Gosh 2020 was a crazy year for me as well!! I have been picking up the ones that speak to me as well since 2016-17, and i have about 20 pieces now. One of it is the zen Mechanical pencil and I LOVE IT> the lead rocks. Thanks for sharing. I love your “collection”. Cheers.
I have not tried the mechanical pencils! I want to, but I know I wouldn’t use it enough. I so rarely use pencils, and when I do, I usually reach for a wood-cased one. But maybe I’ll have a chance to try one in store one day, and who knows!? I might end up with one. Thanks for your kind comment!
The Bubblegum Monochrome is absolutely yummy! Would snatch one up if it ever became available again (affordable that is), along with the Cioppino Rose Gold.
Right!? It’s a stunner! I think I got it for about $90, which I found to be a great price. Set an alert on eBay for it - they pop up fairly regularly! The Cioppino is gorgeous, too! I bought the fountain pen version of it, but I sold it without even opening it, because I thought it might be heavier than I like for a fountain pen.

I use them! I don't really believe in owning things just to have them sit on a shelf.
Is that buzz pen durable is it a paint that will scratch off?
To me it seems extremely durable! I have carried this pen in my purse, loose among keys and pocket knife and nail clippers, and it looks good as new. The honeycomb pattern is etched into the metal, and then there’s some kind of lacquer or coating over it to give it that honey look. It’s not just paint! I’ve not had issue with any of my Retro 51 designs scratching off.

@gingerpeachy - I went from 0 to 5 in a matter of two days. I bought them as Xmas gifts - 1 Stealth, 2 white, 1 Dr. Gray, & 1 USPS. I'm thinking of getting myself the Ombre Macchiato, but I just purchased the Monteverde Engage Inkball. 🫠🫠🫠
I don’t feel good about the rescue donation, because it just makes me think I could stop buying pens and donate the small fortune they cost me to the church or other good causes. But these are beautiful pens.
To be fair, I would’ve bought that pen whether or not they were making a donation. It’s just beautiful! So the donation is just a bonus on top of what I already give in other places!
I'm confused, comme d'habitude...Firstly I'm interested in the bee pen, which is REALLY cool looking. Can you buy refills in stores? Are they specific to that brand, or can I use different brands? Are they expensive? Are the rollerballs like gels; I like gels but they run out of ink so fast? How long does the ink last in general?
Like I said, I love that bee pen. I'd buy it, and maybe gift it....I always say I'm buying something as a gift, but then I end up liking the thing, and I keeping . . . Many a collection of mine started that way. However, if I do give it away, I don't want there to be a problem with people getting refills.
Finally, and quite imortantly, how do they write? Smoothly? Thin/thick? I was going to give it to my cousin Sarah, and she's kind of weird/particular, if it doesn't write just perfectly ( relatively speaking), she'll actually complain, and won't use it, so there is no point in buying it for her ( she's weird, but so am I, so I love her). If it writes thin, I might keep it...I write big, and use cheap paper, so I like thinner writers. . .

No need to apologize! Retro 51 Tornado pens usually come with a rollerball (liquid) refill, but it can be replaced with any Parker-style or G2-style refill. (Not the Pilot G2 pen refill - that’s a different thing!) There are hundreds of options including gel, ballpoint, and rollerball inks, and most any office supply store will carry at least a few of them. These are the refills you see that are usually silver metal and have a little twist at the top. Some options are:
- Schmidt Easyflow 9000
- Parker Quinkflow
- Monteverde Capless Gel Refills
- Uni SXR-600 Jetstream
- Etc.
If you will do a search for “Well-Appointed Desk Refill Guide,” you will see a huge list of some of the options.
The Schmidt P8127 rollerball refill that usually comes with the pen writes well, but rollerball ink (liquid ink) is not my favorite, so I often swap them out for ballpoint refills. Many people love the rollerball refill, though, and have a great experience with it. I find them to be smooth and write with a thicker line. But again, they can easily be swapped out for anything you prefer. Perhaps you could give your cousin the pen and a couple of different refill options to consider.
The bee pen is called “Buzz” and it’s one of their rescue series. It’s a wonderful design and looks and feels great in the hand. I highly recommend it! My collection has grown since making this video, but Buzz is still my favorite edition.
