Oh my gosh!! Thank you so much. Now I know what’s going on with my arm. I had a double mastectomy 2 weeks ago. After I was released from the hospital it appeared out of no where. God Bless you!!

Wow! Great explanation for what she is dealing with right now. She's nearly 3 weeks out from the lumpectomy and node removal and is now experiencing this cording effect. As usual, I go right to You Tube for some expert advice and I was not disappointed. Thank you so much for a wonderful and insigthful explanation for this condition!

I had cording after bilateral mastectomy and lymph node removal. It was painful and I didn’t understand it. I thought I did “too much too fast” after surgery. Thank you for the explanation. 💚🌷

Thank you so much for this video. I thought that I had caused my cording because I didn’t do the at home PT and was really beating myself up over it. The cord In my forearm has finally released but still working on the one in my bicep and armpit. PT is painful but so worth it. Thank you again.

I loved the explanations in this video. I get very queasy feeling my own cord in my armpit because it is so tight, so I had to look away when they were pressing on the woman's cord, lol. I'm a month post-surgery and have been doing finger wall walking exercises and some stretches , so I may need a PT since there is still pain and stiffness.

Thank you for showing cording in the area under the breast surgery. I had this and my breast surgeon didn’t know what it was! It was tender and I was frightened because it ran across the area of my liver. Surgeons need to be educated about this! I was terrified that I might have some liver mets because of the tenderness in that area and had an unnecessary CT scan.
Yes that is scary! And thank you for sharing this with your MD. Cording in the abdomen or side isn’t super common but it happens!
@@therecoveryroom2198 Yes and in defence of my surgeon, the cording on my torso was not as visible as in the photo you shared, or as the obvious cording under my arm. On my torso the cords were only faintly visible and palpable.
Thank you for this informational video. I have developed post-surgical cording and it's had me concerned.
I had a shoulder repair (bicep tenodesis) last February and I went hard at my physical therapy, even impressing my therapist with my range of motion and how quickly I regained it. I was determined not to end up with a frozen shoulder!
Then on January 7th of this year I had a 2nd lumpectomy with sentinel node removal and all of a sudden my arm won't move and twist like it should, I can't reach up as far as I could before surgery, and I have this thick, sensitive, painful rope under my skin that runs from my axilla to my elbow.
I appreciate you saying it's not my fault and that I didn't cause it by "not doing enough" because I did the exercises I was told to do, but that cord is still so tight and even rotating my wrist from thumb inward to thumb outward hurts like crazy.
Thanks for explaining it. I'm off to watch some physical therapy videos on how to break up cording. I'm afraid the longer I wait the harder it will be to break up.
I read about using heat to loosen it up, like I would with my shoulder PT, but that could cause more lymph swelling so I'm a little afraid of it and have been doing it without heat thus far. Hmm.

Hi Candace! I am not worried about you using heat on the arm. Heat won’t make the cording go away faster, but it will help decrease pain especially before or after stretching. (There’s no evidence heat to the arm increases lymphedema risk.) Grab the skin on your arm over where the cording is and slide it up or down the bone until you feel the cords stretch. That is the best way to get rid of it. It will eventually go away. Stay active!

Thank you so much for this video. I am 4wks post breast, arm and armpit lift following a 115lb weight loss (natural, not surgical). I have developed cording under one arm but my range of motion is still limited in both arms post-op and the cording armpit is still slightly irritated on the incision line. When would be safe to commence cording treatment?

Hey Kelly, that is a bit odd. If it doesn’t go away in the next couple of days, have your primary doc take a look at it.
thank you for this video! one of my nodes (sentilal) was removed 3 weeks ago but after 2 weeks the cord has appeared in my armpit. Today I had a review visit with the breast surgeon and she simply pressed the cord which "popped" she refered to it as a brocken cord... there is a small relese but i am not sure where the lymph will now go if the lymphatic cord has been brocken...

im a 50 yr old man, i lost both of my legs at the age of 9 months old. on right I'm a hip disarticulation and on left a knee disarticulation. all the grafting has contractured and so have abdomen muscles. the worst is on back side of stump. the long tendon has cording scar covering all of it. so I feel like I'm tearing open in spots. 4 yrs ago had skin grafting to see if it helped. it made everything worse. i cant find info on cording in a amputated stump. can u help with some info? I'm miserable.....
Hi Doctor, will the coding will spread to stomach area? I have under armpit after surgery, but recently I feel it at the left side of my stomach. I have left breast surgery 9 months ago.
What about when you haven’t had surgery and this came out of no where. What causes it
Trauma? GL finding info on it. I'm male and have it right now. I injured my hand and woke up a month ago with it. I've found only one other case of it in Australia.

What if u have it and have had no cancer surgery?? What else can cause it?
Every find out what caused it? Currently going through that right now thinking it’s work related for me thought.
Wife has them under the breast, we figure "mondor syndrome". The internet mostly describes the breast ones (as pictured in this) as corded veins, not lymph. No surgery or reason it came up. Thoughts?
Hey Nathanael! Yes, what you are describing is fairly common and is often described as Mondor's. Regardless of etiology, it responds well to gentle heat and gentle stretching and will resolve with time. Let me know how it goes, best wishes!

Hi! Get in touch with your primary MD so they can assess it. And then if needed see a PT (physio) to help get rid of it!
I got this but never had any lymph surgery, Chemo or radiation! It went from my forearm to my armpit and I’m still trying to break up the ones in my forearm and it’s incredibly painful!
It's very rare, but I've seen it happen! Sorry, it may take a bit, but it will resolve. See if you can get in to see a PT! Best wishes!
Same! I got it after my lumpectomy and again after my bilateral mastectomy and because my anatomy was “difficult” my lymph nodes weren’t biopsies or removed. My cording goes down over my ribs and into my abs. I feel so confused about what it actually is caused by other than the surgeries. I went to PT for it after my lumpectomy and am starting PT for it again next week due to the bilateral mastectomy. I hope yours is getting better! I wish you all the best.

hello i never had surgery or conventional treatment. i cannot raise either arm for months. my PT cannot figure out why i havent popped yet. i will keep trying but im very discouraged.

Hey Ryan! This condition typically happens only after lymph node removal from the underarm. I would recommend talking with your physician!

Hi , i am a male i didn’t do any surgery and i have cording From time to time .
Last time i had it was 8 or 9 years ago and it was bad ,i could not move my arm and this is the second time but i am stretching my arm and it help .
You have any idea why a male without surgery would have it ?

Hi Bb! Gender is not relevant to the mystery as both men and women can get cording after lymph node surgery. I have not seen cording outside the scenario of lymph node surgery, so don't have a good answer for you...
I’m not understanding why I’m only finding information about after having breast cancer surgery. I don’t have breast cancer, nor have I had surgery or any kind of lymph node removals, yet I have this.

@@therecoveryroom2198 yes after My 3rd day of my surgery I started doing my stretches. But when I went to see doc he told me to wait for a month 🙄 my phyllodes tumor was 18cm
I have this but I’ve only had a breast enhancement surgery 🤷🏻♀️
Cording can happen after breast enhancement surgery! Have your doc send you to a PT to help get rid of it faster!
