- As indie authors, we are responsible for our books' formatting, and that process can be intimidating if you're just getting started. I've formatted all of my own books in Microsoft Word, and along the way I've taught myself how to do so in a way that looks and feels professional and often includes eye-catching visual elements. In today's video, I'll show you how to insert your front matter in Word (including title pages). Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss the rest of the series where I'll be showing you how to insert maps and other images, create unique chapter headers, and more!

Thank you all so much for checking out this video series and for your likes and comments. I'm so glad it's been helpful for so many of you.
I've had a ton of people asking questions about specific formatting issues or problems, and while I would love to answer all of them, I simply don't have the time (or the knowledge sometimes) to respond to every specific question. Microsoft Word isn't the best or the easiest formatting tool out there, so it is pretty tricky to get things right.
Most of what I've shown here was learned through trial and error and many, many Google searches. You can find many of the solutions to your problems that way. I'm sorry I can't respond to every single question but I wish you all the best of luck in your formatting endeavors!
This is great! Thank you ❤
This whole series is INSANELY HELPFUL! Thank you so much! Formatting my first novel as we speak 🤗
Yay! I'm so glad. Good luck with the book!

So glad I found your channel. Can you tell me the name of the book title font please? I really like that.
Thanks, this was tremendously helpful, glad to know I can use word if I need to
Yeah, it's a bit finicky but it can do a lot! Glad the video was useful.
Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much for this video ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
Of course! I hope it helps.
Thank you so much.
Love your video. Do you do your title page as an image because the fonts change when using different devices?
Thank you ❤
Good stuff!! Wanted to ask... where do we get that copyright page info from that you mentioned we can get?? Thanks in advance!! 🙏
This is an incredibly insightful series you’ve put together. Thank you so much! Just one question - I notice you don’t use a table of contents for your novels. Is that standard practice? I don’t want to include a table of contents if I don’t have to. 🙏🏼
Do ypu have a video of what should be on our copyright page if we are doing amazon?
Dear Hernandez, I inserted a png of my book title in ms word and then uploaded it on Amazon but in the launch previewer the title got shifted to the left side in (tablet and kindle) previewer and it is showing properly aligned in mobile previewer. I am not getting the problem. Do I have to stretch the book title to full size?
Hi I just subcribe to your channel very beautiful interiors u have, thanks so much for taking ur time to explain this, I do wanted to ask u please if this series is great for beginners?? Like I do want to learn about book formatting saw ur videos going into it, I like ur content, any ways I know I can learn more about booking formatting as a total beginner??? Please reply ❤️
I tried to make the videos very accessible to beginners, so hopefully you will find it useful. Downloading the example file linked in the description may be helpful as it gives you the chance to actually see and test out all the things I'm explaining.
@@ta_hernandez5 thanks do so much am really grateful cheers 😁😁😁
Will the formatting work for the ebook version of our books as well? I am starting out with an ebook version then will go to print. I understand that both are differently formatted, correct?
They are different, and I actually use a different program for my ebooks (Atticus). I used to do them in Word but I would take out most of the images to simplify things, then used Calibre to convert the file to an epub. But I still had some lingering issues that way and wasn't tech-savvy enough to figure them all out.
@@ta_hernandez5 Thank you. I have written quite a few but have not had the guts to do the next steps. I think ebook is the best first step after I edit and find a few alpha/beta readers.

I could use your help! Are you in Texas...lol
Unfortunately not, sorry!
Hi dear, your text you did book of pirates, you said you did it as an image in photoshop, please how can I do that any clue u can share let me do so in photoshop 😊
Creating images in photoshop is a whole separate skill and there's a lot that goes into it (and a lot of different ways you can do it). You can also find and use stock images online, which is what I did here. Just make sure you buy the licensing for them or use images that are free for commercial use.
@@ta_hernandez5 thanks so so much dear ur really really helpful and patient to reply 😊 ☺ may God bless u 🙏🏼 thanks 😊
Why creating a book front cover, I thought publishers do that. This can change.
If you are seeking traditional publication, a publisher will create your cover for you. If you are self-publishing (like me) you are responsible for your own cover.
