"If it’s dark ... than HOW the heCK is it light ??" Honey that’s the markers logical WE human don’t need to understand Edit : Thanks for all the like this is my most liked comment so yeah 😭💕
I think maybe it's a dark violet light🕯️ like the light to see in the dark and those lights no matter if it's a dark colour they still look like a light colour (My English is not good but still hope you understood my point 💀)
Fun fact, most of these names come from what pigments are used. For example, black brown, probably used a very light black brown mix to create the orange tone. It’s why the numbers are that way too, because the letters are the pigments, and the number is the unique identifier within that colour bracket. I must admit, alcohol markers never act how they should on the cap, so you should always swatch.
This. That is also seen in watercolors or acrylics. If you check a tube, they can have only one pigment (PB 15:3, the common Phthalo blue) or more than two of them (neutral tint have PBk 6, PV 19, PB 15. A black pigment, a violet pigment and a blue pigment).
That's not right. The letter just refers to the categories of color, like P=Purple, G=Green, R=Red, P=Purple, RP=Red-Purple. As the person before me said, these markers don't use pigments but dye. Pigment names look like this: PG7 (a green), PV55 (a violet), PB15:1 (a blue), etc., P stands for pigment and the other letter ist the color family, like Green or Purple. Please don't spread misinformation, there are now at least 433 people who went away from your comment, believing what you said is correct although it's bs, sorry.
@@439801RS not necessarily. According to the Oxford dictionary, the only difference between pigment and dye is that pigment is natural while dye can be synthetic. Apparently, it's a bit more complicated than that, but come on, don't nitpick.
Thank you for mentioning this. I just started learning with ohuhu markers and I was so confused about why everything looked off. I finally swatched all of them and have my swatch cards out at all times. Idk why art brands can't get this down. Makeup brands were notoriously bad at matching colors to the product but in recent years gotten almost spot on with most packaging and product colors

@𝕄𝕠𝕔𝕙𝕚 maybe because it's darker for a pastel range, so they called it a dark color. Also, these were probably made in China, so names might have gotten mistranslated.
Also I have an explanation on the behalf of Ohuhu for the Dark Violet light lol🤣 that maybe the people who were naming the colours were not fluent in English and therefore thought to name a colour on the darker end of the lighter spectrum of violet like this. (I hope this makes sense)
My bone to pick is that YOU'RE STORING THEM UPRIGHT! NO! Please store them resting on their sides to preserve lifespan. Sorry for the outburst haha but *damn*

Dark violet light means this: Dark violet is a shade soo, it’s just a light shade of dark violet. It not actually telling that the colour is dark or light it’s just telling a lighter shade of colour which’s name has the word dark in it. Hope that explained it. :)
I have over 250 alcohol brush markers and they are so much fun to use and yes the colors sometimes dont match, I go mostly for copic and tombow inks because they are pretty good. But having a sketchbook of color coded marker colors will help out a lot if you have been using several brands. Try that it might help
I actually been doing professional art with Copic alcohol markers for year, I always suggest having a spare piece of paper with you to test the colors and blending before you use it.
i have similar doubts when using them, mine are way cheap and don't come with a testing paper so i just keep a piece of paper near me while drawing and try out every marker before i use it

I have an idea that I haven’t done yet but also haven’t heard anyone suggest. Swatching out the colors then cut them in a shape that would match the ends of the caps, write the number, and then glue them on both caps of each pen. This way your swatch is directly on the cap and you don’t have to refer to your swatch sheet every time you need to choose a color.
This is so true, I also have alcohol markers and it doesn't really make sense... But they really make my arts very neat so I don't have to complain a lot xd
someone else made this statement and i agree; names usually come from pigments used esp with smaller companies. its less work to just use the pigment names as the colour names. dark violet light makes more sense that it seems. its a darker violet shade, but violets are never super dark. so its still light, but for that particular one its a darker shade of a light colour
