This is what *all* covers should be. Same song, same lyrics in a completely different vein or genre entirely. These guys are fantastic musicians and songwriters.
this is a fucking rad cover. I could understand why people dont like it BUT THE fact that they put thier own spin on it is what makes it awesome. different vibe doesn't mean its bad. 10 out of 10!!
Yeah i don't think the song needed a different rendition but thats me, but these are the best kind of covers, these are what covers should be! A different person/people, perspective, genre etc. of what they hear or how they would have approached writing the same song. Anyone can learn a song an play it as is, and its fine, not impressive but not special either.
Cannot believe I went to the same school as violent soho. all the teachers never saw them as kids with hope. now look how far they've come. fuckin PROUD.
Wrong. Us "hardcore rock music snobs" don't like this because they've taken a good song and tried put their own spin on it and it simply hasn't pulled off in our opinion. What went wrong was that they took a song and changed it from what it was, a hard rock song. Now its just a shitty techo remix and its got no feel to it.
Yeah that's the point of a remix, it's not about outdoing the original, it's about bringing something new to the table. But of course the groupthink mentality will not allow you to see that. This isn't even techno.Everything that has electronic elements is not called techno.
beatsnextdoor you're allowed to like this, the point was more that as a "group of people who think we're better than everyone else" were allowed to dislike it. I have respect for these guys for trying to put their own spin on it but in our opinion it takes away from what the original is actually about. BTW, I think you'll find there's stuck up snobs with superiority complexes in every genre. Look at Kanye West.
Two things. One, for those of you going "dance bands shouldn't try to do punk, just listen to their original "the haunted" all the way through. Two, this cover live, with their live drummer and second guitarist, goes so hard.
I’m barely discovering this a decade later? This is one of my favorite songs by Violent Soho. To hear a cover version like this… I strangely dig it and got into it halfway through. I like hearing a different genre spin on songs, and when they’re performed right, it’s great. That’s the whole point of covers, no?
I reckon both this and the original are bloody fantastic. both totally different interpretations of the same song, this is exactly what like a version was intended for :)
I don't think it's the best (my personal favourite of this year is either Delta Riggs doing Gooey or John Butler Trio doing Happy) but it's definitely a kickass cover.
As the name 'Like a version' states, its their version of this song and i think they have nailed it in making their own. Sounds nothing like the original which makes it all the better.
Does anybody else thing the guy on the far left corner kind of looks like jay from the inbetweeners? lol Great cover! I love listening to different bands' interpretations of songs! :)
Absolutely one of my all time favorite like a version covers, maintains so much of the original song while adding a totally different twist to it. Hell fuck yeah!!
Found this band by this cover song. Loved It. Heard their debut Album. Loved it to death and heard it tons of times. Heard their second album. Sadly let down :(
Great song! Great cover. So why did they all drop their pants? Is that a thing? (Edit: Just watched is video again and realized I made this comment six years ago...still don't understand why they dropped their pants.)
This is what *all* covers should be. Same song, same lyrics in a completely different vein or genre entirely. These guys are fantastic musicians and songwriters.
This is exactly what Like a Version is about - putting an inventive new spin on a great tune. Absolutely nailed it!

6 years later.. you still love it or hate it. Dope tune
Cannot believe I went to the same school as violent soho. all the teachers never saw them as kids with hope. now look how far they've come. fuckin PROUD.
wow that's awesome must be an honour
this is awesome.the only people that dont like this are these hardcore rock music snobs who think everything else sucks.

Flynn Marland couldnt agree more
I know right!!! And I'm full one of them!!!
Two things. One, for those of you going "dance bands shouldn't try to do punk, just listen to their original "the haunted" all the way through. Two, this cover live, with their live drummer and second guitarist, goes so hard.
Hands down my favourite Like A Version Cover eveerrrrrr. x
2014 best like a version album surely
He sounds like Kele of Bloc Party!
Yes! I've always thought NEPH sounded like an Aussie Bloc Party.
Staying true to the sentiment of yelling "HELL FUCK YAH!" made this jump from great to immaculate

Don't tempt me with a good soundtrack 🔥🥸
This is actually insane why isn’t this played daily
Love the original, and this was a pretty great cover
I reckon both this and the original are bloody fantastic. both totally different interpretations of the same song, this is exactly what like a version was intended for :)
One of the best like a versions. Hearing it played again tonight made my week.
They have the same lyrics but a complete different song I love the spin off!
this is awesome. solid cover. new twist. dance worthy. the original still lingers...
These guys are so tight!!! They play as a unit
Thats a different take on the song. I liked it.
Haters going to hate but I think this is the best like a version for '14.
I don't think it's the best (my personal favourite of this year is either Delta Riggs doing Gooey or John Butler Trio doing Happy) but it's definitely a kickass cover.
delta riggs cover of gooey was better than the original IMO. And anything john butler trio does is just gold.
As the name 'Like a version' states, its their version of this song and i think they have nailed it in making their own. Sounds nothing like the original which makes it all the better.
I love Violent Soho, but I love how they make this super funky :)
This is my favorite "Like a Version" cover ever.

Does anybody else thing the guy on the far left corner kind of looks like jay from the inbetweeners? lol

I guess you are going to have to wait and see if it makes the annual like a version cd
*sigh* Sadly.
or you could convert the video to an MP3 file ;)
I mean...yeah,but I'd rather be honest and pay for it,lol.
You can purchase like a version albums off itunes :)
Absolutely one of my all time favorite like a version covers, maintains so much of the original song while adding a totally different twist to it. Hell fuck yeah!!
