Actually there is one scenario where using an instructive prompt works really well. A lot times when leaving the prompt field blank to remove something, the AI filter will think it generated something inappropriate no matter how many times you generate. I tried entering "remove" and it works perfectly every time :)
generative fill is so powerful. i say this with no exaggeration, it is the best thing to happen to photoshop since photoshop, and i say this as someone who has been using it since photoshop 7.0 (2003)
Wow, I am blown away by your Photoshop skills! Your content is not only visually stunning but also incredibly informative. Concerning the shape of the selection, I've had good results importing a picture of what I want, selecting it, expanding the selection and making the prompt. This gives you much more control as to what you get from the AI.
Congratulations, you look happy and healthy. I agree with another comment, I need a text of all this, sooooo much great information. I had no idea any of this was available. Thanks for another great vid.
Hello Sir! You really are a Great teacher - i learn lot from you, could it be possible for you how to use golden Ratio in poster design ? Rule of third and how to use grid layout. Complete process of layout Designing series.🙏
Thanks Jesús, very helpful (as usual) - and especially thanks for the "Intensity" option, which I never knew before. Finally, I think you should definitely adopt the FIRST "curly hair" suggestion from Generative Fill as your everyday go-to look. 😀
I once generated 15 versions (five different generations) to remove a person entirely; all it did was give me another person. Typing "Remove person" works much of the time. I always use a rectangle or oval to avoid the shape of a person when possible.
I need your help with something. In some photos, the generative fill blank and say OK, the following warning comes up: "The generated images removed because they violate user guidelines". How can I fix this. Thanks in advance for your help.
Indeed, Generative Fill (GF) is a tool but not a one-click solution to creativity in Photoshop. It should aid our workflow and promote creativity, but it shouldn't replace our ability to think in using our tools in projecting the best visual presentation to our audience. Thanks Jesus Ramirez. I learnt here.
I'd love to see something that changes the name of the generated layers names to better reflect the promt given. Generative layer 1, 2, 3, 4 gets hard to keep track of after awhile lol.
Removing objects often doesn't work, even with a blank selection! (It just puts in an alternate object similar to what was there, partially based on what was on the edge.) We need a "remove object and continue neutral background" anti-generator
We always send people to this channel and Colin's channel when possible on the Adobe forums Jesus, and yes, I have seen Colin's GF videos. I always learn new things from this channel, and sometimes surprisingly basic things. Like I was not aware that we could right click directly on a path (with Pen tool selected) to open that menu. I use three big screens so I have most of the Photoshop panels in my workspace, and use the icons at the bottom of the Paths panel when possible.
Press Q. Fill with black. Then Edit > Fade. With the slider you can now reduce the intensity of that fill, adjusting the intensity of your original selection. Press Q again when done
anyone else have problem with generative fill messing with ears? I have a photo of myself in front of a door and of course want to replace the background. So I select subject and then select the inverse. when I use generative fill to make a new background, it's messing with my ears, making them bigger, or spock like.
80% of the time I get 'Violates Community Standards' when I leave the prompt blank, and am just extending the background. As it has not generated anything, I cant leave a feedback too. You will have access to the photoshop team and I have seen it happen in your videos too.
TL;DR: This video sponsored by MSI discusses mistakes to avoid when using the generator fill in Photoshop. It emphasizes the importance of selection shape when generating objects and suggests using a combination of prompts and selection shapes for desired results. Generating all objects at 100 intensity is discouraged, and using different intensities can lead to more realistic outcomes. The video also mentions the influence of adjustment layers on generated content and recommends placing them in a group or disabling them. Lastly, it advises against considering generator fill as a one-click solution and encourages combining it with traditional Photoshop tools for more powerful results. TL;DR: In the video, it is recommended to disable the generated layer, use the quick selection tool to select the top of the table, enable the generated layer again, delete the layer mask, and create a new mask from the selection. By adjusting the opacity, the intensity of the reflection can be controlled. If the reflection needs fixing, tools like the Clone Stamp tool can be used. The main point is that the generator fill is just one tool among many in Photoshop, and it provides creative flexibility beyond a one-click solution.
Yes. It devalues people who know PS. Amateur photo editors are suddenly masters. It devalues a skill. It affects job market already. Things will get worse because Adobe will not stop here. There will much more powerful AI features in next versions. To the point where anyone can do anything with PS. Why would you hire a pro, when anyone (with some visual taste) can do it? Visual taste is not that uncommon, most people can say what Midjourney image etc. looks good and what doesn't. The skill was in the making of it. Choosing the nicest pic is not hard. Midjourney has a daily top list of highest rated images, they are 95% gorgeous. Voted by regular people. You don't have to be an artist to know what looks good, once you see it. You need to be an artist to imagine and paint it, before you have seen it. But that part isn't needed anymore. AI imagines for us now. We just look and choose.
More friendly, but not particularly friendly. This has already devalued a lot of Photoshop skills, that people worked on for years. And this is just the beginning, there will be much more powerful AI tools in Photoshop 3-5 years from now. The kind that makes it incredibly easy to create anything, even for total amateurs. It's already kind of there with FireFly and genFill
It's a politically correct viewpoint to say that "AI won't take your jobs". AI won't take ALL jobs, but it is already taking a considerable amount of jobs in the creative field - and more and more in the future as the technology increases.
@@MrJeanBombers The way he has to emphasize "It won't take our jobs" is pretty telling in itself.... I understand that creatives are trying to cope hard. What else could they do. But this AI thing is only getting worse, this is just the beginning. The barrier of entry into editing your photos will be so low, that a professional is less and less needed. Or put it in other words, to declare yourself a "professional" takes a couple of weeks and good visual eye. You've mastered everything there's to photo editing now, and then you just use your natural visual eye (that comes largely from genes) to curate the results
Have you ever asked your mom to send you an old family photo and she does it with a flash? As a result, part of the photo is filled with white light. So, I figured out how to fix it. select the "select" tab and the "color range" tool, and in it, light colors. after that, select "generative fill" and it changes only the white or close to white pixels. because if you select the entire part of the photo filled with light at once, for example, using the "lasso", you will lose more details than with my method
good video, Jesus. Adobe trained their model way too fast, and on too small a data training set. They're either going to have to retrain it and add a wider range of terms to the lables or they're going to need to train a new one. fully 85% of the issues we have with it are because of the training issues. The fact that if you make a typo the AI gives up and says what you typed wasn't in English is unacceptable as well.
Yeah, this video seems pretty silly to those of us who have been using PS since 1992. Let's see, can you make it go any faster so nobody can grasp any of your content? What is the BIG hurry and why are you doing such complicated stuff when it could be simplified to a fourth of the steps you are hurrying through? Jesus! Slow the f down. Those who know how to do these things don't even need to watch, and those who want to learn these things don't need the discouragement of your boiling over with a thousand steps in fast motion. S L O W it down. This makes me never want to waste time on what Photoshop obviously isn't yet capable of.
I politely disagree. I think generative fill is fueling everyone's imaginations. You could even use GF to create a concept for a set up you'd like to do in camera, that way you could preview what it might look like before you spend money on any props/backgrounds etc.
The same was said when Photoshop itself was first released. Real designers/artists will use this as a tool to enhance and/or make their workflow more efficient. This is not going to take jobs or eliminate creativity.

Sometimes it doesn't. When there are small things to remove you need to select a bigger area around the small object to remove it properly
I discovered this too. I kept getting violation errors then typed remove artifacts and it worked instantly!
I agree. I get that warning all the time so I just put simple one word prompts instead of leaving it blank.
Yes, I did this intuitively too!
Was just about to comment this too. I type “extend” or “remove” and it reduces the chances of those warning messages.
You nailed it. You are the first person I believe who noticed the intensity and made video on it. Loved it. This tutorial is game changer.
