The fact that Yasuke is in the game doesn't really bug me. I've always liked it when the Assassins Creed series followed history fairly cloae while still maintining the assassins vs templars storyline. Yasuke was a real retainer that had earned the right to wear the katana of a samurai. Hes a badass character that really lived so im cool with it. The problem i have is that i really dont want this game to be Valhalla just in Japan. With the boring combat style and the horrid open world events( i dont think i did a single one during my play through) I thought maybe there was potential for a killer storyline with a clan of Shinobi/ lineal assassins crossover with more of a focus on assassination techniques and open combat being less heavily pushed. But if you can, in fact, play as Yasuke who was a samurai and not a shinobu i am afraid the combat style is gonna be similar to valhalla and the storyline is going to be more generic. But i guess we will have to see
I totally agree the game could be bad but it won’t be because of Yasuke, it sounds like the other protagonist Naeo will very much be a shinobi focused on stealth so we will get both styles. Hopefully they pull it off well and the map isn’t crazy big and empty
@joeysanchez5094 yeah hopefully so. I just wonder how they're gonna handle the character choice. Like if we choose to play the shinobi are we going to have different missions that favor an assassin. Likewise, if we play yasuke do we get different missions more suited to a retainer? I hope that's the case, but I'm kinda worried they might try to put a one size fits all storyline on it so to speak. I guess we will have to wait and see.
@@MuayThaiDude I think jor or someone made a video that explained that while you can play both both in both styles they have differences that make it harder to do so (Yasuke being detected much easier, Naeo being weaker probably health and combat damage)
I think my biggest issue with the modern Assassins Creed franchise is that it doesn't even try to be historically believable anymore, and Ubisoft just uses "but Yasuke was a real historical person!" as a shield to justify the inclusion of Yasuke as the protagonist; we all know the *real* reason Ubisoft made him the protagonist: to crank that DEI score up for the investors. It absolutely is a political choice. Personally I wouldn't have any issues whatsoever with Yasuke as the protagonist if Ubisoft still bothered to actually create a historically authentic setting, but after seeing what an absolute anachronistic unrealistic mess Valhalla was, I have no fate in Ubisoft anymore. Seeing the AC Shadows trailer did nothing to change my stance on that--in fact it reinforced my fears. The way Japan is portrayed in the AC Shadows trailer is just a fantasy trope-y version of what Westerners think Feudal Japan looked like, there is absolutely nothing historic about this trailer aside from the absolute bare basics. At least they got the arms and armours right... for the most part... lets not even talk about Naoe because she is by far the bigger issue. At least Yasuke and his portrayal are historically accurate, I can't say the same for Naoe. Absolutely nothing about her is even remotely authentic or believable.
Ya gotta chill out, majority of games take liberties with the time period they are in, Ghost of Tsushima wasn’t supposed to Katana’s at all because Katana’s weren’t even made during that period, ya want one to one accuracy, but if ya got it ya would hate it, nah I some one agree with the Yasuke being a pawn thing, but I want to see the game play and story before I make any judgements.
@@progamer_otaku6542 Ghost of Tsushima never claimed to be a historical fantasy, though, it was always a Kurosawa movie in video game format, and it absolutely nailed that Kurosawa cinema vibe. Assassins Creed was never historically accurate either, but it was historically authentic and believable. Within the framework of the setting, it worked. The designers of the first 2 games really took "historical authenticity" seriously, they made sure that whenever they broke away from actual history it was done so deliberately and for very specific reasons, not just for DEI points. I can highly recommend watching the 'Overly Sarcastic Productions' videos on the subject matter, it's fascinating to see how much restraint and respect AC1 and AC2 showed for their respective time periods. Sadly, as the series progressed, they showed less and less restraint and the series became more and more anachronistic fantasy. Especially Assassins Creed Valhalla was a massive slap in the face to anyone who's an actual fan of the real Viking history.

Was he full Samurai? We don't know. Was he a retainer? We don't know. The information about this person is extremely limited so a lot of history needs to be guessed at. We also know that women Samurai and Ninja did exist as well, and they existed in this time-period, so again, there were no gender issues when it comes to the other character. Nothing about this game is woke and there's no need to be upset about this. Call out anything woke as long as it's legit.
