@@kaylizzie7890 sometimes that is the only answer that will work long term. i was bullied as a kid i was on the bus and another kid kept punching and wouldnt stop i got tired of it and punched back a few times we swapped a few more punches. after he never bothered me again and was nicer to me never tried to hit again and greeted me in a kinder way after that.
@Christopher Bingham it works better than telling cause thats only a short term solution hitting shows them that what they are doing will not be tolerated. might take a couple time but in most cases popping them a couple good times ends the making fun of someone. liberal ideas will always fail in the long run. that is why society is the shithole it is today.

The complexity, character development and story arcs in this show are truly brilliant. Its great in its own right.
I haven't seen it in a couple years. But watching the old season. Sometimes i thought it was better then the big bang theory. I thought young sheldon was going suck. A desperate attempt to cash in on the sheldon character but it actually been funny and interesting. The seasons i saw
That boy, Danny who Missy punched got what was coming to him. I’m also proud of Billy that he stood by Sheldon and Missy.
But Mary lost her job, more for Georgie getting Mandy pregnant, but Danny’s parents were angry and felt they had the right to complain because their son was rude and called Sheldon and Missy and their whole family white trash when they’ve likely been saying the same thing to others just not in those exact words?!
They should have taught their son to be more respectful especially since they take him to Sunday school.
If Danny was my son I'd smack him upside the head and cheer for Missy lol
Bear in mind that this is set 20+years before the parent BigBang series. The parent series made Sheldon's mom's religiosity a part of the humour.
I never went to a rural Texas Sunday school. Far from it. But it's in those schools, and in other similar institutions around the world that prejudice against the accepted "rules", are taught.
Children learn their prejudices from their parents and the society they're in, which is why real change in attitudes is often a multi-generational progression.

This is the start of the downfall of the cooper family, the stories that Sheldon's been telling us about, like his neglecting father, the sheeting with his mother, the relationship between him and his siblings, and the death of his father everything his Been telling us about his family in the big bang theory is coming and the next few episodes will be the most emotional episodes of the entire series

I've only watched season 1 and a few episodes of season 2 but I've always found that from watching tbbt,Mary doted too much on Sheldon. I get that he was socially awkward and a genius but I feel that the other kids were often neglected. I recall an episode (on tbbt)where Georgie said "she was protecting you,just like we all have". Mary never acknowledged how much her other kids helped in raising
Shelly. Georgie and Missy turning out well is a miracle because most don't when all the attention in a family is for one child😘🌺🙏

I think because they planned it to be a certain number of seasons it enabled the producers to create more finish product rather than wait to be renewed again and again and not know what do to.
That's how all series work when it's not shown in TV. So better wait till it's completed 😔

Seeing Missy hug Mary when Mary was going through a hard time really is heartbreaking because Mary can't even do the same. Still can't get over the S4 episode where She just started yelling at Missy even though Missy was crying and she didn't even ask WHY Missy was crying. IMO George Sr. handled that situation better. And now in this season she gets angry at Missy for standing up for the Family. Definitely grew to like Mary Cooper less and less after each season.

Just punishing Missy for tearing up a poster is nonsense given why she did it. Hearing her side is important for context. And like you say for her mental health given the fact she thinks her mom hates her and always sides with Sheldon. George handled it perfectly Sheldon was being a jerk and she ripped the poster. It was just a poster don't be so dramatic. And it blew over just like George probably knew it would.
Mary didn't get fired because she punched that boy. The pastor clearly says it's because Georgie got that girl pregnant. So it's not Missy's fault.

@Christopher Bingham 1. All sides of the story matter. Not hearing hers makes the issue worse not better. This inexcusable thing was not as terrible as you make it up to be. Sheldon takes his “personal pain” on anyone and everyone around him, yet you say nothing there.
2. So Sheldon being a kiss ass and her actually acting like a kid is something bad about her? Again defending Sheldon and making Missy look like the bad guy.
3. No, that shows George actually knows and understands what happened there. And sympathizes which his daughter and the pains she is going through.
4. It is just a poster. And you forget why she did it. To you Sheldon can act and talk like an and everyone just has to take it. You don’t have sister do you?
5. Go watch the episode again. They were in that meeting because of what happened with Missy yes but the big problem was people were starting to talk about Georgie having a baby out of wedlock. Missy punching that kid wouldn’t have gotten her fired, that makes no sense.
6. And that wouldn’t make them stop saying what they are saying. If you are afraid of defending your family that’s on you, she isn’t.

Loved Annie Potts in Any Day Now, She rocked it as Mary Elizabeth. For those who do not know, Itis a show about 2 girls (Mary Elizabieth and Renee) growing up in the sixties and about how society was changing despite Mary Elizabeth's parent's, Uncle (who I was a real nasty piece of work) and sister not wanting things to change. It would also jump forward in time to see the girls as adults and still best friends. Even Mary Elizabeths mother starting to come around.

@Christopher Bingham I think you’re missing the point if you think that it’s actually about beating this random kid up. Like you said, Billy likely knows that Missy is capable of doing that herself. Their entire community is turning on the Coopers, and not at all subtly. Billy is openly letting it be known that he’s standing by them, regardless of this communal hostility. So, Christopher, though I know you enjoy voicing your opinions, I am personally going to reject this one, and restate: Billy is the best.
It’s so satisfying to see kids like Missy stand up for her family (and even having Billy, much less Sheldon back her up), because face it; all those brats including Danny may be mocking Georgie right now, but once THEY THEMSELVES reach that same phase of entering parenthood, they won’t be laughing or mocking any future parent anymore, and alongside that, Danny and them will be making a lot of apologies overtime.

The same thing they teach in a lot of Baptist churches, that you must always APPEAR to be perfect by hiding anything human. If you are not able to do this, you are then bashed and verbally stoned. These churches are hotbeds of hypocrisy and hate just waiting for any rationale to be released on others. I grew up in such a church. Such a group of dysfunctional children in adult bodies. Strict bronze age rules and group pressure cannot heal all the emotional scars inside. That takes a trained therapist.

It's lovely that even she rejected him, he holds no grudge nor resentment towards her, and defends her.
As for the boy's comment, that's inappropriate. Jesus said it better: Whoever's free of sin, cast the first rock. He casted a rock, but he wasn't counting on Missy being a strong girl with tomboy past.
Missy may be a main character, but she sure is underrated. Sure she teases Sheldon, but she loves him and her family. To me she has a heart of gold.
