The random Sakuga with the doctor working the machine and Shigaraki falling down was so random but amazing
Edit: Also Shigaraki didn't hae the Og AFO the whole time. Part of the surgery was giving Shigaraki the original AFO quirk

Dabi is about to turn Hawks into an overcooked chicken. I personally believe that Dabi does care about the League. He claims he doesn't and that he's all about Stain. But there was a time when the League was down in the dumps with no money or support before the Doctor reached out or MVA happened. The group no longer had anything to do with Stain. Yet Dabi still decided to stay. AFO in jail, no financial support, and no one upholding Stain's ideals seems like the perfect time to bail. But he didn't. I think Dabi definitely cares about his dreams more than he cares about other people, but he definitely cares somewhat. The anime cut out a line of him being angry at Hawks for saying Twice had an unhappy life. This was inner monologue, so Dabi definitely wasn't lying.
I like how last episode, Fatgum was like, "We don't have to worry about Gigantomachia. Shigaraki's asleep."
Then that boy literally rose from the dead because of his dream. Which ironically sounds like something that would happen to a hero. The villain would normally push them to their limits before they have some sort of inner monologue and flashback in their head. Then they come back with a renewed spirit. But Horikoshi loves to take common tropes and have the villains use it instead. And now, it's *his* turn
It's just a visual thing but I like the idea that Deku's Vestige world was really dark and gloomy. But Shigaraki's is really bright but fragmented.
I think his family appearing sort of represents his inner consciousness. The desire he had as a child to become a hero. All of his family, even his father, is trying to keep him away from AFO. And it makes me think back to his monologue during MVA. Where he thinks, if anyone besides AFO had reached out to him, maybe the itching he had would've stopped. Both tragedy and destruction made him into who he is. And now he's going to inflict that on the world.

Dabi is the one with high expectations of the members to fulfill roles in mind. And he extends to what is useful. He has a significant grasp of right and wrong and never seems confused. Let’s do a little recap of this “Dabi” guy. We don’t know who he is or what his exact goals are. We know that he likes Stain’s goal of taking out “fake heroes” which explains his weird fascination with Endeavor, but it’s clear he has his own ideas in mind.
Also Hawks is definitely familiar with his name at the very least, so that’s something. And Dabi’s whole “I don’t care about anything other than my goals” is a hard thing to go off of, since his actions have more or less shown him to be more conflicted. There’s a lot more to this guy beyond what he says verbally.
And also, on the subject of Hawks, what’s interesting is that what the government did to him is scarily similar to what All for One did to Shigaraki, but we’ll find out more about Hawks’s background later.

Alright we had our hearts broken last time with a truly terrifying and tear inducing death scene, this time? We strip down the mountaintop of our idols.
And what better way to start with Tokoyami talking from HIS perspective of the #2 Hero. This entire show we’ve seen hero after hero just seen as invincible people so long as they don’t land a bad rock paper scissors match up. Tokoyami near fruitlessly chasing after someone who can do pretty much anything. And RIGHT when he finishes speaking his praises, his training of chasing his now boss pays off. And he spots Hawks leap ahead of the blue flames as he goes to finish Dabi and Twice. And that’s all he needs with what little he knows.
On the flip side Hawks has spent what little he could pull off against Twice and Dabi. His choice to have Twice in an easy to find location backfired as out of the way as he was, and since Dabi found him, his back is LITERALLY getting lit up. Twice is off the table now, but his trouble has doubled nonetheless. I mentioned finding Hawks name is akin to finding an undercover FBI agent. In this SPECIFIC case? It’s finding the name of a boy raised by the government TO BE an FBI agent with all the powers and skills to match. And SOMEHOW someone with as much information as Hawks would have at his disposal, couldn’t find a TRACE of who Shigaraki OR Dabi are. (So All-Might and Gran Torino DID keep Shigaraki’s identity hushed in the OFA inner circle.) This individual called Dabi is clearly unrecognizable to Hawks. And just to taunt, Dabi decides yeah I WILL say my name with an honest to god smile on his face. In the manga? I think the speech bubble is behind a pillar of some kind. In here? Regardless of Japanese or English so long as you know his name, you can read his lips. He DEFINITELY said his name. And that is an 11/10 jump to blindside those that don’t know and don’t have a clue, and also just makes that scene have 10x the impact when you come back and know.
Dabi doesn’t just get his taunt in, whatever the name is, it’s a significance to Hawks. The mere utterance makes Hawks even MORE scared than a man literally standing on top of him with his absolute quirk weakness. Dabi holds no allegiance to ANYONE in the league, the paranormal liberation front, none of them. (At least in terms of their goals. He seems to care more than he lets on here.) They just further what he wants. And he brings back an absolute of Stain’s philosophies. Stain had a bit of a better understanding in what he does with specific aim to mitigate crime rates by targeting vain and greedy heroes to put the more proper heroes to be put on high alert. (Y’know, for a stronger society) Not a bad plan, but his execution of said plan was what turned him into a proper villain. Situation to situation could change his approach but he never stopped with one. Put them in fight or flight mode, then judge once. Dabi doesn’t bother with any of the intricacy. Just judge the heroes as guilty, and finish the job. And he now sees Hawks as a tool that is just simply “no longer useful.” I don’t think for a SECOND he was saddened by the death of Twice. That’s NOT the face of sorrow regardless of his tear duct situation.
We’re back at the lab finally! Endeavor and Aizawa have FINALLY wrapped up their business on the main floor and are now met with Crust and Chubs. Chubs literally eating Crust’s shield and the other heroes on scene don’t have enough firepower. Not until Endeavor and Aizawa. And I think we’re already 4 or 5 jetburns into this whole ordeal. Endeavor has a stamina issue and can’t go all out without being backed into doing so.
And we’re FINALLY back to Mirko and her 1v4. No bell is rung, she’s going armless. And her mental fortitude to recognize through adrenaline rushes, fight/flight, and all the high tier movement needed for this battle that she’s moving JUST AS FAST as she did at the beginning and recognize THEY are getting faster and stronger. That’s just crazy. And she says she thinks the beasts have fully awakened but let’s call this stage 1 awakened. 12 hours or so is what they need to be fully awakened. They couldn’t be up for more than 10 minutes tops. These things are just THAT high leveled. Guess that goes without saying trying to match the specs of Season 1 All-Might. Mirko makes a run for it, gets her ankle chomped, hair ripped off, SEVERAL stab wounds, and she STILL keeps going. Got properly through the leg? NOPE. She’s STILL not done and manages to crack what must be a FOOT thick of tempered glass floor to ceiling. (Let’s just maximize aquarium glass thickness because heroes are ridiculous and Mirko is simultaneously fighting High Ends) And based on the doctor’s size? That’s like a 30 foot chamber filled with liquid. That is CRAZY.
Endeavor, Aizawa, Mic, and everyone else is trying to put these High Ends down COMPLETELY and even while they are ERASED they still aren’t going down. It’s not just their quirks but their bodies for practically every environment. Layers and layers of extra bone and muscles. We saw the results of that at the USJ. No quirk shock absorbtion (not nullification), they take sun fire remarkably well, and the more time they spend around their opponents the more they learn and the more powerful they get. And in this purple lit laboratory, what you’re most likely seeing are just their silhouettes. Which is TERRIFYING.
The longer this fight goes, the more these creatures wake up and protect the innermost sanctum of this laboratory, the more desperate this fight becomes, you can feel every second of the clock winding down. Endeavor is pinned doing 1st aid on Mirko AND fighting the most complete of the high ends. Aizawa can’t walk away from the 3 he has pinned. (Also before it looks like he’s flying but one of the quirks of the side heroes was “physical enhancement” with Saber and laser so I think that’s a boosted jump) 70%…73%…75%. Stopped the clock. Garaki is forced to the wall. He can’t eke out anymore time as much as he’s gotten. Time to awaken the true beast of them all. Mic jumps in and shatters the chamber. Shigaraki flops on the ground uselessly.
Mic is not satisfied and immediately goes to insure he’s not a double. They all know he’s not by now. Mic needs this to be personal now. He knows this is the man who tore apart Shirakumo to make him Kurogiri. And right when you think this man can’t get anymore repulsive…he happily taunts the haunting ghost of the scene that took Shirakumo’s life. They weren’t looking for a cloud quirk to infuse with other quirks. They were looking for the quirk that is among the BIGGEST THREATS to AFO. Erasure. Needless to say, but had this been successful, it’s an instant game over. And speaking of ghosts…he revealed his research to Shigaraki at the finale of last season. But this time? It gives us the deep pit of the history of AFO’s lifespan. Garaki is over 120, and AFO is somewhere close to 200 years old. And they’ve both thoroughly left behind humanity to be something else. Truly revolting beings as the final secret is laid bare.
Shigaraki has long since been the successor for AFO. But considering AFO still lives and the nature of HIS quirk, Shigaraki gaining this seemed impossible and separate. But the Nomu projects, and nearly every villain encounter has paved the way for this last experiment. Shigaraki becoming capable to hold the quirk All For One and everything with it. The REASON Garaki told Shigaraki of OFA. Was for this awakening. You’d need the will to wake up from the dead to do that. And what would you have it, the shattering past of Tenko bubbles to the surface within the shattered vestige realm of AFO. And Shigaraki said it himself in Season 5. These are no longer necessary. Walking away from the inner child he once was and shoving aside the family that held him back…including the most terrifying presence of them all. Not the fearful presence of his father. But the one that he should NOT hear. He should NOT see. As the hand on his head belongs to his long deceased grandmother Nana Shimura. And it’s as if he has a full understanding of what her will was. She SHOULD NOT be there and here she exists. But he decays all his concerns away, and he truly completes his deal with the devil. And he accepts the massive vestige of his master. Awakening his willpower, the very fuel of AFO, and arises from the dead.
Allow me to introduce you to Tomura Shigaraki. The newest holder of All For One. Time is up.

"Twice is off the table now, but his trouble has doubled nonetheless" Hold up!! His writing is *this fire???*
Dabi is such an interesting character, i think his care for the League has more to do with what they can offer but i don't think that's the full extent of it either, there are things like high-fiving Twice or saying it's not his fault in an inner monologue that one would argue are unnecessary. If i had to bring up an example from another work, i think he's pretty similar to Doflamingo from One Piece, both of them are antagonists with an unknown background for a decent chunk of their screen time, they have a family of misfits that they are on good terms with and help to the point of even being offended on their behalf, but it feels like they only get that treatment because they can help further their own agendas.
Diving into spoilers for both shows: -Dabi and Doflamingo being failed by their real families is likely why they stick to their newfound "families" even when their actual attachment is more beneficial than sentimental. Neither of them showed much remorse when one of their family members died (un)funnily enough, or in Doflamingo's case, killed with his own hands. As much as i prefer to believe otherwise, Dabi's behavior is pretty similar to Doffy's, their dream team lies in a bunch of misfits who wholeheartedly believe they are being cared for and will in exchange do everything in their power to help them reach their goals. Dabi's actions feel more manipulative than anything else, especially when we see his reaction to Twice's death, but then you have stuff like his convo with Toga in season 7 where there's arguably no reason to do this anymore, Toga already had enough motivation to go to war and use Jin's blood, Dabi burning her house in a way felt more genuine considering his past and that he is preparing himself for his own death-
I like to believe Dabi cares about the League to some extent (no more than he cares about his goals), but it's really hard to say whether this is really the case which is brilliant imo. Horikoshi nailed making Dabi as mysterious and vague as he could even when we get to know more about him later, which makes for some fun discussions.

I thought it was interesting aee how Shigaraki sees myself when he interacted with the memories of his family. When he saw his sister, he was still an adult, as if to indicate that he doesn't harbor any bad feelings towards her for telling their dad about the picture. He regressed to a child when he saw his mom to show that he felt like he could be vulnerable to her and when he saw his dad, he reverted back to when he killed him to show that his hated for him is still there
