This was a very helpful tip. In the most recent verson of Windows 10 (build 16299 at time of comment), you don't even need to change the display settings. You only need to go into the * CS6 Properties > Compatibility, then check Override high DPI scaling behavior, and set the Scaling performed by setting (dropdown) to "System".
OMG, you're my hero. I was SO frustrated that an awesome monitor wouldn't work with my awesome program and was getting really discouraged of ever getting it to display properly. As of 2019, there are more compatibility options which let you keep your screen resolution at HD, but converts PS CS6 to its proper resolution. I'm currently using Properties > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings > Override high DPI scaling behavior > System (Enhanced). It's working like a dream. Thank you SO much for this quick and easy fix!
I apply this and it did work.... Thank you so much for such a video I have lenovo yoga 2 pro laptob which has a high resolution display... When I install adobe photoshope CS6 so it was working but the icons in the adobe photoshop CS6 were very small and awful....so for making the icons larger in the photoshop I started searching on youtube and google... I wachted many videos about the problem with which I was faced but most of them were fake and some were not working but in the last I saw this video and I directly went to my laptob and apply this method so it really helped me.
thanks it works for me without changing my system resolution to 1920x1080, i am using 4K Monitor resolution 3840x2160 and all i did is click properties / compatibility / check override high DPI scaling behavior / chose System (Enhanced). thats it :)
Oh man this video really helped me. I thought my PC was having problems. It's a bummer I bought the 4K laptop for working in Photoshop but it only works with CC and I can't buy CC yet. Thanks
+Gumpa2 It sucks I know but you'd have to buy CC than that's the only version of photoshop that will work in 4K and even than 4K scaling is still in beta for most Adobe programs.
I did not have to do this. I just right clicked on photoshop Icon. Chose compatibility /change high dpi settings/ checked box over ride high dep scaling behavior. scaling performed by ( choose) system
question, I had seen this similar fix and applied it before and what I noticed was while everything was the same size, the actual program and the graphic i pulled up to practice with was not exactly crisp, even compared to a normal 1080 screen. Is it just me or is the visibility of everything slightly blury? I was thinking if I was correcting photos for sharpness then this would not be possible on the 4k screen with this setting. Thanks for the video btw, this was much easier to perform the fixes with rather than reading in blogs.
Michael Freudiger The other fix is the manifest edits which forces the photoshop display to scale to 4K but it's only meant for 1080p so the resolution isn't there to scale up. It would be like taking a photo with an old cell phone then trying to blow it up to the size of a wall, it's gonna be pixelated and blurry because the resolution isn't high enough quality. The biggest issue with the manifest edits is it's just making everything look larger but photoshop still thinks it's small so all of the tools do not function right as the program still thinks they are the original size and doesn't know you've made it larger.
Now I understand, I will reverse the setup I did for the manifest edits and do your method instead. Thank you again for the help. I was so disappointed when this all started after buying a laptop with 4K screen and this gets things on track. I hoped Adobe was going to make an actual patch fix but I think they have chosen not to since these screens are not new, and it is certainly not out of Adobe's ability to make one.
UI is still small on anything from 1080 and up, I wonder if someone could write a patch/hack so that a new iconset and larger fonts could be used. I think many would pay/donate good money for this.
Hi there, I'm still experiencing the same problem. In my compatibility setting the highest compatibility is Windows 7 and I'm currently using Windows 10, therefore CS6 icons is still displaying small on 4k screen resolution. Your help and feedback would be highly appreciated.
Solved: No big registry edit, Windows 10, 64 bit. Right click on photoshop icon > properties> compatibility > Change for all users Check: Override High DPI Scaling Behavior AND drop down to be determined by SYSTEM (not application which is the default)
I have 4k and anything but 3840-2160 and 4096-2160 just make everything go green and has less colours. It did make the ui size go to normal though but i cant work with it because lack of colour. HELP!!! I cant use Photoshop or Sony vegas
This doesn't worked with my file either. I used the manifest but change the quality of the tools, like you said; so delete the manifest file try with your method and didn't work :/ I hope there's another way so finally, I'll can use the program properly.
That's works, BUT it's not a solution. It's OK temporarily, no more. This is stupid to buy a 4K monitor and use it in 1920x1080 resolution. You have to know that a full HD monitor (1920x1080), less expensive, has a better definition than a 4K monitor (native 3840×2160) that run in 1920x1080. That's mean for happy people, a more beautiful text and image on monitor in native 1920x1080, than a 4K monitor in 1920x1080. Yes, in that case you loose all bebefits of the 4K and you payed your harware more expenssive! Are you still happy? People always happy for everything exasperate me.
Thank you. But really, I'm looking for another photo editing tool. Adobe is out of their mind if they think I'm paying forever to put my images on their servers where I don't even own them anymore. I wish people would stop buying their products because what their doing is basically blackmail.
this is dumb. you made a tutorial on how to use a 4k monitor in 1080p. I want to use Photoshop in 1080p mode in 4k resolution. i have done it before i just cant find the video. this is not it clearly lol

Thank you! This was very helpful. I was considering switching back to my old monitor. Glad I came across your video.

What you showed wasn't exactly the same as what I had, but thanks to this video I was still able to figure it out. Thanks.
Oh man this video really helped me. I thought my PC was having problems. It's a bummer I bought the 4K laptop for working in Photoshop but it only works with CC and I can't buy CC yet. Thanks

Working great!!!
Mhh, but its not 4K. No reason in having a 4K display, if you cannot see your photos in 4K then.
+Gumpa2 It sucks I know but you'd have to buy CC than that's the only version of photoshop that will work in 4K and even than 4K scaling is still in beta for most Adobe programs.
There's a solution that works well for CS6 without losing your 4K resolution: danantonielli.com/app-scaling-on-high-dpi-displays-fix-2019/#comments
@@VioHazard17 thanks a million!!!!!
@@VioHazard17 nope. the quality sucks its pixelated. this is way better than overriding scales. hehe :)

Thank you, took me ages on Google to find the right answer. Still kinda sucks it isn't as clear as 4k but oh well.
I did not have to do this. I just right clicked on photoshop Icon. Chose compatibility /change high dpi settings/ checked box over ride high dep scaling behavior. scaling performed by ( choose) system
@The New Athens Yah easy solution, so far UI text are blurry tho, it might become uncomfortable looking at the menus on long period
Thank You

Thanks. Correct solution for Win 10 64 bit. No need to change screen resolution from 4K this way. Much appreciated.
so my display must always be on 1080p mode?
Does the 10-bit color depth still work in photoshop after this?
Why for me it doesn't work??! please help me...

Your screen seems to look alright in 1080p. Mine turns to shit. Dell XPS13.

4k has only been around for 4 years .... wake the fuck up adobe fix this
this sucks if this is really the only way. I'm screwed lol

This is not a solution. This is bullshit. Why should i use HD (1920 Pixel) when owning a 4K monitor ???????????
this is dumb. you made a tutorial on how to use a 4k monitor in 1080p. I want to use Photoshop in 1080p mode in 4k resolution. i have done it before i just cant find the video. this is not it clearly lol
Lol, buy pretty darn expensive 4k panel to downscale it to 1080p.... LOL.... btw i got 4k panel, adobe subscribed and this shit drives me crazy!
This doesn't work. No difference in size.
Thanks
I LOVE YOU
THANK YOU!!
