- KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Atlanta Braves minor league manager Luis Salazar was awake and able to respond to doctors Wednesday after being hit in the face by Brian McCann's foul liner during an exhibition game.Wren said Salazar was unconscious when an ambulance drove onto the field to help the 54-year-old former big leaguer. Wren said Salazar was hit around the nose, toward his left eye. The game was delayed nearly 20 minutes while medical personnel tended to Salazar. Braves star Chipper Jones was on first base when the accident occurred. He said Salazar was leaning against a dugout railing and toppled backward, hitting his head on the concrete floor. Braves starting pitcher Rodrigo Lopez described the scene as "sickening."
How is Luis today ??? Did he lose his eye ??? We are praying for him...
@Lights0ut1109
They clap when the player get's up and walks off the field... when the player is OK. Why they clapped this time, I have no idea.... to show their support? I don't know. I guess, if you're a dog, all you know how to say is "Bark," and, if you're a fan, "clap" is a pretty big part of your vocabulary.
he lost one of his eyes, so unfortunate.
I was there at the game. There was a pall over the whole stadium for about another hour or so. And never did the broadcast to those at the game who it was or what his condition was. I was frustrated by that "info black out." Maybe they thought enough people would ck their phones for info. All said, very thankful that there is no brain damage
Horrible. Headline for video should be changed. He got hit by a line drive foul ball off McCann's bat.
Como esta Luis ??? Perdio el ojo ??? Estamos rezando por el...
He lost his left eye, apparently the hit cut in two the eye, so the surgeon couldn't do anything for save it.
@ROLDANMENDOZAUCV Yeah, I'm sure he did it on purpose. -rolls eyes-

Todo por amor al baseball, esperamos verte otra vez en el campo, animo luis....
what was sickening was the "thwack" you heard when that laser shot hit him. He's lucky to be alive.
