      When you just pulled your Personal best wheelie and the tyre chirps on touchdown, all that tread you saved is worn away in an instant. lol

    • @astifcaulkinyeras
      @astifcaulkinyeras 7 лет назад +120

      If you keep your riding to 50% wheelies and 50% stoppies you can decrease tire wear by 100% and never have to replace your tires. That's the power of math!

    • @Zalonka
      @Zalonka 7 лет назад +6

      Sorry to get technical but you would only be saving 50% of each tire which out of 100% would only be 25% overall. So 25% + 25% = 50%. You would only be "reducing" tire wear by 50%. That said generally you skid the front tire for a second for a stoppie which actually is an increase on tire wear. Note when you POWER wheelie like you are suppose to. You are using up more center tread like hard acceleration off the line. So you really are not saving any tire wear by doing stoppies or wheelies. Maybe 20% combined at maximum if you are a pro..

      1)Clutch in
      2)3-4 gear works great
      3)Rev it a touch
      4)Dump the clutch
      5)smooth throttle inputs
      6)you will find balance point eventually.
      Make sure to cover rear brake as well if you don't want to loop !

    Take it from someone who has been in the motorcycle stunt game for a very long time....riding wheelies is really hard on your bike and if you ride em a lot you will destroy your engine noooo doubt about it! Plus it can be hard on your frame and everything else as well and oh yeah if you are new to riding motorcycles then forget about wheelies and just concentrate on learning to ride your motorcycle safely because the road is unforgiving and a lot of the time you don't get a second chance to be smarter next time....trust me I have seen it 1000 times....guys go out and buy powerful superbikes for their first bike and a week later they think they are a stunt rider....don't be stupid be safe and smart and live to ride another day....once you have developed good street skills which takes a lot of time not a week then you can always go find a local stunt spot and fall in with a good group of stunters and they will point you in the rite direction....take your time build your skills wear all your gear always assume that the car coming at you or next to you is going to turn in front of you or run over you and stay alert no day dreaming not paying attention or drinking and riding....be safe everybody God Bless and have fun! ❤️

    Keep up uploading!

    • @d1sturb3d119
      @d1sturb3d119 7 лет назад +33

      No if you do it right. Yes if the motor is loaded when you shift. Lots of practice helps. Roll off the throttle and load the shifter and when there's a gap in power the bike will shift.

    • @petergriffin4629
      @petergriffin4629 7 лет назад +25

      Actually a properly done clutchless shift is the best you can do to your gearbox.

      If your gearbox doesn't go clunk, you did it right.

    • @blue03r6
      @blue03r6 7 лет назад +20

      a motorcycle's transmission is built in a way to allow clutchless up and downshifts. in fact some bikes now come with quickshifters and autoblip downshift assists. the transmission is called a sequential transmission. you can google that to see what it is. to upshift you will need to unload the transmission by closing the throttle. close shift and open. as fast as you can. this works better the faster you are going. around town it's much harder to do and clunkier. downshifting is a bit more of an advanced technique but is possible. again, works better the faster you are going. the new bikes with electronic controlled throttles can utilize an autoblipp assist setting in the computer which will open the throttle when the shift sensor senses you are pushing on the lever. so when you click it down a gear it's as seamless as an upshift.

    Can you guys make a video on how to properly adjust suspension

    • @kolby4078
      @kolby4078 7 лет назад

      the suspension should be done by a professional
      once you've had it set up by a pro you should have a little better idea of what a properly set up bike should feel like and then you can start making small adjustments for your riding style. but be sure you keep the set up ticket your suspension guy gave you so you can get it back how it was if you mess up

    • @WheatMillington
      @WheatMillington 7 лет назад +2

      You do NOT need a professional to set up your suspension. It's an easy DIY job, and there is no black magic in suspension that can't be learned by anyone.

    • @kolby4078
      @kolby4078 7 лет назад

      If you wanna try 20 dif setups to even get close your first time sure
      just pay the $50 and you'll have a better idea of what to look for, it's all done by feel.
      there are 6+ adjustments that all have an effect on each other and if you're just sitting there twiddling knobs you're probably not going to get the results you want

Definitely worth knowing, as I didn't back then. Couple thousand dollar learning experience right there.

    • @TheAdamAdy
      @TheAdamAdy 7 лет назад +1

      Bunnunoox They put more stress on parts that arent made for that, thus thise parts will die sooner than with stock engine.

    • @RT22-pb2pp
      @RT22-pb2pp 7 лет назад

      It can shorten bottom end life, more on sportbikes than detuned standards. Standards have less power but usually botom ends as strong if not stronger than top sport bikes. Sport bikes shave everything to thin tolerance for power that comes stock. OLDER GS suzukis bottom ends could handle almost twice stock power on bottom end. That is why so many drag racers back in the day loved them. Today most are not that over engineered. Check with shops, they may be able to tell you more on specific models, it will vary. Not all bottom ends are created equal.

    Here is another topic for you.... on my adv bike you can ride it seated in the enter of the seat and upright, but for aggressive riding you really need to "ride on the front wheel" - with your chest and head over the front end. this helps with front end feel and stability. Can you compare this characteristic on different types of bikes - standard, sport, adv, cruiser, etc.,to get the most out of spirited riding - changing your body position relative to the front end of the bike can make a big difference

    talk about the ducati 999... they were the last of a handbuilt bike era.... i crashed my ducati 999 at about 80 mph into two trees and a rock i broke 30+ bones punctured lung broken sacrum and both pelvis bones on each side, reconstructed shoulder, lacerated liver and spleen, it would be awesome if you can do a throwback to the ducati 999, there is soo little footage and i drove over 5 states just to get my hands on a mint condition 2006 ducati 999 with 3500 miles i crashed at only 6500 or so, only bend the rear subframe, so i plan to fix the bike, but it would be awesome if you can do a video on the bike, its soo unitque from the poli-elipsodial headlights to the termignoni exhaust known to be one of the most frustrating exhausts to install, and its dry clutch setup with such a mechanical sound, i personally took mine off, got some red retainer cups with polished springs and polished my plate to a chrome like shine and was down the road... the only thing i hated was the crazy exhaust temps due to poor ventilation placed perfectly on the track but not on the street right by the calfs and upper thigh if your just cruising with shorts... i know your should always wear full gear which i actually was during my crash, i split my helmet in two went thru a three bounced off another onto a boulder which my bike smashed into, it would be awesome if you actually made a video was mayb able to shout me out and help me and educate many on the iconic ducati 999... especially the 2006 model with the red powder coated frame to signify the last year of production, this bike was awesome, and is such a hard find. Looking back i cannot believe i even was able to get such a bike between my legs, i did have an issue with the rear brake not bleeding and holding pressure, that would be awesome if u addressed that and how to properly care for them, because ultimately that is why i couldnt slow down enough for the sharp left turn i tried the fronts and started to endo so i slowly let off and had no rear brakes after sitting a night and unfortunately was the end of that and almost my life if i wasnt lifestarred to the hospital... please do a informative video of the ducati 999 series they won all superbike championships in those years so that is a true statement of the awesome power and lowdown torque and grunt of the bike... let me know if your looking for something to help write content i would love to relocate and work with your team.. thanks.. hope to see a video of the ducati 999... take care..

    Used to power wheelie my (former) RC-51, every. single. time I rolled on the throttle to pass someone. The beauty about a power wheelie on that bike is that after you ease off the throttle, the bike gently set itself down. With my (current) Honda Blackbird though; power wheelies are scary because of how long the bike is and how they tend to occur right at the upper half of the tach. I actively avoid them when under hard acceleration.

    • @Zeggawong
      @Zeggawong 7 лет назад +1

      Not so much with tapered roller bearings most bikes use now, they can put up with alot of abuse before you notice notchy steering. Older bikes with ball bearings can be ruined pretty quickly with bad wheelies, you'll then start to feel the handlebars getting stuck in the centre.

    • @blue03r6

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 7 лет назад

      Old style bearings were a bunch of loose balls laid in a couple of grooved races (one on either side) capturing the balls. Specific tension is required on the head nut to keep those little balls moving freely but not too freely. If you THUNK the front down enough times, those balls begin to leave tiny detents in those races enough to create notchy feeling steering action. There's a video earlier on this channel showing how to maintain steering head bearings.

      And you can be sure, that a person who can really pull a wheelie is part of the best and thus safest drivers you are about to encounter on the road.

If someone thinks they are such a great rider that they can play around and do foolish things I fear being near them and I don't care if they are on a bike, in a car, a boat or a jet ski. I am just not a fan of wheelies or racing on public roads on bikes but I'm not a fan of squealing tires and drifting in cars either. Power up wheelies are dangerous. its hard to control where the balance point will be. Clutch ups are the safest. Pull clutch in rev rpm to range vs speed and drop clutch the bike will lift to a specific point and stop on the dot. trottle control and rear brake will keep you there. the exact rpm to dump will be learned. it will difference on the bike, your self, gearing, speed. Also it doesnt hurt your bike. I have been riding wheelies since 2009 and my 08 r6 still runs strong.

      Hey Guys, warming up the Bike is essential, it´s even more important when you are using a forged Piston! ALWAYS warm your bike up, and don´t rev it for the first few Minutes! Ride Safe! And don´t do Burnouts either, but thats kinda obvious!

    • @YamahaR12015
      @YamahaR12015 7 лет назад

      yup warming up is essential, best to let it idle for a moment. Let it reach temp and then get going but the entire motor hasn't warmed up yet. Want it all warm before juicing your bike much.

    • @petergriffin4629
      @petergriffin4629 7 лет назад +2

      Generally speaking, reving the engine to heat it up is all right,
      obviously only as long as you don't overdo it.
      Many race engines idle very badly and even stall easily,
      this is the reason that race drivers rev their engines.
      Also in race engines the temperatur has to be at a certain point
      for the fittments of the parts to be right.
      Maybe you have allready heard about that,
      but F1 engines, which are the most radical race engines outthere
      are heated externally before starting.

    • @kolby4078
      @kolby4078 7 лет назад

      race bikes are usually set up to cut almost all fuel at idle so that the engine drops revs as fast as possible and running lean will make more power (and heat)

I'm 67 and my Triumph 675 STR wheelies very easily just rolling on the throttle in 1st gear, but broken bones don't heal quickly at my age! My '72 Kawasaki Mach 3 was the first bike I ever owned that wheelied just rolling on the throttle in 1st gear. I have indeed read on the Triumph forum of blown fork seals from slamming down a wheelie. Keep in mind that the local constabulary may impound your motorcycle for 'stunting' on public roads.
