What an awesome video! I still have some of the old memorabilia pins and such when my Uncle took my sister and I there for the first time in 1983. Fast forward a few years and I found myself there again but this time on a pit crew 358 class #71 Louis Bray. I still remember the racing lawyer...Flack and Barefoot Bob McCreedy. And of course Kenny Tremont. Great memories! Thank you for sharing such a great piece of history.
At 8:10 is the #50 Red and White Gremlin owned by Leto Bros Construction. My Dad worked for Joe Leto in the 70`s. My brother and i got to sit in that car. I live in Az. now. Don`t think i`ll ever see that race track again. Wonderful tribute snooch77. Don`t feel so far from home now :D
This is my local dirt track. Been going there since I was 3 years old. Great to see old footage of it. I hope New York State doesn’t destroy it like Syracuse.
My father first took me and my brothers to Lebanon Valley around 1959. I still have some black & white photos from back then. I remember the Yellow X, Butch Jelley, Doug Garrison, Dexter Dorr, Stretch van Steenburgh (an old Dutch name in an area full of Dutch names) and the starter standing on the track and waving the flags, jumping up wildly. Oh, those were the days.
THE MONK YES = SAW HIM AT WEEDSPORT / ALSO AT FULTON (ASPHALT) / LOVED IT WALKING AROUND PITS IN SWEAT SHIRT NO HELMET ( THATS WHY HE WAS CALLED THE MONK / ALSO AT FULTON HE ALWAYS HAD THAT DOBERMIN DOG /LOVED IT / MEMS OF LATE 1960"S
No shit! From what i understand he was a great man. I didnt know him but my father and great uncle, who raced the valley and other tracks have some wild stories lol.
"The Shoe" drove the M80 Modified, which I was on the pit crew in '66, '67 when on leave from the USMC. Unfortunately, I wasn't around when he drove it, but I know he won at least one race with it, probably at Fonda. I saw a photo of, I think, the M80 in a lineup of an open comp race at Lebanon Valley, in 1967. I don't know who was driving, wouldn't have been Ken, tho, as I believe he drove it in later years. RIP, Kenny Shoemaker.

so good to see Butch Jelly and his Yellow X.
The X was Doug Garrison in his crossfire ford. Butch Jelly had the Y with the little devil on the side.
