- After two design changes, dealing with too many cracks to count, and a crashed computer, this project is finally completed!
Watch as I turn a finicky piece of red oak into a beautiful vase with a charred interior. Because, who doesn't love to play with fire!?!
I had 6 different sticker swaps to catch up on. Please check them out and give them a sub. They TOTALLY deserve it!

Good shout Seth matches DD's theme for his challenge perfectly. Well done.
Hey Terry! Thanks so much!
It does but, I’m going to be doing something else for the challenge. I videoed this project back in August. But, then my computer crashed before I could finish editing it.
I didn’t think it would be very fair for me to just use a project that was already finished. 😂
Thanks for watching buddy!
Seth, Good Choice. Only problem... that burning wood sure did stink! Sometimes I swear I can smell what's on TV 😆. I do hope you had the extinguisher handy playing with that 🔥! I really like this one. When you do one of the challenges make sure to add that in the description. Thanks for a great video. Stay safe, Vickie
Haha! Thanks Vickie!
This actually wasn’t my fire challenge piece. I had recorded this video back around August but then the loss of hard drive on my computer kept me from finishing the editing until the beginning of November until I could afford to buy a new computer.
Thanks for watching!
Great job Seth, and you're right, who doesn't like a little charring! Sorry to hear of the setbacks but these things happen. On to the next!! 👍
Indeed brother, keep looking forward!
Thanks for watching!
Amazing work Seth, that charring is so great as is the finish. Thank you for sharing.
Keep on turning.
Cheers, Bluey 👍
Thank you for watching Bluey! Appreciate your kind words!
Seth, I got to say that I love your intro with the bricks being built. Love the video quality and you've got cat like reflexes to catch the piece before it fell there at the end!
Lol, Hodge!!! I was hoping wondering if somebody would catch that! (Pun intended)
Thanks for your kind words buddy, means a lot!
Lovely bit of turning and burning Seth
Thanks Tommy! It was a tad frustrating at times but, it all worked out! Lol
Thanks for watching!

When the auger bit got stuck I was a tad lost as to where to go next. It took quite a bit of figuring to get it out. 😂

Hey Jiggsy! Thanks so much for that! Appreciate you watching!
@@BrickhouseCraftWorks no worries. Looking forward to what you'll be doing for DD's challenge. I had been thinking of using the blowtorch for my entry, but not yet planned the full project yet.
I haven’t decided either. I joked with him about using this project. But, I didn’t think that was fair. Lol
Look forward to your entry too, man!
Hi I've just subscribed as Im also in the clock challenge , look forward to seeing more of your turnings etc.. cheers
Thanks so much Grahame! Look forward to seeing your stuff as well!
Nice 👍 work
Thanks Barry! I certainly appreciate you watching!
Lovely lathe mate
Thanks Barry! I do love it!
Nice vase Seth. I like the checks as they are ... gives, and shows, the wood character ! Funny about the fire inside ... in the early days I overcooked some green wood in the microwave - guess what it looked like inside ? hehe Stay safe. -Mike😷💉
Thanks Mike!!
I agree, I was really happy with it!
Interesting that overcooked in the microwave would cause it to char that way! I’d have never guessed!
Thanks for watching man!
Seth
@@BrickhouseCraftWorks Yeah, sort of a charcoal egg inside. Same thing happened to Pepperidge Farm dinner rolls when we first got a microwave - golden brown on the outside charcoal egg on inside. Way too funny.
As soon as I saw the auger bit with the lead screw, I said to myself "Oh no". 😁
If you look really closely at my walnut slab mantle you'll know why.
Haha! Yeah, that was definitely a lesson learned! Thanks for watching!
