my God. what a song. what memories. The year was 1998, 20 years ago to the day maybe. I was in grade 3. They made us sing this song as part of our music class! What names, Benny Mccathy, Mark Fish, Radebe, Dr Kumalo. The 90s was a dream era for Bafana.
I just saw this meme video, An automated robot voice says a reporter asked Benni how did they concede 4 goals to brentford then this song played. 1 for tkzee, 1 for bafana , 1 for bantwana and 1 for Madiba. They actually add up to four lol
I suggest this to be the welcome song for South African National team especially when playing an international match at home ground! Tkzee did their best!! I real appreciate this work. I am Tanzanian though #Blacksolidality
2022 the song is still a great classic. Time back I owned a music shop and would play this track full blast. Customers and staff we would break out in dance. Precious memories. RIP Magesh ❤ you and your talent will always remain legendary
Just few weeks ago, I came to this track in celebration of Benni McCarthy joining Manchester United. Now I'm here again but this time under tragic circumstances. RIP Tokollo.
I’m living in London nowadays but when I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes and makes me so emotional and proud at the same time if ever there was a song that represented S.A at that time it’s this. Listening to this transports me back to a happier time , a care free time.
Omg thought I was the only one... I stay in New York and this song makes me sad!!! Like tears literally roll down my eyes the memories of that time...South Africa was so beautiful and at peace 😭😭😭😭
I am in Colorado now and this song makes me cry. 20 years since I moved. I miss south africa so much. Fortunately I still have my citizenship event though I have not been back in 20 years 😭😭
I remember watching this on Channel O growing in Uganda. Definitely a classic and brings back so many memories. We used to shout that “in the Area” line every where while inserting our names. Lol, shout out to South Africa from Boston.
Memories no tv, only radio's, in most RSA families, poverty was in power & ever-ready power plus battery was king, memories still lives on, no crime or guns in rural areas, respect was inforced by force by parents with love
Rest well my brother. I got to know you in 1994, after Shibobo hit. The streets of Harare back then use to dance yo tune. That's when I fell in love with u TKZee crew. Your lyrics will ever be cherished. KB n Zwai stay strong my brothers. Rest well my Man. Respect from 🇿🇼 🤣🤟👌

I grew up listening to this song at age 8 I remember it being played everywhere, it was such a classic hit in the 90's this brings back "lekker" memories. Shout out to all who grew up in this era it was golden😎🎶🔥
This is the song that got me to learn piano/keyboard and music in general. A friend of mine while doing grade8 took me to one of our school mates house after school, he didn't say what we were going to do there, as we entered the house, I heard Shibobo playing, I thought it was radio playing, to my surprise when we entered his room, here was a dude sitting in front of a keyboard playng shibobo, oh man I was hooked. This guy's were making hip hop beats using a keyboard, this is before we even learned FL studio years later. Fillowing year I bought myself an old Korg keyboard from a school mate, learned to play on my own, then learned FL studio when I went to university while studying computer science, later I learned to play guitar. All of this inspiration started from this song Shibobo.
@Amina bakir why, because of politics, it's all about race in this country, theres many talented white, indian and coloured players but unfortunately because of their skin colour they can't get in

My late uncle always found it so cute that Benny said that he wants to build his Mother a double story once he made it. He made it. My uncle didn't. May he rest in peace. Viva South Africa forever!!!! It's from a kind of white South African here (even though I was referred to as Malay South African due to my complex history over there). I'm still South African!!!! 🇿🇦
