alex Redwhiteblue if you’re short like me 5’5, it might not be worth it. Pushes you back on the bike. Felt pretty good in corners though. But even that made you look awkward as a short rider and people will comment on your “bad body position,” not realizing it changes from the norm because of it
You mentioned getting a ton of brake fade and i got much brake fade on my 04 r1 on my first track day. I also started changing my brake fluid before each track day and upgraded brake lines to galfer braded lines but the single most important factor which eliminated brake fade for me was switching to carbon racing brake pads which I purchase from vortexracing.com. no i am not affiliated with vortex and i dont get anything from vortex for promoting the product. I picked up a 15 R1 recently and i will be using carbon brake pads on this bike as well. You definately dont want to loose your brakes on track. I have experienced it several times my first track day and it is pretty scary.
I'm new to the whole track day thing. As I was looking up track days there are a lot of places that require "club membership" and you also have to pay for the track day, along with mandatory coaching you have to do throughout the day. No passing, 75% throttle or less. Bunch of stupid rules. Coming from motocross(pay gate entry fee and ride in your class) it's a pain in the ass having to jump through 100 hoops just to be able to ride for 6-10 sessions. Makes me not want to do it.
Hayden Layne jeeze what area are you from? That sounds off putting. They want business out here and even offer a free 20min session during lunch for new people.
Hey, what’s good my guy? I’m in Portland and I’m really trying to get out to the track on my SUPERMOTO. I was jw if you see a lot of guys out there on them and hoping we could just chop it up about the scene out here in general. Thanks in advance bra
Loving that paint on your bike. As far as the brake fade, have you put braided brake lines and changed your pads to a track/race pad or street/track pad? EBC has good ones. I had alot of brake fade as well and those mods stopped it. Hope you can get it worked out.
Vic Fess i did man! ..look through my channel. I have a 2 part tutorial i just put out a couple weeks ago. Simple and easy to follow with a ton of details. Just over 2hrs long
possible, but not a fact. the woodies are shroom shaped and I've seen them hold up really well in crashes. some motoamerica bikes use frame sliders. the yamalube super stock bike has sliders all over it.
not a pro...just stating facts. google yamalube's super bike r1 in Moto America. it's running TST frame sliders. I'm using the same trigger cover and stator cover they use on their motoamerica r1. I stated FRAME SLIDERS in my first reply..maybe you're confused? @@R1ATLANTA
I have 2 crashes on track at over 80 mph each and frame sliders saved my bike from severe damage and my bike did not flip. I have street crashes and frame sliders did not cause my bike to flip. I have been ridind street for 27 years and track eiding 4 years and i would never put a bike on traxk without at leasr low profile racing sliders such as the racing sliders from GB-Racing
did I miss anything?
Great vid as always. Question, how do you like that carbon tank cover. Thinking of getting it and was wondering if worth it.
