  • The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has officially shifted its involvement in the CRAIC CR929 program from being a joint-venture partner to assuming the role of a key supplier.
    The declaration came during an interview with Yury Slyusar, the Chief Executive Officer of UAC whilst at the global military-technical event "Army-2023,"

    I think it's not because of the sanctions, but it could be because of they are focusing in their own next generation IL96 with dual engine instead.

      Due to Ukraine War related sanctions, Russia completely loss the European trade . China step in , and basically replaced Russia's loss business with Europe.

    Given current events, they should probably dual-source components like engines and avionics so they can supply the aircraft either side of sanctions.

      Any currently available modern engines would have to be RR or GE for widebody. China is trying to develop its own engines but that is least decade or two off.

      @@CubicSpline7713 China is nowhere close to self sufficiency in Aviation and they know it. All of COMAC aircraft rely very heavily on Western suppliers. Engines, avionics, design etc.

    Unrelated question. Does Aeroflot fly previously leased aircraft that were appropriated by Russia, on their flights to Turkey? If so, why aren't the aircraft confiscated in Turkey? I don't know if these are facts, I'm curious to know.

      No. They only fly them internally.

      Russia only uses aircraft they own outright on international flights, the leased aircraft that they stole only fly domestic

    The backstory was that Russia pulled out because due to the sanctions, there wasn't enough wood imported from northern Europe to run the jet engines of the CR929.

    there were no engines for this. Russia does not have the capital to do it all. Better to focus on the MC21. It was always going to play out this way.
