hey everyone, to prevent the ghosting use a thin layer of acrylic gesso first it can be thin enough that you can still see the dots of the paper and it'll work. i did a test with an Ohuhu BG120 and made several passes. just keep in mind this limits how well they blend
Amazing advice thank you!!
Oh my god thank you! I tried using mine and it blended so bad and I got so mad because that was the main reason why I bought this journal is so I could use my markers without it bleeding. If this works it’ll be so worth the extra step
Absolutely amazing. I love seeing you combine different media! So talented.
Glad you enjoy it!
The journals are costly, so gluing pages together or putting a new blank page from a tablet on top of a bleeded page I'm not sure about, but gluing a pretty picture already have is a great idea to cover up permanent ghost and bleed. Now how does one get used to the alcohol smell and stain where the markers drop? 😆
Thats such a great idea :) As mentioned in previous comments the journals are not intended for alcohol markers as alcohol makers will bleed through any paper if it is not alcohol marker specific, so here Kate is just looking at alternatives with her notebook and sharing them :)
@@ArcherandOlive Exactly!
Nice, but I thought you would actually tell "how to use alcohol markers in your notebook" WITHOUT having the trouble with the bleeding through. Which primer (that is not gritty, which would ruin the markers)? How many layers? Effects on blendability... and so on.
That's a great video idea, I'll pass it onto my team!
Hi do you ship in south africa
Hi Hlengiwe, we do, we ship globally. Obviously with covid at play, keep in mind shipping might be a lot longer than anticipated :)
Thank you so so much!
Always a pleasure
Cool a fellow leftie
Welcome fellow leftie! :)
@@ArcherandOlive Glad to be here and being creative is the way of a leftie , eh?
I was a bit disappointed after the hype of the A&O journal. The one I received had misprinted dots between pages, and it was scratchy horrible paper. The artist here also is using what looks like a piece of paper under the artwork to prevent bleeding through to the page underneath the one she is drawing on. I had such high hopes and expectations for this journal, but I just can't bring myself to get another after that first one :(
Oh No Jackie, I am so sorry to hear that, did you reach out to our customer service team? They would be happy to look into the issue for you. For this tutorial Kate is using alcohol pens which will bleed through even cardboard (alcohol pens need specially coated paper) - so she is showing here how we can use our notebooks even when this happens :) please do reach out to our customer service team about your experience as it may have been a misprint :) hello@archerandolive.com
@@ArcherandOlive I used your "contact us" twice, and got 0 response. So it made a further negative experience for me unfortunately.
I am sorry to hear that, I have forwarded this comment directly to the team to follow up :)
Hi Jackie we have checked the system and we dont seem to see any messages which is odd so we are checking to see if this was a glitch, the CS team a really looking forward to helping you sort this out. Their direct email is hello@archerandolive.com :)
It’s lovely, but it clearly does bleed through.
That is correct, Alcohol markers will bleed through almost all paper unless its coated for Alcohol Markers, here Kate is showing us how to use it in her normal BuJo without coating :)
