Given that Summer was born here, it is understandable that her Hmong is not the best but what I do appreciate is that she at least tries. I know children who don't even understand the simplest words. Some don't even like our traditional foods! So kudos to her for representing our culture and all the beauty that it is. Kudos to the Fung Bros for this episode too! Now, I'mma go eat!
83junji Funny how you mentioned Summer being born here in the United States. I too was born in the United States, and raised in both my traditional and Americanized ways. I speak, read and write along with understand our hmong language and the two dialects fluently. So I hope you know that it all depends on that individual, if they chose to keep their traditions going or chose to go with what American society has to offer. They can do both but it can become difficult at times. 😊

I am glad you guys did an episode on Hmong food. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as "Hmong food". Hmong live all over the world and we learn to adapt and put a spin on various cuisines. If you want real home cooked Hmong food, go to a traditional Hmong family gathering. You will see boiled chicken, boiled pork with greens and boiled beef. Traditional Hmong food isn't fried rice or noodles. If you go to a Hmong sports tournament or new year, you will see grilled chicken leg quarters, Hmong sausages and pork belly. You can also find that type of food at a local Hmong store. Anyways, enjoyed the video and the beautiful Summer Rose! :)

I was shocked when you said Hmong people don't have their own country. China is not a country just for the Han Chinese, it's for all the 56 ethnicities that live within it.
Hey Summer. Where did you find the group picture of the ladies wearing Hmong clothes with the white background? Those are my cousins and we found out after watching the video.
The thing about Hmong in Minnesota and Hmong in California is that in Minnesota they aren't spread out, In Minnesota we stick together in neighboroods and we have our own marketplaces but In California Hmong people are spread out that's why you don't see them that often.

Wow, I'm surprise that there are a lot of haters here criticizing the girl's ability to speak Hmong and the food. She speaks green Hmong dialect and her level of speech is better than some Hmong people here in the US. Also Hmong food in general is very vast depending on the location of where the Hmong people and families settled in. There are many different types of Hmong food bc the Hmong cuisine adapts to the environment and other cultural influences that impact their livelihood while immigrating and being persecuted. The Hmong cuisine in China is different compared to the Hmong cuisine in Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, France, and the US. honestly, stop putting others down. whether he or she can speak fluent or not. we all are human. hmong or not, we are not perfect. we all learn. be happy and proud that we the hmong people finally made it on a popular Asian RUclips. I'm glad that fungbro made it happen and reached out to the hmong community. Thank You FungBro....
i'm superduper happy that this video exists because communities like mine (those that are marginalized and are lower in population) feel validated. Just wanted to point out that a lot of the dishes featured however were influenced from Chinese/Southeast Asian cuisine. I'll admit that we eat these dishes a lot so over time they have incorporated into our diet and are accepted as "Hmong food", but if I could strip our cuisine down to a bare minimum, I'd say our food is simple, earthy and rustic. We cook with whatever we can find whether that be from the jungle or the garden in our backyards. Some dishes that I'd say are signature to the Hmong are pork stewed with mustard greens, chicken stewed with tofu and mint, dried beef stewed with sour bamboo shoots, and spicy squirrel porridge.
Most Hmong people migrated to the south to go to Laos, Thailand and Vietnam and got their recipes and made them. So that’s why it’s considered a Hmong dish (But it kinda isn’t) My mother was from Vietnam and my father is Hmong so then they met in America and made me (heheheh) but my mom made pho, kapong and papaya salad and shared it with other Hmong people to enjoy. So basically it is a Hmong food. (Sorry I know this is long Af and you wasted 5 min reading this.)
Yes! I was waiting for this to show up. At least she got some peppers (though it isn't smashed in a mortar/pestle). Also, I drink boiled squash or scooped up cucumber with sugar not the fancy stuff they're drinking. There is Hmong food, they're just very plain and comes straight from the farm to the table.
That's Hmong food influenced by America. Authentic Hmong food id say is different. Foods such as freshly killed chicken soup with herbs, squirrel and pigeon soup, fresh boiled offal with the bile are the best.
I'm Hmong and I'm so happy you made this video! There's still sooooo much more Hmong food to try, even more traditional ones, so I'd encourage you to try more!!!! Love y'all!
Omg thank you guys so much for doing this episode on Hmong food because there usually no recognition for our culture... I felt so happy to see this episode!! THANK YOU! Loved it and thnx again!😄👍

Damn hmong people give the girl a break. Yeah she needs to improve her hmong but that's not the point of the video. Jeremy Lin can't speak his native tongue well but I don't see constant comments about it.
Where have you been all these years? We have been recognized in Gran Torino and all other tv shows before this crappy food youtube who stars a hmong girl that can't even speak Hmong and gave a terrible excuse why couldn't speak it.
She is clearly very ignorant of Hmong culture. These are not Hmong food. Don't just go around calling Southeast Asian dishes, Hmong Food because they are not.
I never heard if hmong until i watched this girl name fei do 100 layers of lip tints, i went to check the comments and someone said she was hmong so i was curious on what hmong was. Before i die, id like to eat some of their foods😋
As far as food goes, you ain't missin out much. The stuff you just saw in this video would make old Hmong people scratch their heads. They never saw anything like that outside of Chinese restaurants. Where's the pumpkin broth?
While I love and appreciate the effort, these aren't authentic Hmong dishes, they're dishes that we've adopted from other cultures/countries we've lived in. The same way we've adopted pho, laarb, papaya salads, etc. Authentic Hmong dishes would be salted pork & mustard greens soup, steamed chicken seasoned w/salt & pepper (or was that covered here? Too lazy to go back to confirm:), or a chicken soup w/salt & pepper and lemon grass. Nonetheless, A for effort! :)
Nice vid ... And to all my Hmong friends at Cali ... Thanks , and to the new years celebrations , which i was part of , even when i didn't know what was going on ... Many thanks guys ... you are awesome
The food is not really real traditional hmong food, more of a modern-american hmong food. I suggest fung bros and richie try real hmong food like kua quav iab nyuj (Hmong beef menudo), laj nyuj (raw beef larb), nqaij npua thiab zaub ntsuab (pork and greens), ntshav ciaj (hmong tiet canh), ncuas (hmong mochi), nyuv ntxwv (hmong sausage), and kees (hmong curry).
Jee Papeterie ooh, is there a large population of hmong people from laos? my "laotian" friends well not sure what they are now, but i do know they are from laos, when we used to have msn, their emails were like "hmong_pride" or "hmong_boyz4life", so i always thought hmong is how u say laotian, kinda like how khmai means cambodian
Hmong People in general doesn't have a country keep that in mind. For Laotian or Lao people are from Laos. There is a great population of Hmong people in Laos dude to the fact that they migrated there from China long ago. Now may I ask what are your friend's last name so i can determine which ethic group are they from?
Hmong are Miaoyao speakers. Lao are Tai-kadaic speakers. historically, both are very different. the Hmong are closer to Han Chinese both culturally, philosophically, spiritually and so forth due to long contact with Han Chinese.
A disgrace she can't even speak correct Hmong words. At least practice it before recording it. She simply just made up some words for the Hmong food. Smh
No need to be so sour. Her Hmong may be poor but that doesn't really matter. Hmongs just adapted so well to America that most of us kinda lacked accent of our own language.
Ahhh as a Hmong person I am super happy we are getting noticed! Though yea this video is 4 years ago, I’m still quite glad! HA A FEAST EVERY WEEKEND IS SO ACCURATE
Outstanding. We have a substantial Hmong community in Northwest Arkansas too. I'm glad I watched this as now I am going to several Hmong restaurants. Looks so delicious. Must expand my cuisine experiences as well as my tummy.
All the Hmong people that are saying this is not Hmong food truly don’t know Hmong food or have never eaten with their grandparents and great grandparents. Kao poon, papaya salad, laab, nam vam etc are not Hmong food. Those are Lao food adopted by Hmong. This is more Hmong than chief Yia Vang.
I am Hmong and I have had only like half of that food. I live in Minnesota so I know what it taste like. But I am so happy they actually talked about us the Hmong people
The most traditional hmong meals are boiled pork with veggies, boiled chicken, uncooked chicken blood mix with shredded boiled chicken, home made ground beef larb, and so many other stuff. You dont see that at the store but only see that mostly at family reunion, funeral or shaman day.
fung bro next time ask me! this is not really hmong food! only a few were only. you guys are missing much more than this! you haven't even tried the best hmong food yet! plus I can totally speak hmong fluently. I almost couldn't understand what she said in hmong no offense lol
+marc_12 No, her food really does not look like Hmong food at all, and her usage of the Hmong language is incorrect. It's like going to get Pho, but then they instead give you Alfredo noodles, and it comes with a peanut sauce.
Here in Fresno CA the Association of the US Army works with The Hmong Veterans Assn. and I've been to several of the Hmong Veterans Association Dinners. I loved the food.
is she full hmong? She looks half.. way too pretty to be full. N i understood her hmong lol notice all the ones tryin to hate are GIRLS (obvious jealousy)
She can't speak Hmong well and she is a Christian and true Hmong people believe in shamanism so she not a true Hmong and most of the food ain't even traditional Hmong food its just regular Asian food!!!

honestly, stop putting others down. whether he or she can speak fluent or not. we all are human. hmong or not, we are not perfect. we all learn. be happy and proud that we the hmong people finally made it on a popular Asian RUclips. I'm glad that fungbro made it happen and reached out to the hmong community.
Thank You FungBro....
Summer is beautiful!😍
+pandajebiah and I love the way she speaks ..very soft-spoken.
+joe kevin Don't make this weird.
She is and her voice is so soothing
I wouldn't kick Summer out of bed.
dafuq are u saying ? 🔫🔫
FINALLY!!! I'm hmong btw ^.^
KELVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+JB Timbol yo :)
i'm superduper happy that this video exists because communities like mine (those that are marginalized and are lower in population) feel validated.
Who cares if her Hmong is not that good. All I care is that they even paid attention enough to do a video :D propssss
malibuisawesome
And her mom for cooking all the food. That takes effort!
Exactly!
What about Pho or Kapong or papaya salad. So much more.
I know pho is Vietnamese food butt the hmong version is a little different. Hmong food is practically a mix of viet, or Thai
Kaopong is not a hmong dish. Its part of the Lao culture.
Tifa Lockhart that's true
Tifa Lockhart its just other ethinc food but we just eat it
Most Hmong people migrated to the south to go to Laos, Thailand and Vietnam and got their recipes and made them.
No boiled pig with zaub?😂😂😂
That's the only authentic hmong dish
Equatix That's what I'm saying!!! That's #1 Hmong food!!!!
Equatix thats some og shitt👌🏻😂
With some peppers
Damn! Do more videos with Summer! Great to see Fung Bros collaborate with Hmong people! And it's great to understand what they're saying!
Thank you guys for FINALLY making a video of Hmong food.
That's Hmong food influenced by America.
Authentic Hmong food id say is different. Foods such as freshly killed chicken soup with herbs, squirrel and pigeon soup, fresh boiled offal with the bile are the best.
I'm Hmong, I definitely enjoyed watching this video. Keep it up.
I'm Hmong and I'm so happy you made this video! There's still sooooo much more Hmong food to try, even more traditional ones, so I'd encourage you to try more!!!! Love y'all!
awww... forgot the boiled pork and greens! that stuff is the best!
if u go to Minnesota and go to hmong village there's a lot hmong Food
Minnesota and Fresno got all the Hmong people though
Hmong village is bomb
+Pajris Lee omg yess lol
yeah! I been there with my family! AND IT WAS SO GOOD!!!
OMG FIIIIIIIIIIINAAAAALLLLYYYYY!!! A VIDEO ABOUT MY PEOPLE'S FOOD!!!!!!!!!!
BTW her hmong was terrible. Like... I don't even speak too much hmong but I'm pretty sure that mine is 10x better than hers :////
+dumplings1997 sure...
Your pronunciation of 'see you soon' has me in tears
Omg thank you guys so much for doing this episode on Hmong food because there usually no recognition for our culture... I felt so happy to see this episode!! THANK YOU! Loved it and thnx again!😄👍
Home girl don't even know how to speak Hmong. Lol
Those are the types of hmong people.
Are you Hmong? If you aren't SHUT THE FUCK UP!
Nathan Yang
Koj Hais Rau Nws Loj?
Connor X agreed lol.
She knows just her pernouciation is a bit off. She speaking that hmonglish lol. 😄
Rice in boiled pumpkin is traditional! So good!
Thank You so much for doing Hmong food been waiting long time for a Hmong food video 😀
I'm Hmong and I'm laying in bed laughing to myself. I LOVE how you guys pronounced the phrases. They were actually pretty close!👍👍 Pronounciation on point👌👌😂 I'n also glad you guys made this video possible😙😙❤
Damn hmong people give the girl a break. Yeah she needs to improve her hmong but that's not the point of the video. Jeremy Lin can't speak his native tongue well but I don't see constant comments about it.
I think the Hmong language died on this very date 😂😂😂
Come to Saint Paul, MN for Hmong Food, we have a whole Hmong Village and HmongTown for you guys to try Hmong Food. :)
This is legit awesome! Those noodles look delicious and I love how I get to learn about a new culture
omg! omg! omg! omg! i clicked this video so fast when i saw it. so proud of the hmong people! thank you fungbros for doing this. love all of you guys.
yayyyyyy finally we r noticed and i love being HMONG YAYYY kuv yog hmong
Where have you been all these years? We have been recognized in Gran Torino and all other tv shows before this crappy food youtube who stars a hmong girl that can't even speak Hmong and gave a terrible excuse why couldn't speak it.
She is clearly very ignorant of Hmong culture. These are not Hmong food. Don't just go around calling Southeast Asian dishes, Hmong Food because they are not.
well these are actually hmong, ur properply living in laos or something bro?
UnknownMasksW2serialirious I agree with Neon Chang.
Neon Chang how about you shut the fuck up and sit in a corner
TxoojTuam Thoj your built like patrick star and you are just rude. you look like me krab
I'm Hmong and they were talking the 2nd dialect, Green! Love and miss Hmong food so much
I never heard if hmong until i watched this girl name fei do 100 layers of lip tints, i went to check the comments and someone said she was hmong so i was curious on what hmong was. Before i die, id like to eat some of their foods😋
Then i went to search up hmong and found this video***
Fei is hmong ?
Yes, Fei is Hmong.
As far as food goes, you ain't missin out much. The stuff you just saw in this video would make old Hmong people scratch their heads. They never saw anything like that outside of Chinese restaurants. Where's the pumpkin broth?
Fung Bros, come to my house in Minnesota. my mom and I will feed you guys other main hmong dishes.
I'm Hmong and thanks for showing love to the Hmong culture Fungbros and Riche le.
I thought Richie moves to Seattle
Same
+Smerky This was prefilmed before he felt probably
+Smerky and he's looking good to- and no i'm not gay
She's a really pretty Hmong girl. Very rare.
+sage yang - yeah with all that makeup she is pretty.
But Brenda song is hot too
+minighi200 she sure in the hell is.
+sage yang Very rare? there are so many pretty hmong girls
she truly is very pretty
Summer and her mother are soooo beautiful .
Awesome! So glad to that someone finally make a video like this! 😁 Ua tsaug! (Thank you!)
The food is not really real traditional hmong food, more of a modern-american hmong food. I suggest fung bros and richie try real hmong food like kua quav iab nyuj (Hmong beef menudo), laj nyuj (raw beef larb), nqaij npua thiab zaub ntsuab (pork and greens), ntshav ciaj (hmong tiet canh), ncuas (hmong mochi), nyuv ntxwv (hmong sausage), and kees (hmong curry).
Some foods you mentioned are not Hmong foods either lol like laj (larb), curry, Hmong sausage? Nope they aren't Hmong foods.
+Peter Yang I guess we'll just go back to all the intestines, boil chicken with herbs, and rice cake.
+Peter Yang its more hmong than whatever was served on the video thats for sure.
+Peter Yang what about dog?
Agreed! I was watching this and was like where's the sticky rice and larb, kapoong and ko piaj.
so wait, hmong people and laotian people are different?
i actually don't know, i am asking.
i can feel the negative comments coming already...
+Nyctophiliac C Yes, Hmong and Laotians are different. :)
+Jee Papeterie way different
Hmong right here!🙋 excited yall did this☺👍👍👍👏👏👐
How does FungBros have attractive (and only attractive) female friends from all parts of Asia lol
A disgrace she can't even speak correct Hmong words. At least practice it before recording it. She simply just made up some words for the Hmong food. Smh
dude
shut the hell up -_-
I know I can't speak good Hmong but who care? it don't make a different
see thses are the ppl my teach talk about -_-
+Kristi V Why does it matter to you? This is rude.
No need to be so sour. Her Hmong may be poor but that doesn't really matter. Hmongs just adapted so well to America that most of us kinda lacked accent of our own language.
Stop being a pathetic traditionalist. No wonder Hmongs don't progress, always fight over petty shit.
Ahhh as a Hmong person I am super happy we are getting noticed! Though yea this video is 4 years ago, I’m still quite glad! HA A FEAST EVERY WEEKEND IS SO ACCURATE
come to Minnesota. Contains more Hmong people compared to other states.
I'm Hmong and telling u RN when I eat I had to eat rice with anything my mom cooked for me #Ricelife🍚
Anime Manga same
VLover 1 yep
Happy that you guys finally tried the Hmong dish! Love your videos!
She's so cutee
I'm hmong and I love being hmong
Outstanding. We have a substantial Hmong community in Northwest Arkansas too. I'm glad I watched this as now I am going to several Hmong restaurants. Looks so delicious. Must expand my cuisine experiences as well as my tummy.
All the Hmong people that are saying this is not Hmong food truly don’t know Hmong food or have never eaten with their grandparents and great grandparents. Kao poon, papaya salad, laab, nam vam etc are not Hmong food. Those are Lao food adopted by Hmong. This is more Hmong than chief Yia Vang.
Hmong girls are fine, wooow even the mom's gorgeous and she's prolly already nearing her 50's decievingly lookin like she's in her 30's
shit! are you a perv?
I'm sorry!
I'm lowkey perv but not disrespectful =)
damn thank you! ;)
My Face is Rose's Seat Warmer lmaooo thank you((:
TWICE Train thx but I'm an ugly potato
I am Hmong and I have had only like half of that food. I live in Minnesota so I know what it taste like. But I am so happy they actually talked about us the Hmong people
Her Hmong was not on point at all...
KabouasLife could I ask which dialect you speak in?
im hmong but hohoho dont eat chicken feet xD
So sweet! I love seeing the Hmong food and hope you get invited to one of the weekly feasts! What a fun tradition.
She's beautiful and she can cook! Oh my if one of y'all don't wife her up real quick....
She didn't do the cooking. Her mom did. It was said in the video. She did the dishes. Lol
+April Vang Nyab $600
+kungwuman27 she probably can't even boil water for noodles.
Summer doesn't seem fully Hmong. Or maybe she doesn't speak Hmong often, cus her pronounciation sounds a bit off.
she is ABG
haha i had to rewind it a couple time but still couldn't catch it
+Ze Yang ?
The most traditional hmong meals are boiled pork with veggies, boiled chicken, uncooked chicken blood mix with shredded boiled chicken, home made ground beef larb, and so many other stuff. You dont see that at the store but only see that mostly at family reunion, funeral or shaman day.
fung bro next time ask me! this is not really hmong food! only a few were only. you guys are missing much more than this! you haven't even tried the best hmong food yet! plus I can totally speak hmong fluently. I almost couldn't understand what she said in hmong no offense lol
are u mad that ur better than her ?
+marc_12 Yea lol Kidding. I just wish she could have done better. she is missing so much more than this!.
+marc_12 No, her food really does not look like Hmong food at all, and her usage of the Hmong language is incorrect. It's like going to get Pho, but then they instead give you Alfredo noodles, and it comes with a peanut sauce.
+Beauty by April sry but you have to be pretty to be in a FungBro video lol u wouldnt make the cut
I agree she couldn't even pronounced the food correctly I could of done better myself....
haha, she didn't cook any of it....figures.
Haha...enjoyed watching it. Keep up the good work and fun!
I'm Hmong Nyob Zoo
do mongolian food
Here in Fresno CA the Association of the US Army works with The Hmong Veterans Assn. and I've been to several of the Hmong Veterans Association Dinners. I loved the food.
This is not authentic Hmong food lol. You need to go to a poor Hmong family to eat real Hmong food. Lol
is she full hmong? She looks half.. way too pretty to be full. N i understood her hmong lol notice all the ones tryin to hate are GIRLS (obvious jealousy)
FUNG BRO ON HMONG FOOD... DIDNT SEE TAT ONE COMING ..( YOU GUYS ARE EPIC BRO.. THUMB UPS!!!... :).
She can't speak Hmong well and she is a Christian and true Hmong people believe in shamanism so she not a true Hmong and most of the food ain't even traditional Hmong food its just regular Asian food!!!
Anthony Hang that's true...
How come you so jealous of her!
I appreciate her showing what Hmong is but supposedly, the original Hmong food we eat are boiled chicken and boiled pork/beef.
I'm hmong and I'm happy to see THEFUNGBROS doing a video on hmong food. There's just one thing I would say...I wish there was the traditional hmong dish that they do during weddings only with ginger and pork and all that good stuff. But overall I love it! I especially love how Summer and her mom Pang spoke in hmong green because hmong green is harder to speak and pretty rare nowadays. I'm a Hmong green too! Thanks for making this video! You guys spoke hmong green good! ^-^
