig
with r5 5600 will it bottlenech a770?
hi please help me choose, rx 6600 or a750
Probably the RX 6600 if you want to just game on your system. The A750 is only really worth it if you’re wanting to experiment with your system
sir cv550w enough for a770?
Nope.
Is My Corsair CV550w PSU Enough For a750?
Definitely!
@@ProceuTech sir cv550w enough for a770?
Yes it is, I’ve used 500W power supplies without issue!
wdym when u say they both arent as strong as a 3060?
In some games the fps they achieve isn’t like what a 3060 can achieve- but in other games it can be equivalent or exceed the 3060 in a lot of cases
This card clearly has the hardware to outperform the 3070. Just the software isn't there yet
Yeah, unfortunately it’s hard to say exactly when the software will improve to that point. They’ve def been making improvements over the past year, but there’s still a long ways to go…
