i love a game where every character is compelled to record their thoughts and feelings with pen and paper, and immediately discard those notes wherever they happened to be standing at that moment
wait a second...are you saying you DONT get the random urge in public to whip out a pen and paper and record your thoughts in that moment, only to dump it on the ground for the next person behind you to see? i thought everyone did that 🧐
There is a house in Upstate NY near Lake George. It is built above a cave system. The man who used to own it made a door over the entrance and built his house around it. In thw summertime, he would open up that door, and all the cold air from the cave system would cool the entire home. Very cool. The creator of this game did a great job. 👍🏼
@@AlexisHoffmannMediaEd definitely Howe caverns I just looked it up. Howe Caverns is named after farmer Lester Howe, who discovered the cave on May 22, 1842, after noticing that his cows frequently gathered near bushes at the bottom of a hill on hot summer days. Behind the bushes, Howe found a strong, cool breeze emanating from a hole in the Earth. Howe proceeded to dig out and explore the cave with his friend and neighbor, Henry Wetsel, on whose land the cave entrance was located. The cave is a constant temperature of 52 °F (11 °C), irrespective of the outside weather.[2] Howe opened the cave to eight-hour public tours in 1843, and, as business grew, a hotel was built over the entrance. When Howe encountered financial difficulties, he sold off parts of his property until a limestone quarry purchased the remainder. The quarry's purchase included the hillside, which encompassed the cave's natural entrance.
I do like how classic looking these spirits are. Like the spectral whispy type as opposed to the generic undead corpse lady you see rehashed in most modern indie horror games. Quite refreshing tbh
It seemed they borrowed many things from Spielbergs Poltergeist movie, but the story were unique, and i love how you never really knew if the spirits could be trusted until the last ten seconds of the game.
Remind me if i ever go to a haunted house to bring several note books and lots of pens so i can make sure to leave journal scraps everywhere for future readers
Mentioning _and_ quoting In The Mouth Of Madness within the first minute of the video = absolute win :) Edit: (SPOILERS AHEAD IF ANYONE HASN'T WATCHED THE WHOLE THING YET) Having just finished watching the whole thing, that game was _such_ a love letter to the movie Poltergeist, from the ghost effects, the skull (particularly pressing through the walls), the portal effects, even right down to the voice of the ghost that helps towards the end sounding almost identical to the exorcist in the movie. Honestly, I could very easily (and happily) headcanon this game into the Poltergeist universe.
There were times when all I could hear was Tangina whispering about light, and the bad spirit using Carol Anne to distract the other spirits from the light. The ghosts in this game also look a lot like the bright lights that come down the stairs in the movie.
One of those voices (42:45) sounds *exactly* like Zelda Rubinstein, best known as Tangina Barrons from the _Poltergeist Franchise,_ as well as Host of _Scariest Places on Earth (TV documentary series)._ But she died in 2010 and I didn’t see her credited as a voice actress in any video games. The time stamp I used isn’t the first to feature her, by the way. It’s just the one I chose. 💚🤗🤗💚
@@JustKelso1993 I don’t know anything about Harry Potter. But if that’s who/ what this is supposed to be then it was definitely inspired by Zelda’s voice, since she long-predated the books or films.
@@Lesley_RedRhody Nope the actress just sounds like that, I know who you are talking about though and they do sound extremely similar, they both have that type of voice.
That skeleton keeps on doing things that make me laugh. It shoved the character out of the room like, "this is my room! get out!" and then later on it grabbed a chair and tossed it, lol.
11:32 Concur, I am a sound designer, and I am really digging the sound design in the game. 12:25 "Zu-u-u-u-ll..." 34:33 "They're here..." (I'm just a fountain of old movie references tonight.) By about the 1 hour mark, I'm thinking this is like a cross between Fatal Frame and Myst. Pretty cool though.
This game kinda reminds me of the book Episode Thirteen with the whole different dimensions thing. I read that book after hearing Gabs talk about it, and I loved it!
It's funny that Gab mentions that the font gives her old, classic horror vibes because the font and the teal color gives me Eternal Darkness vibes! God, I need to play it again for the millionth time.
I have been following your channel for a while now and I want to tell you how much I appreciate the subtlety of your subscription reminder thingy. The little click is enough to get the attention of new viewers but it is so unobtrusive that it does not disturb the video… Very well made!! Love to see it! Also: Bought the loops you recommended and am very happy with them! Thank you!!! 💜
01:20 Cozy Marshmallows? Horror? Of course! Reminds me of days when I used to roast marshmallows over the campfire while listening/telling ghost & other horror stories.
Maybe I’m wierd, but I love how cheerful Gab seems in this video. Makes me feel better watching her knowing for certain she’s enjoying herself. Towards the end though I could tell on her face that she was getting a bit tired of the constant stock noises lol. Love ya, Gab. Hope you and Sean are enjoying life.
Holy cow that was SO GOOD. The visuals were amazing and I loved the lore! It had such a cool lovecraftian vibe and it's so rare to get a lovecraftian game with a happy ending. I'm totally down for this one, it was so creative and felt fresh and cool.
The shack and lightning strike reminded me of a story from my 3rd grade teacher Mrs.Isman. She mentioned that one of her relatives way back in the day died due to lightning. He was with his brother in the barn and leaned against a metal pipe that ran from the ceiling into the floor. The barn was struck by lightning and ran through the pipe into the ground, but because her relative was leaning against the pole he was electrocuted to death. She told us this during our weather unit. Surprisingly, it didn’t traumatize me as much as it should have. 😂
After your stream, I replenish my snacks, put the kids somewhat rapidly to bed, and settling in myself for this nice horror gameplay vid of yours. 🤩 Thanks Gab, for your huge part of this delightful relaxing day. 😄👍🥂🎉❤️ lots of love for Beebs, Sean and yourself!
omg, i used to have a recurring nightmare (from ages 8 to 16) about a skull with this greenish smoke around it, chasing me down for hours... it was waaay too similar to the skull in the game and i got a little paranoid for a good minute 😅
Really enjoyed this gameplay, as usual ❤ All I could think of is, "Don't go into the light, Caroline!" The voice actor of the spirits sometimes reminds me of the lady from poltergeist 😂
Gab you should really play Heilwald Loophole one day. It has such a fantastic ps1 feeling to it (very reminiscent of SH1) and it's very creepy and weird. It has a charming vibe though, I hope you'll take a look at it. John also played it if I'm not mistaken :)
