    adam c writes
    greg how about a video about the differences and limitations for technical fouls and penalties for each ie player team bench coach and administrative also which count towards team foul count.
    today
    we'll begin
    a multi-part series on technical foul
    differences
    and administration now in general
    let's talk about all technical fouls
    the penalty is the same
    two free throws for the offended team
    and the ball
    at the division line opposite the table
    for
    each technical foul whether it's an
    administrative technical foul a
    substitute technical foul
    a team technical foul a player technical
    foul
    or a bench technical foul in each
    situation the penalty in high school
    is always two free throws
    and the ball at the division line
    opposite the table
    for the offended team all right we're
    starting with rule
    10 fouls and their penalties
    a quick overview for administrative
    technical files there are four
    articles two of them are very common
    two of them are not so common
    and really aren't really a thing so
    article three use a megaphone or any
    electronic communication device or
    electronic equipment for voice
    communication with players on the court
    or use or use electronic audio
    and or video devices to review a
    decision
    of the contest officials
    fail to occupy a team member's bench to
    which it was assigned
    in my experience over a decade of
    officiating i've never had either of
    those two scenarios
    so they're super unlikely
    i guess in theory uh teams are allowed
    to use electronic devices
    an ipad right they can tr uh track
    statistics etc i guess
    in theory if on their electronic device
    they had a replay of the block charge
    play you just made
    and are looking at it and say hey ref
    i'm looking at it right here
    you made a mistake that in theory
    that is a administrative technical foul
    very strange that they put it in the
    administrative area but
    that's where it is fail to occupy a team
    member's bench to which it was assigned
    where do they sit you know it's it's
    difficult to understand that
    but those two exist much more common
    much more common and will happen in your
    game and you need to be an expert in
    these areas
    are article 1 and article 2.
    failure to supply the score with a
    roster
    and starters prior to the 10-minute mark
    and then article 2 change a designated
    starter
    unless necessitated as in 3-2-2
    a b add a name to the team member list
    we forgot somebody on the roster we have
    to add it to the list
    c require the scorer to change a team
    members
    or players number in the scorebook
    d require a player to change to the
    number
    in the scorebook or e have identical
    numbers
    on team members and or players
    so all of those things can happen in the
    game

    Thanks Greg!! I absolutely love your content and as an up and coming official your videos help is so many ways that I can't even begin to thank you for all you have done for me, continue to do and will do in the future with your videos. Thank You!!! With that said, I struggle with two areas: 1.) difference in player and team control fouls and how we administer them, especially when in the bonus 2.) correctable error procedure and how to fix issues that may arise in a game.
    Thanks again for everything you do for me and well for the officiating community as a whole, it surely does not go unnoticed!

    The designated starter can be replaced by the technical foul shooter, but the shooter cannot then be replaced by the original starter before the start of the game without being charged with an admin T.

    What's your technique on reading the rules book upside down Greg?(:

    Great job, Greg. 4 a future vid, can you cover when coaches are penalized technical fouls when their team is charged with an administrative, team, player, bench? Thanks

    Maybe a video on frontcourt and backcourt status and rules/scenarios involving the division line? Rule 9-9.

    Real life scenario -- JV Game and I was doing the scorebook. It was a rainy day and one of the team members walking to the game drops his jersey in a puddle. He then goes into the storage room and grabs a dry jersey but doesn't tell anyone. I've got his usual number in the scorebook. He gets into the game later and boom -- administrative "T" After that, I always asked beforehand if anybody had a change of number or something like that.

  • @Namath1000

    Question: Kramden is designated as a starter. In warm-ups five minutes before the game, Kramden gets a "T" for dunking the ball. The coach is irate with Kramden -- it's the third time he's done it this season. The coach wants to pull Kramden from the starting line-up. Am I correct to assume that if the coach does that, it would incur another technical since he's already been designated a starter and this doesn't qualify as an exception?

      @bradleyrehwaldt5025 2 года назад

      I wonder also if the other team brings in an eligible substitute to shoot the technical freethrows to start the game if Kramdem's coach can bring in subs as well.

    • @GIVEMELIBERTYORGIVEMECOIN
      @GIVEMELIBERTYORGIVEMECOIN 2 года назад +1

      I would say it is a technical foul because it is not an exception.

    • @GIVEMELIBERTYORGIVEMECOIN
      @GIVEMELIBERTYORGIVEMECOIN 2 года назад +1

      @@bradleyrehwaldt5025 in my opinion I would say the other team would be allowed to substitute because the "offended" team is substituting at that time.

    Just a "why" question about why the rule is the way it is. Why does the team have to designate starters? What is the purpose of that?

    • @BetterOfficials
      @BetterOfficials  3 года назад

      I have nothing on that. Have to ask a historian about that one.

    • @bradleyrehwaldt5025
      @bradleyrehwaldt5025 2 года назад

      While I know as a player, we went to the locker room following warm-up right before the game and the coach would give our starters designated match-ups on defensive as our scorer had been informed who was starting on their team.

    Is pre game dunking an administrative technical foul.
    Is there 3 techs in a row if:
    Player A1 dunks in pregame
    Coach A fails to submit scorebook before 10 min
    Coach A changes starters

    • @BetterOfficials
      @BetterOfficials  3 года назад

      Pregame dunk not administrative in NFHS. Bench T to player. Indirect to HC.

    To start a game with an administrative technical foul. Who would have the possession arrow on the next dead ball?

    • @BetterOfficials
      @BetterOfficials  6 месяцев назад

      If blue shoots 2 and has the division line throw-in, the arrow is set to White when ball is placed at the disposal of the thrower for the throw-in.

  • @jackdavis874

    if the game starts with an administrative technical foul throw in, will the offending team have the possession arrow to start?

    • @BetterOfficials
      @BetterOfficials  3 года назад

      Yes! The arrow would be set to the offending team (the team that had the admin technical assessed against them) when the *ball is placed at the disposal of the thrower for the throw-in at the division line opposite the table* .

  • @Panarchy9

    What happens if a player bloodies his jersey, finds a replacement jersey, and therefore has a new number? Is that an administrative technical?
    It appears that would be requiring the scorebook to change its number.

    • @aalbri5919
      @aalbri5919 3 года назад

      No, he can change the number; because the injury caused the number to have to be changed therefore no Tech and his/her is permitted to be changed.

  • @jorgepardo9421

    Several minutes into the game, the scorer notifies the official that number 5 started instead of designated starter number 15. The official assesses a technical foul on team A. Why is the official wrong?
