Eugene treating bread the same way most hard-boiled detectives treat alcohol or drugs is hilarious to me, especially since bread is actually really bad for ducks.

@kayhaven4710 i'm not sure what kind of people you mean that it wouldn't be good for. There will always be exceptions for every food, for example, when you have allergies or are intolerant to gluten/dairy. but bread should be a healthy choice for people without any intolerance 😁
@@kimberlyxvobread is a carb, carbs turn into sugar, my uncle has diabetes and refuses to believe carbs like bread, pasta, etc make his blood sugar go up and if someone is allergic to gluten then stuff like that is a no-go for them also

It was really kind of annoying she didn't see it when a character she talked to pointed it out blatantly in dialogue meant for people who didn't catch it initially, then spent minutes mix matching different words to find the right combination, and _still_ didn't pay attention to it when Ducktective was unraveling the mystery when all the letters were even more clearly prominent. Then she has no idea about Sophie having a secret because she didn't see the hidden message.
Like why even play a mystery game at that point when instead of looking for and at evidence to come to a conclusion, you just collect info points from the environment and brute force the results until it solves itself? That's not a very satisfying gameplay loop, trying every possible combination not caring if the sentence makes sense until the notepad allows you to progress.
@@billbill6094 I think you have a valid point but Gab also is playing for the first time and on the spot so she can miss things and that’s ok! That’s why she has us to help!
@@cococup9607 That's why I didn't leave a comment directly to her backseat gaming, but I really wish she would engage more with some of these games sometimes. If you watch multiple channels on the same game, you get it's mostly to see how this or that person reacts to this part or that scene.
@@billbill6094tbf brute forcing is a problem with a lot of mystery games and it’s very well known in game dev that many players tend to do whatever is the easiest even if it is not the most satisfying, and it’s good to design around that. I think it’s partly the fault of the game design itself, but they probably just wanted it to feel low pressure anyway

There’s really some brilliance to mixing this art style with the seriousness of the voice acting.
I will always love parodies/homage to pulpy detective noir. I love all the familiar beats mixed with silly twists.
Imagine:
They make more of these games and it becomes like a series of them and each game the cases become more unhinged, eventually leading to an actual murder investigation for one of them 😅

You would think a detective would know their client before taking the case lol not just have to figure it out along the way I don’t understand that part of the game unless they asked to remain anonymous
The voice acting is so good
i am usually not a big fan of games like these, where you have to talk to the same characters over and over again and only walk in the same environment, looking at the same objects and waiting for something to change.
BUT i really enjoyed watching you play this game! i was genuinely curious about the story, which like never happens to me :] your reactions were so similar with my thoughts, which made it even more enjoyable, especially with freddie ^-^

I have been having a stressful couple of weeks because of some severe weather and personal issues, soI have been needing a serious pick-me-up. As always, Gab delivered ten fold! Ironically in our backyard, a few Ducks were in our pool attacking the female and we were able to stop the fight before things got too out of wing. The Duck we assume started the whole thing left and the male/female stayed for hour's just calmy swimming in our pool and walking around. So, I guess Ducks are a huge theme today! LOL

The Darkside Detective is a really fun game that I think Gab would enjoy! It's a point and click with HILARIOUS dialogue. If she liked Freddy, she'd love Dooley ❤️
Don't know if anyone in the comments said it already, but a lot of words in this game are actually italian 🇮🇹 such as "buongiorno" (good morning), "salsiccia" (sausage) and "salame succoso" (juicy salami). I genuinely thought the devs were italian before hearing everyone pointing out that the game is probably german!
Btw, this was such a cute and fun game. I love watching Gab play, always been my comfort youtuber!
When I played the game, I arrested Boris off the hook but let Sophie off because Boris was the one actually bringing salamis across the border and COULD have rejected Sophie's advances, but didn't. I regretted it as soon as I saw how everyone reacted ;-; Sophie had an evil grin and everything
You really should try Outer Wilds. It's not exactly your usual type of game but I think you would really love it

It was a cute game! I just wish it tied the clues and deductions better - a lot of times it was just filling out the blanks until it was correct. I didn’t feel like I actually solved the crimes. But I still thought it was cute and would love more and have more cases instead of just the one

I don't know if it was addressed in the video but ducks don't "breathe underwater", they hold their breath, and 72 hours is wildly inaccurate. Some ducks can hold their breath up to 2 minutes and other species can hold their breath 10-30 seconds. edit: I see, the "facts" are apparently jokes. Well, trivia fact.

Strangest title for a game ever
The gs look like ducks looking up - I'm 2 minutes in - will she notice?
Boris may have been in the dark about the smuggling but he was still very much complacent in it all, there's being ignorant that what you are doing is wrong and then there's truly having your head in the sand. He of all people should be aware of the customs restrictions considering he was the one that had to deal with them directly and on top of that actively took the time and effort to bypass them, and he was still onaware what he was doing was illegal? Ignorance can only cover you so far. Sophie might have been kinda mean about it but she wasn't lying, Boris does come off as kind of an idiot in this scenario.
Also still really mad that Rufus doesn't also get arrested for embezzlement and blackmail, doubly so since he has the gull to rub NOT getting arresting in your face.
